I’ll try my best to keep this from becoming novel length, but no promises! Lol. Right off the bat I’ll say this was a great show and as always is the case with results, well worth the wait.
I’m glad the Imagine Dragons song won in the voting. I had voted for it and felt that lyrically, it was a perfect fit for the event. So that was cool to see. I loved the show opener with Wryght barking out orders to security. It hooked me in immediately and kept me guessing as to who he was talking about. Needless to say when the reveal happened, I was very surprised. Had not guessed him at all.
The demolition derby aka Underground Brawl was a solid way to open the show. Multi-person matches can be a pain to write, especially given the action transpiring in and out of the ring, but this was good. I especially dug the very first line after everyone had entered:
“And in an instant...pandemonium.”
That sums up the match really well. Kudos to Chris Parsons on picking up the victory.
Baby Jenks vs Rick Majors did not disappoint. He finally got his wish and was able to get a member of The Darkness in a match. I wasn’t around when Majors was an active talent, so it was fun to see him in action here. Welcome back btw! Jenks was aggressive from the bell and unloaded on a rusty Rick Majors. Each time he would mount some offense, she’d quickly put him right back down. And then came the plunder...haha. Oh and blood. This was a really good match, with plenty of action that kept me engaged. Nice win for the returning Majors, although he paid dearly for via a triple powerbomb. So now the question becomes when will we see him compete again? Got to figure he’s anything but done with the group.
The Brenna/Saniti/Kelli segment made me lmao and was a really good piece that connected together the events situated around the former tag team champs. The description of the gift, what to feed them in the case of getting hungry, the singing of folk songs (it should bust out some Harry Chapin) and the fact it voted for Bernie Sanders, all gave me a really good laugh. I absolutely love the little touches to such weird encounters like that. Nicely written guys
Dontevius Ellis scores what has to be considered an upset victory, and the biggest so far of his early PCW career over Kelli Starr. I really appreciate the consistency of having Saniti out there for protections sake. Not because I’m involved in it, but because it’s a good continuation that adds a lot to the story itself. Equally as cool was Kelli requesting that Nathan return to the back, so as to not be distracted. Again, the little details. But his commentary remarks also added something. The match itself was really good, and this line gave me a chuckle:
“Did Malave forget to pay the electric bill again?”
Really good back-and-forth match, and now “All Day” will face Nathan on the upcoming Trauma. Interesting stuff there.
And now we have the first semi-final between Brenna Gordon and St. Jury, both of whom I’m big fans of. Giving that this was an Underground Title match and St. Jury having been a former champion in the division, and one hell of a formidable foe within the concept itself, I was really excited to see how Brenna would do. Her success has been well documented, so this was sure to be an excellent match with a contrast of styles. I loved her frustration during the times she couldn’t put him away, and as said, St. Jury is right at home in this kind of match. So it didn’t take long for the weapons to appear. A great win for Brenna as she moves on to the final. But St. Jury gave her all she could handle in defeat. Awesome match guys.
Dan Fierce vs Nathan Saniti. Or as Andy D called it on Pulse, “Dan on Dan action,” actually surprised no one jumped on that lol. Again, another contrast of styles here. I’ve always been a big fan of the Nathan Saniti character, and also feel like Dan Fierce has become a very compelling read. Privately I’ve expressed such to Dan during our chats, but there’s some really awesome stuff being put out in the RP’s. If no one has yet, read his Manifest Destiny work.
Like with Ellis, Fierce defeating Saniti will go down as an upset. The match was really well put together, with plenty of offense for both men. Two false finishes setting up the final nail in the coffin (unintentional foreshadow there) was awesome. A great win for Mr. Fierce as he now sets up a showdown with Brenna Gordon later in the show.
NCM vs Alexa Back. This was hands down my favorite match of the night. Man, it delivered on the brutal violence I was expecting to see from these two and it began during NCM’s entrance no less. I loved this match. Two people who outright hate one another, beating the living shit out of the other for the right to be called North American Champion.
“There’s a spider on our table! Ohmigod get it off, get it off!” was hilarious. This was a huge win for Alexa Black and as I told Simon in the shoutbox, congrats on winning the NA title. Well earned and is the third upset of the night. NCM is no slouch to defeat. But yeah. Brutal match here and gets two thumbs up from me.
My segment I won’t comment on other than I had a blast writing it with Kris, so I’ll thank her again for the participation. I much rather collaborate when it comes to involvement with other characters, rather than hope like hell I do them justice by writing it myself lol. But yeah, much appreciated in having her agree to take part in it <3
So now we’ve got the International Title Match. The outcome wasn’t in doubt given that Michael had things come up IRL which kept him from being able to RP. I know Andy didn’t want to win it that way (understandable), but I’ll still say congrats on capturing the gold. Like with Majors, this is my first time seeing how Andy is in the ring. MURDOC showing up legit took me by surprise. Going forward it will be very interesting to see what happens in regards to him. This was a good match overall though and I’m sure there will be a rematch down the line.
So Grimm has officially become a FIVE TIME, FIVE TIME, FIVE TIME, FIVE TIME, FIVE TIME PCW Champion, sucka! Lol. Kidding aside, that’s a HUGE feat he just pulled off. I have no idea how many titles he’s held here, or more specifically how many times each. But Nate is one hell of a writer and easily one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. So a big congrats to him for the latest accomplishment. Winning it ONE time is hard enough. So for him to do what he has done, speaks volumes.
These two are obviously no strangers to one another. I really enjoy Kaard’s daredevil style, as his speed keeps people off balance. The high flying offense on display was fun to read, and I think both guys delivered the goods with the top title on the line. I doubt it’s the last we see of the pairing, which is fine with me. Really excellent match from both and an equally good read.
A big congrats to Dan for winning the tourney and a congrats as well to Thaly for making it to the final. Both are first timers in the tourney itself, so to get to the last match is great to see. The opening cat and mouse games was a nice start. Kinda get under her skin some, as she’s ready to uncoil almost immediately. And why not? The prize is big. Intense sums this up and with the fatigue factor kicking in, wasn’t a lengthy match. Some are surprised by the outcome, and I felt like it could go either way. I’ll be interested in seeing what Dan comes up with for a celebration, and equally so on when he cashes in on whichever title he chooses to go after.
The closing segment took me by surprise. I was NOT expecting it to go the way it did, so kudos for catching me there, because I thought Kelli would still physically be in the coffin. Looking forward to seeing the follow up to this and to continue building the story. Awesome ending to a damn good show. My hat is off to everyone. Now onto Trauma 193!
