The 13th Edition of the PCW Icey Awards
Live, January 5, 2016
From the sold-out Peace Center in Greenville, South Carolina
The camera pans across the crowd at the sold out Peace Center where fans, wrestlers and celebrities seat, awaiting the Icey Awards. A shot of outside is shown where hundreds of fans surround the blue carpet, hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite stars.
Back inside, Jerry Andrews and Ace Anderson, wearing their finest dress suits, sit in a booth high above the Peace Center.
Jerry Andrews: Ladies and gentlemen, happy 2016 and welcome!
Ace Anderson: We hope you had a wonderful holiday season, but we also hope that you still have some energy left to celebrate, because it's the Icey Awards!
Jerry Andrews: That's right! It's time once again to look back at the last six months of PCW action and hand out some hardware to our best and brightest.
Ace Anderson: What an amazing six months we've had, capped off by the incredible Collision Course we saw on pay-per-view and the crowning of a new PCW World Champion!
Jerry Andrews: And speaking of champions, we also have a title on the line here tonight!
Ace Anderson: That's right! It's not just a night of trophies and speeches! We'll also see a Collision Course rematch as Eira takes on PCW International Champion Michael Wryght for the title!
Jerry Andrews: I can't wait for that! It's going to be a great night and let's kick it off with our first award, "Most Loved," presented by the most recent winner of this award: Nathan Saniti!
Presenter: Nathan Saniti
Past Winners: Angelica Night-Hunter; Lantlas; Pegasus; Nacho Grande (x3); Q; Kelli Starr; Andy D; Derek Cosmos, Nathan Saniti
Suddenly there's a huge puff of smoke on the stage and, when it clears, N. Saniti is standing there! He says nothing to the crowd. Instead, he opens up the envelope on the podium. A huge smile comes across his face...
"The winner is: 'Dollface' Kelli Starr!"
Kelli Starr runs up on stage. She turns to the crowd and throws handfuls of candy at them before turning to Saniti. The music changes to waltz music as the two quickly step in circles around the stage. After several moments of this, the two waltz backstage, neither of them saying a word to the crowd the entire time.
Winner: "Dollface" Kelli Starr (Runners up: Gem, Eira)
Jerry Andrews: That was.... different.
Ace Anderson: What else did you expect?
Jerry Andrews: I never know what to expect with those two.
The show returns and PCW Majority Owner Luis “The Icemann” Malave is standing on the stage.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this next award is for PCW Breakout Star. Normally this award is a sign of things to come. It is given to the competitor or team who is on the cusp of PCW greatness. Unfortunately, this will not be the case this time. Tonight's Icey for PCW Breakout Star goes to 'The Saints,' Judge and Jury."
Presenter: Luis “The Icemann” Malave
Past Winners: Gem, Tha Joka
There is a huge cheer from the crowd.
"You have likely already heard but, if you have not, Jesse Wayne McCoy, better known as "Judge", passed away on December 17th after suffering a serious heart attack. He leaves behind his estranged wife Amanda McCoy, his twin daughters, his twin brother Cory Benjamin Steel, and a grieving PCW. "
"Any fans who wish to make donations to Jesse's family can do so by sending them to the PCW head office, care of the "Jesse 'Judge' McCoy Memorial Fund." More details are available on our website."
With that, The Icemann leaves the Icey on the podium and walks away. The lights dim and the show heads to commercial.
Winner: The Saints [Judge and Jury]
As the show returns, we are joined via Skype by entrepreneur and financial and pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli. From the video, it's obvious that he is speaking, but he can barely be heard thanks to the boos from the crowd. Suddenly, the video feed freezes and the crowd cheers. The screen then cuts to black.
Presenter: Martin Shkreli
Past Winners: The Untouchables; Non Compos Mentis; Jason Willard; Justin Michaels; AWAssholes; Areas; Marshall’s Law; Whitey Ford (2x), the Black Hand
Jerry Andrews: Well.... what he was trying to say is that the next award is for Most Hated.
Ace Anderson: It's such a shame that we had technical difficulties there. Such a huge, huge shame. Really. No, honestly.
Jerry Andrews: Anyway, the Icey for most hated goes to... Alexa Black!
"Black Widow" by In This Moment roars out and the booing starts loudly, almost drowning out the music.
Alexa Black steps up onto the stage, her face lit up with a wicked smile. She picks up the Icey and looks out at the crowd.
"Most hated? You ain't seen nothing yet."
Winner: Alexa Black (Runner up: The Black Hand [Mr. Showtime; Grimm; Sadistic; Justin "Stormm" Michaels])
With that, Alexa Black turns and walks off stage as the show heads to commercial.
The show returns with a shot of the outside of the Peace Center. A blue rust bucket Ford pulls up. Its engine sputters and burbles as it pulls into a parking space and then stops as they keys are taken out of the ignition.
A creak is heard as the doors open on both sides and the occupants leave the vehicle and slam the doors shut behind them. Two large figures walk out in front of the truck before stopping for a moment to admire the moderate size building that stands in front of them.
"Look at the size of this place brother it's huge. Even out home ain't this big. I bet there must be heaps of city folk in there right now."
"Of course. This is the place out brother told us about on the telephone. This is the PCW and this is our new home. Inside here is where we unleash our fury and decimate the wicked. Come lets go inside and say hello"
They walk together towards the building and come to a set of doors that are closed and guarded by two of PCW's security team. They are both standing there with their arms crossed and eyes firmly ahead.
"Can I help you gentlemen?" the security guard enquires with a quizzical look on his face. He is not used to seeing people like these two.
"Why yes my good man you can indeed. I need to enter the building and converse with one of the people inside. I have come a long way to see her and it's urgent that I talk to her." The husky man says with a smile.
"I'm afraid I can't do that sir. Please come back another time and you will be able to buy tickets and come inside. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
The large man looks at his companion who nods and he lunges foreword and lifts the security guard by the throat and who is not a small man at least a foot or more off the ground before driving him down back first into the concrete were he lays motionless.
The other guard goes for his radio to call for back up but before he can reach it the other man punches him in the throat and grabs him before giving him a wicked DDT face first into the ground.
"Looks like the doors open" the large man growls .
"Yes my brother it is" his partner replies pushing open the door and walking into the building as the camera man follows them up the corridor we see them come to a door and stop knocking on it sharply three times and after a moment it opens and they are ushered inside before the door slams shut.
Jerry Andrews: What the hell was that?
Ace Anderson: I have no idea.
Jerry Andrews: Well, it's time for our last award of the program, but the awards you saw on the show aren't the only ones we gave out tonight. We'll have a full list of all winners posted on pcwrestling.org shortly and, man, there were some close contests this year!
Presenter: Shane Dodge
Past Winners: Ace Anderson (x2), Lantlas, Heavy Metal, LoKi, Grimm (x2), Whitey Ford (x2), Andy D, Rick Majors, Sadistic
Shane Dodge is standing on the stage ready to present the award.
Ace Anderson: You know, this award really should have been presented by a former winner. Like, a former two-time winner.
Jerry Andrews: Grimm? Whitey Ford?
Ace Anderson: Shut up.
"PCW is filled with great competitors and amazing stars. The last six months have seen some of the toughest competition we've seen in years. But, despite that, one competitor is being recognized here tonight as the Best Singles Star. That competitor is....."
Shane opens the envelope.
"... Sadistic!"
* STOMP * CLAP * STOMP * CLAP * STOMP * CLAP *
"God's Gonna Cut You Down" by Johnny Cash hums over the loud speakers. The lights slowly dim to pitch black as all eyes are on the stage. After several moments, the lights come back on. The crowd boos.
"Well folks, it looks like Sadistic isn't here tonight to accept his award. I will accept it on his behalf and thank you for watching here tonight!"
With that, Shane Dodge picks up the Icey and walks off the stage to a chorus of boos.
Winner: Sadistic
Jerry Andrews: Well, that's it for the awards portion of the night! Now it's time for the International Championship match!
Ace Anderson: Eira versus Mr. Showtime. These two ripped each other apart at Collision Course. I can't wait to see what will happen tonight!
The scene cuts to a wrestling ring. Jerry and Ace will call the action live from the Peace Center while the crowd will watch on the big screen.
PCW International Championship
"Mr. Showtime" Michael Wryght (International ©) vs Eira
Referee: Ed Lane
"Gold on the Ceiling" by The Black Keys begins to blare over the P.A. system and the arena darkens. A single spotlight begins to shine on the entrance way illumination none other than “Mr. Showtime” Michael Wryght. He is wearing a long black and silver sleeveless robe. He stands there with his back to the ring and his arms crossed. The back of the robe is exposed with the words in blue and silver “Mr. Showtime” and slightly behind him is the beautiful Perfection. Showtime slowly walks to the beat of the music as the only light in the arena follows him to the ring. He walks up the stairs and whips off his feet on the outside apron. He ducks under the top rope and two other spotlights shoot on him he spins and puts his arms out. He slowly makes his way to the corner crossing his wrists, with is fingers are lock making a “W.” He pulls his arms down setting off some small pyros behind him, which also begins the lights to return to the arena.
Ace Anderson: Now Eira really fired off at Showtime last time these two met in the ring.
Jerry Andrews: She was downright MEAN.
Ace Anderson: Well, he DID help permanently damage her knee.
Jerry Andrews: This is a hazardous job! You can't expect to just go through without injury.
The announcers fall silent as the interval stretches on, a tech on camera seen radioing frantically into his headset while looking towards the backstage area. Showtime puts his fists on his hips, his playboy grin taking on a hint of annoyance as the wait continues.
Jerry Andrews: Where the hell IS she?
Ace Anderson: You don't think Sadistic got a hold of her backstage, do you?
Jerry Andrews: Or maybe she got a hold of him?
Ace Anderson: Security needs to check it out, she was seen entering the building, so -"
Ace cuts off mid-sentence and crowd’s noise lapses into a wave of hushed murmurs as Audiomachine’s “Xerxes” kicks in over the PCW loudspeakers.
Jerry Andrews: Oh no, you don’t suppose...
Ace Anderson: Maybe she’s using his music to spook Wryght?
The steady thump of the bass fills the arena like a heartbeat. And it's on one of these thumps that the lights go out, plunging the crowd into total darkness with a complete blackout as the music continues it’s relentless march. A blackout that can only mean ONE thing...
*BOOM*
...the final pulse of bass explodes and the lights flash back on to find Murdoc standing in the ring - with the missing Eira!
Ace Anderson: MURDOC?! What the hell?
Jerry Andrews: And why isn’t Eira in her ring gear?
Sure enough, Eira’s normal patent leather bodysuit had apparently been left hanging in the locker room in favor of darkwash jeans and a fitted black sweater, her silvery white hair loose and flowing over her shoulders. Murdoc gestures to a tech, catching a tossed microphone and raising it to his mouth.
“Happy New Year, Mikey, how’s the wife?” Murdoc waits with an expectant grin on his face as Wryght shoots a sidelong glance at the nearest camera before pasting his best politician smile on his face. Stepping forward he opens his mouth JUST in time for Murdoc to cut him off.
“That’s great, glad to hear it. New Year’s can be an inspiring time, a time to let go of the past year, release all the old grudges and misdeeds to look forward to a brand new year - and many new beginnings."
Murdoc’s hand slides from her waist to rest purposefully on her flat belly, the hushed murmurs gradually building to cheers.
"That’s right!” Murdoc nods, patting her belly before letting his hand drop to hold her hand. “In what may be one of the more terrifying genetic combinations in recent history, we’ve discovered that Eira is expecting.”
Jerry Andrews: Wow!
Ace Anderson: Holy [censored]!
The crowd is going bananas, a mix of cheering, shouting, and a few jeers thrown in for good measure.
“However, I owe you, the PCW Faithful, an apology. You came to see a match tonight between these two impressive competitors, and instead the Ghost of Brutalities Past shows up with an announcement. While she's medically cleared to compete for another couple weeks it's been decided that she'll begin her maternity leave effective immediately.”
Jerry Andrews: So Eira’s going to be gone for what, nine months?
Ace Anderson: I’d say more like a year... this isn’t exactly a cushy office job, her body would have to be fully recovered!
Jerry Andrews: Is she even going to come back?
Ace Anderson: Shh, listen.
"Now I know -"
Murdoc pauses to give the crowd time to settle, the cheering finally petering out to the occasional hoot or holler. Bringing the mic back to his lips, this uncharacteristically genial version of PCW’s Unclean Beast continues.
"I know Eira will be back someday, probably as soon after Nature runs its course as she can. This may be a good point to mention that despite rumor and wrangle, I am under obligation to neither confirm nor deny my possible return to Pure Class Wrestling."
A mix of cheers and boos wave through the crowd.
"It’s been months, and a lot has happened while I’ve been away. I’ve seen the articles, I’ve heard the recordings - my very manhood has been challenged based on my not treating my wife as a insipid damsel in distress. To them, I have only one thing to say:"
Murdoc glares straight into the nearest camera, blue eyes intense with unspoken promises.
“Hope I stay gone."
He drops the mic, Eira and Murdoc turning to leave the ring and make their way back up the ramp towards the backstage area as "Gold on the Ceiling" by The Black Keys begins to play. Shiny gold confetti glitters down into the ring as the referee retrieves the bemused Showtime’s International Championship belt, draping it over his shoulder and raising Wryght’s other hand as the retaining champion.
Winner: "Mr. Showtime" Michael Wryght by forfeit.
Back in the Peace Center, Ace Anderson and Jerry Andrews are visible shocked.
Ace Anderson: Well... I believe congratulations are in order for Eira and Murdoc!
Jerry Andrews: We apologize for the lack of a match but, obviously, given the circumstances, one really wasn't possible. That said, thank you for joining us here tonight and for continuing to support everyone here in PCW. We're looking forward to 2016 and we'll see you in two weeks for Trauma 185: The Five-Year Anniversary Special!
