I don't figure she, I mean he, will win this round, but I'm voting for her, I mean him, until she, I mean he, loses.
Let go Lana... I mean Rusev!

If AJ goes out here it's a crime... How many match of the year candidate matches did he wrestle in?!

Fact is, I wasn't very impressed with his TNA exit, even if it did take the whole roster to put him down. It seems really, really forced and like the ending was pre-determined (as it always is, of course, but underdog stories need a shimmer of hope that the little guy will overcome.) That, and I don't follow any wrestling besides TNA and WWE. SO, while my opinion is biased on what I watch...Rusev was unstoppable.

I find it a crime that AJ is going to be screwed out of this because people here don't watch NJPW. I can't think of anyone that has had a better year than AJ Styles. He won the IWGP Heavyweight championship for God's sake! Won Wrestling Observers match of the year (vs Minoru Suzuki) and most outstanding wrestler. Also having one of the best title matches of all time against Hiroshi Tanahashi at King of Pro Wrestling 2014.....
On the flip side Rusev has improved a lot and had an undefeated streak against the likes of Jack Swagger...and is accompanied by Lana.
What is wrong with you people?!

What is wrong with you, and how big is your hardon for AJ Styles? You're citing obscure references about Styles to mostly casual wrestling fans. I get it that you're a mark for him and you follow NJPW. I don't.
OK, let's try it this way. AJ Styles has been wrestling ____ years. I'm sure you'll fill in that blank since you seem like a really big fan. Rusev is relatively new, right? New, unless he's had some other upbringing besides NXT. He beat Jack Swagger, sure. Also the Big Show. Also Mark Henry. Also...anyone else he's faced besides Cena. He didn't beat Minoru Suzuki, but who the fuck knows who that is besides SOMEONE WHO FOLLOWS those promotions. The names listed here are all universal names. Styles is just doing what he's done since he came around.
I'm a fan of AJ Styles, I really am. But his biggest year? Absolutely not, and definitely not wrestler of the year.

Maybe if he had done a good job on his outs in TNA, I'd be inclined to vote for him.

It's not about having a "hard on" for AJ Styles, it's appreciating a wrestler that has had numerous MOTY candidates over a single year, won one of the biggest championships in the world of wrestling and also dominated a promotion that is not normally dominated by an non-Japanese wrestler. Wow Rusev had a good first year but AJ had a fantastic year in 2014.
Also about following those promotions, surely it should be about who has had the better year in wrestling? Just because it seems that you are upset about how he left TNA doesn't stop him from having consistently great matches (can you say that about Rusev?), won probably the second biggest championship in wrestling today and also (and I repeat this) had his BEST year in his wrestling career. Also how is wrestling observer awards obscure? It's the biggest awards for wrestling so not really obscure and sure you may not know Minoru Suzuki but it is about the actual match itself, again which Rusev match was a match of the year candidate? Rather than attack for me "having a hard on for AJ", how about name the reasons as to why Rusev should go through, beating Big Show? Mark Henry? Jack Swagger? Not exactly a big accomplishment really is it?

I voted AJ too, but you have to understand...most wrestling fans in North America follow American promotions...(and most people in PCW who watch wrestling in general)...and the biggest promotion in America and essentially the World- WWE.
When you're in the AFL and you're a quarterback and you have a great year, are people really going to vote you as the best QB over someone who had a great year in the NFL?
AJ's in the discussion for best wrestler, and his stuff has obviously earned him some attention, but it's really hard to announce someone the best when most don't even know what's he's accomplished. Being a big fish in a big pond somewhere across the World still makes you a relatively small fish in this area.

Being a big fish in a big pond somewhere across the World still makes you a relatively small fish in this area. Oh trust me I completely understand this, a lot of my friends are just WWE fans. However I was taking this pole as the 2014 wrestler of the year right? Well I think it should be between AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar when you take in this pole. I gave my reasons (with a joking "what's wrong with you people" after) and I just got called a mark and basically told to sit back down because "people here don't watch those promotions". I understand that, I understand I am in the minority but my reasoning was there, if AJ had only one match of the year candidate I think it is STILL one more than Rusev. Maybe my reasonings will cause some of you to look for the matches I am discussing? Maybe you will look into all that AJ has done since leaving TNA? Maybe you won't and you will just decide that I am a mark rambling on, either way these are my reasons behind my vote. If just because I watch other stuff and bring that into the argument, I basically get told to sit down and be quiet because nobody here watches that stuff, I think it's sad. After all what is the point in having the debate about wrestler of the year if we don't debate and also open ourselves to new stuff? To look at other things that could be the reasons behind such a claim, it's not like I'm saying someone you have never heard of before. Also not to be finicky but just because people here don't watch it, it doesn't stop NJPW from behind the second biggest wrestling company in the world.

Honestly, without any sarcasm or hidden meanings or anything like that at all, I apologize. I don't mean to come off as offensive but time and time again it's turned out that I have. Obviously your opinion is different than mine, and I didn't try to come off with my post as 'sit down and shut up.' I'm glad you're enthusiastic about wrestling, even though we watch different programs. Your opinion, which was also backed up with viable facts, is more than valid. Sorry man, I really meant no offense.

But, Rusev. AJ Styles is still past his prime, and here we have a giant push for Rusev that people loved. Raw deal, but hey. It is what it is.
