Due to the underperformance of Solo at the box office, Disney has "put on hold" or cancelled the upcoming Kenobi and Boba Fett standalone, and the only thing going forward is Episode IX. They spent 400 million on Solo between reshoots and merch, and it ended up losing 50 million from what they projected, so yeah, they weren't happy.
That said, a Boba Fett story where he gets treated like a threat and we see how he became the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy is one of the only things I wanted.

Keep in mind I haven’t seen a Star Wars movie since Attack of the Clones (which is not a commentary on Star Wars movies – I just don’t watch many movies anymore) and I didn’t read the entire article, but I did see that one of the theories behind that is they fear the public may be suffering from Star Wars exhaustion.

Copy/Pasted: Sony is in the process of developing a live action Spider-Man spin-off film focusing on the Marvel Comics character Silk. The Wrap reports that Amy Pascal is producing the film, which will be a part of Sony’s Marvel-licensed character universe along with Venom, Silver and Black and Nightwatch. That means it will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.S
Silk was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos and first appeared in 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 3) #1. Cindy Moon is a Korean-American who was bit by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. Cindy gained similar powers as Spider-Man, including organic webbing that first manifested when she accidentally webbed up her parents. A man named Ezekiel Sims came and trained her in the use of her powers, until he discovered she was being tracked by a being named Morlun who hunts people who possess “totemic power” of the Spider Totem. Ezekiel then locked her in a bunker where she was protected from Morlun, only to have her emerge thirteen years later and encounter Peter who had become Spider-Man.
Since then, Silk has become a major part of the “Spider-Verse” family the of Marvel Comics universe, playing a big role in events like Spider-Verse and Secret Wars, appearing in Spider-Gwen as well as starring in her own book for a while.

One of the worst actors possible playing one of my favorite Spider-man villains. Gag me. I only have ever enjoyed Leto in Fight Club and that was when fucking Edward Norton was beating his face into custard. Morbius deserves better than that creep.
So hey, I don't know if any of y'all have been reading Bendis' Man of Steel at DC but I got caught up on the 4 released issues. It's... interesting. I'm not sure the conceit of having Rogol Zaar come from nowhere and obliterate Krypton quite works... kind of reminds me of 90's Doomsday and Bane characters that came from nowhere to kill the status quo. With that said Bendis' take on Clark as a characater and his marriage into a little more of a DC style of writing (while also keeping his trademark patter) has been kind of satisfying.
For what it's worth, Batman and Mister Miracle by DC have both been freaking excellent this year.

Copy/paste:
Warner Bros. has given the green light to Todd Phillips’ Joker origin film starring Joaquin Phoenix in the title role. Deadline reports that the film will begin filming in September and will be released under a new DC banner. The film, which is not connected to the DC Extended Universe, does not yet have a release date.
According to the site, the film will take a grittier tone and has a production budget of $55 million. That is, of course, well below the blockbuster budgets of the DCEU films. The film has previously described as being more in the vein of Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. Scorsese was attached to produce but has stepped off due to his busy schedule, although his regular producing partner Emma Tillinger Koskoff is still in board.
Warner Bros. is also at work on developing a Joker film that is part of the DCEU, and will see Jared Leto return to the role.

I think it looks fine. And perfect for Joaquin.
My only worry lies in the idea of a Joker solo film as is.
Zazie Beetz and Robert de Niro are in it, so that's cool, but I still worry on its plot.

Is the look something new? Or is the inspiration taken from the comics somewhere? I think Joaquin will be fantastic, but a Joker solo film is risky. I'm definitely interested in seeing how it turns out in the end.

This. It does look like it's a bit 70's inspired. And a Joker origin without a Batman in sight is... strange? But I kinda dig it. Especially the reveal trailer with the Guess Who song. I guess having seen the depths of Jared Leto's Joker anything else is a step up?
