This was a hell of a show from start to finish. Huge kudos to the staff and writers. As is always the case, the results were well worth the additional (and understandable) wait. A damn good and awesome way to cap off 2016 with. And now onto my long winded, random commentary and general feedback!
Megadeath
Cool looking .gif with the cheering crowd.
Ace Anderson: I just hope Murdoc shows up.
Jerry Andrews: Don’t even joke about that.
(hahaha)
Kyle Shane vs Desmond Campbell the II*KS going for a quick pin.
*KS drops DC2 (eat your heart out, EC3) with a devastating German suplex!
*belly to belly suplex from KS that would get Scott Steiner’s approval. Maybe. May even send him into a roid rage…
*Patriot Act from DC2!
*Pieces of Eden and this one is in the books.
Winner: Kyle Shane
Thoughts: Good, brisk opener. I really like the Kyle Shane character and definitely his finisher name. This reminded me of a throwback in a way, and as a fan of old school wrestling, is a good thing. DC2 much like TEC, no showed on the RP front for whatever reason and rightly deserved the L for it. But good work, KS!
No time to take a breath...BECAUSE!! (No, it’s not NEW...DAY ROCKS!)…
Triple Threat/Underground Title Match*Lunacy making his entrance in a friggen Desert Storm era tank!
Ace Anderson: I think it’s symbolic, the former King of the Underground is showing he’s willing to go to war to reclaim his Underground championship.
*(about Crazy Boy) Ace Anderson: Easily everyone’s pick for this match, and the consensus from these people is either “Oh god why” or “please no!”
*CB and Lunacy having no part of the champ’s shit talking, as they level Cory with a right...who then becomes a human pinball.
*head-meet announce table.
Ace Anderson: Stop, you’re giving him a tumor!!
*Million Dollar knee lift!
*Lunacy attempts a DVD which he calls Thorazine (nice choice)
*He hits it on both Crazy Boy and Cory Steel!
*Diamond cutter...BANG!!
#prayforace
Ace Anderson: It’s a dog pile, just like the one I found you in under all those guys in that bath house that one time, Jerry.
*Four German Suplexes from CB to Lunacy. The fifth and final one delivered sends the champ flying across the ring, as Lunacy clung to him for resistance...but because he’s Lun-a-cy, SUPER GENIUS, makes sure that he’s not the only one taking punishment.
*Crazy Drop!
*Lunacy with a pendulum backbreaker.
*Uh-oh. The concrete floor (circa WCW 1992) is about to get exposed. Will someone deliver a jackhammer onto it?? (sorry, lame joke, I know).
*Coils of Madness from Lunacy!
*Ace Anderson: ...Cory has been a dominant force in the Underground division.
*RIP Spanish Announce Table.
*Check CB for a concussion on the high spot miss. Ouch!
*Trouble in the East from Cory Steel!
*Millenium Suplex from CS!
*Lunacy kicks out!
*Lunacy...getting chants/cheers…
*CS teeing off on Lunacy’s face with Steel Hands.
*CB annhilates CS with a devastating clothesline.
*Furious action and a kickout BONANZA between all three men (lots of good stuff in that whole section. I’ll let others find out what I’m talking about).
*Tank distraction (clever) allows Lunacy to hit The Blue Pill on Cory Steel to pick up the win AND the title!
Winner and NEW Underground Champion: Lunacy
Thoughts: First and foremost, I love the tank idea. Especially as it pertained to the bluff at the end. Congrats to Lunacy on becoming a 2x Underground Champion. I think for what his character persona is, he’s a perfect fit for the division and could be tough to unseat a second time. This was a solid, action packed match. Wasn’t the hardcore spot fest we’ve come to know and love over time, but it didn’t have to be. I’m sure these three haven’t seen the last of one another.
SEGMENT: SeromineBeing the author of that, I won’t be saying anything on it. Well, yeah I will. It’s one of the rare times that I actually liked something I wrote. But past that, I’ll leave it to everyone else’s judgment.
North American Title Match: N. Saniti vs Alexa Black ©Ace Anderson: I heard that, yeah, but the match says N. Saniti not the harvesters.
Jerry Andrews: Most matches say “Alexa Black” instead of “The Darkness,” but she still brings friends…
*Alexa wasting no time in bringing the war to Saniti’s face.
*Saniti returns the favor, both inside and outside the ring.
Jerry Andrews: Christ.
Ace Anderson: You musn’t blaspheme.
Jerry Andrews: I – wait, what?
*Hangman’s neckbreaker from Alexa.
(there are some funny quips on commentary in this match)
*Alexa and Nathan beating one another without the other getting too much of an upper hand…
*OOOOH, Black Widow onto an open chair! O-U-C-H.
*Alexa going to down a near motionless N. Saniti.
*Darkness vs Harvesters!
*The ref has seen enough.
Winner: Draw by way of Double DQ
Thoughts: These two have a storied history and the DQ finish works here. Especially because the aftermath brings out PCW President Wryght to book these two in a rematch, OFF GROUNDS, with waivers signed, where they will be free to murder one another over the N. American Title. I’m REALLY looking forward to reading that match at the Icey’s. As for what we got in this match, it was good. Again, the commentary banter provided me some laughs. The action was stiff with a dash of restrained violence. The finisher on a chair was a nasty spot. All of this and what’s happened prior is going to lead to a bloodbath for the ages.
Triple Threat/International Title Match*Andy D and High Tide glower at each other and Seromine as he smirks diabolically, seemingly unfazed by their presences.
*Schoolyard bully tactic from Andy and Tide drop the vilified preacher (loved being called that).
*Rage flares as the taller and heavier Seromine sticks a boot to the jaw of rebounding Andy D. Tide once again uses the distraction to his advantage. This time, he gets caught as he charges the champ, getting greeted by a nasty clothesline that practically pendulums the pirate port wise (ouch!).
*planked plunderer lol.
*Andy leaps to his feet again, shouting to get the fans behind him, only to spin around just in time for an early Christmas present of a clothesline that nearly decapitates the high flyer.
Jerry Andrews: Oh Em Gee! Did you see his neck on that move?
Ace Anderson: It’s called The Lord’s Prayer. Yes I did. And did you just go full twelve year old girl with that whole “Oh Em Gee” thing? (lol).
*High Tide takes advantage following a crossbody, with a snap suplex for his opponents.
*Andy ensures HT can’t get the victory, then plants him with Schmerzilch!
*Seromine takes his turn to break the pin attempt, followed by mudhole stomping.
*”REPENT, SINNERS!”
*Andy breaks a pin count following Seromine’s brainbuster.
*Messiah-plex!
*Tide breaks the pin count on that.
*Lay with the Fishes!
*Andy breaks that count!
*Tide-Andy engage in a slugfest
*Dragon’s Bite!
*A rather nasty Ashes to Ashes on Andy D from Seromine nets him the victory and retaining of his title.
Winner and STILL International Champion: Seromine
Thoughts: I don’t know who wrote my matches these last couple times, but I have loved how he’s been captured. It’s spot on the money with how I see him. I also love the little nicknames as well, as they provide added touches. So kudos to the writer(s). The match was a lot of fun, with great flow and some nice back-and-forth on the pins/finishers. I thought everyone got a chance to look good and have their moments. Really good match.
Grimm vs Kelli Starr(must not let Grimm’s theme get stuck in my head LOL).
*Grimm glares down at the more miniscule Starr, but her eyes never divert. A menacing snarl crosses the Lord of Misrule’s face as Kelli talks a bit of smack at him.
*Ginger beard man! (LOL).
*Grimm stalks across the mat, reaching down to grab the Candy Girl (paging New Edition), but the nimble minx rolls out of the ring. She tauntingly invites Grimm to give chase, but the Hangtown Horror only waggles a finger, stepping back and crossing his arms as he waits for her to rejoin him.
*He clutches slightly at his ribcage as Kelli bounces off of the ropes for a shoulder block takedown, but she runs into an unmoving wall of Dillinger. She hits the cables again to the same effect. One more attempt brings her within range of a flying lariat from the Hangtown Horror.
*He gathers his foe by the legs, dragging her to the center for a Foddershock. He picks her up for another, driving her glittery face into the mat again. As he attempts a third one, Kelli uses the upwards motion to monkey flip Grimm onto his back for a quick one count.
*Kelli rebounds off of the ropes, leaping up, wrapping her legs around Grimm for a tilt-a-whirl hurricanrana that throws him halfway across the ring. As Grimm sits up, she charges in with a baseball slide drop kick that nearly careens the Lord of Misrule out of the ring. Kelli yanks Grimm back into the ring by the legs, making a wish accentuated with a stomp to the midsection.
*Dubstep DENIED!
*Skull shattering headbutts from Grimm.
*Cherry on Top!
*Back-and-Forth action on the outside.
*Grimm’s blood has made an appearance.
*Sword of Heimdall headbutt!
*Dollface’s blood has also made an appearance.
*Blood splattered on her own noggin, Kelli staggers backwards, but doesn’t have a chance to recoup, as the Dillinger Brother keeps up the relentless onslaught. Knees, feet, and arms fly in a furious pace, driving the colorful Kelli deeper into the corner. Grimm mounts the turnbuckle to add leverage to his attack. He puts Kelli in a headlock and leaps off.
*The Harvest picks up the win for Grimm, as he becomes number one contender to the World Title.
Winner: Grimm
Thoughts: This might be my favorite match of the night. Like Alexa-Saniti, these two have a long history together. Both handlers are extremely talented writers, and have characters that I really enjoy reading. This was a really, really good match. The lack of commentary sans the finish was interesting. Both busting the other open was a nice touch. Lots of hard hitting action throughout. Solid effort, guys. Congrats to Grimm on becoming number one contender.
SEGMENT: Surprise times two*WHITEY FORD and EIRA!!
The first part is such a lively, colorful, hilarious exchange of words between these two. I LOVED this whole entire segment. I was going to go through and pick out some of my favorite parts, but honestly, I wouldn’t be doing justice to it as a whole that way. But I WILL point out this is what led me to drop
#EmilioEstevez. Eira vs Whitey Ford*Eira goes to town on Whitey’s face with a barrage of lefts and rights.
Jerry Andrews: Looks like Ford remembers what kind of damage Eira can do!
*As Eira argues with the official, Ford takes her down with a chop block! He follows it up with a rough twist of her left knee, dropping an elbow onto the joint!
Jerry Andrews: And it looks like Ford remembered about that knee of hers, the Snap Crackle Pop delivered by the Black Hand nearly crippling her.
*Ford with a shortarm clothesline, followed with a hangman’s neckbreaker.
*Eira battles her way out with rights and lefts, sheer ferocity gaining headway until she has enough room to tackle Whitey down to the mat to start unloading on him with fists again! He covers up and manages to roll out of the ring to regain his composure.
*Suicide dive from Eira!
*Ford hits a sharp jab to her midsection! Eira’s torso appears to curl around his fist from the force of the blow, Whitey yanking his hand free and giving her a good ol’ schoolyard shove into the turnbuckle!
*Ford continues to batter away at Eira, somehow missing – or avoiding – her skull as though mindful of the head injuries he capitalized on in his last tenure.
*She charges at him, but he dodges and shoves at Eira, causing them both to stumble. Recovering in seconds, Eira whips around to face Whitey Ford as he lunges, lifting one big, black, heavy-treaded boot to level Ford with a kick to the face!! Eira grabs Whitey by the hair and lifts him to his feet, but he twists in her grasp to fire a punch into her sternum! They release each other in pained unison, hands on knees and starring at each other, panting and ragged, when suddenly the lights go out!
Jerry Andrews: Oh hell...looks like Murdoc is coming to play!
*A reasonable assumption, but the strobing lights show a very different scene! With the distorted visual of frenetic, psychological thriller style stop motion camera work, a coterie of nightmarish children’s characters come into view!
Jerry Andrews: SEROMINE! Seromine and his crew are here, and they’re surrounding the ring!
Winner: No Contest.
Jerry Andrews: I don’t believe it! Whitey “The Asshole” Ford and Eira are joining forces!
Thoughts: Like with the verbal showdown, I’m going to leave the match aftermath for everyone else to read. If I didn’t I would be quoting the entire segment.
I loved what was brewing in the match itself. I’ll have to brush up on their history together, but the match was rock solid. I marked out over both showing up and was equally excited about the match happening. The follow up with my character and his followers was fucking incredible. I LOVED how the entrance got worded and could vividly seeing it happen in real time. Their appearance forcing Eira and Ford to have to bond together and fight off the threat was equally well done, doubly so once the calvary arrived. I especially want to highlight:
“Eira and Whitey begin to lose ground as the contingent closes in around them, viewers strongly reminded of a zombie horde closing over the last survivors of the apocalypse...”
I’m very humbled/honored to be included in such a moment, and especially as it pertains to Eira and Whitey. With who came running down to assist and all of the nightmarish chaos going on, it really, really gave a lasting moment and visual. 2017 should certainly be interesting with everything that has gone on in the show so far. But from start to finish, this whole section was really, really, awesome. Kudos to Kris and Dustin on it
I seriously dig the history run-down of Fierce and Murdoc. I’m not sure how everyone feels about those sorts of things being placed in shows, but for rivalries and whatnot, I think it adds importance. Plus, it’s a nice refresher.
World Title Match: Dan Fierce vs Murdoc (c)*OMG, Fierce’s entrance! (lmao). Holy shit.
**Magic Mike gone Murdoc, the fake chop, the SASHAY into some “well placed twerking.”
(Great stuff, Dan. It gave me quite a bit of laughter. Gotta love the visual of the theatrics).
Jerry Andrews: This is already intense. You can feel the animosity between these two competitors from our announce table.
Ace Anderson: Imagine the intensity inside of the ring!
*Suddenly, Dan Fierce slaps Murdoc across the face! The crowd gasps.
Jerry Andrews (it says Anderson in the result): OhMyGod...That probably wasn’t safe. You DO NOT want to piss off Murdoc.
Ace Anderson: Dan Fierce wants to show Murdoc – and the world – that he’s not afraid.
*The slap sends Murdoc into a rage. He tackles Fierce down to the mat and unloads on him with a series of rights and lefts to the face. Fierce tries to cover up, but Murdoc is relentless. Eventually the referee tries to pull Murdoc off of his opponent. This causes the champ to stand up and stare down the official.
Jerry Andrews: Fierce taking the early advantage here!
Ace Anderson: He’s come out on fire – pardon the pun!
Jerry Andrews: What was the pun? “Come out” or “on fire?”
*Sidewalk slam-leg drop, brother!-brainbuster combo from Murdoc gets a 2 count.
*Murdoc pulls Fierce up again and he lifts him onto his shoulder. Murdoc now sends Fierce crashing into the mat with a running powerslam! Murdoc now unloads with a series of punches! The referee pulls Murdoc off of Fierce. Murdoc pushes the ref aside and he pulls Fierce to his feet. Murdoc sets Fierce up and he delivers a piledriver.
Jerry Andrews: That could have snapped Fierce’s neck!
*Dan Fierce channeling his inner Chumbawamba as he gets knocked down, but gets knocked down again, because Murdoc will never ever keep him down!
*Murdoc with a brutal powerbomb!
Jerry Andrews: Dan Fierce kicks out!
Ace Anderson: Murdoc might have to kill him to keep him down!
Jerry Andrews: Quiet! He’ll hear you!
*Fierce scores with a sudden jumping enzuigiri that puts the champ down!
*Murdoc gets worked over with by a second wind from the challenger, who also chops down the legs of the champ.
*Figure-WOOOO!-Four in the center of the ring.
*Murdoc looks HURT from the punishment of the submission.
*A second figure-four attempt is foiled.
*Snake Eyes!
Ace Anderson: Murdoc making Fierce use energy with each and every one of these kick outs. That’s the veteran ability of Murdoc coming out here tonight.
*Murdoc with a sickening brainbuster through the announce table and straight down to hell the floor!! (OUCH!).
*Fierce KICKS OUT because fuck paralyzation!
*Hurricanrana back in the ring from Fierce.
*GLITTER BOMB!
* Murdoc KICKS OUT of that!
*OBLIVION!...misses!
Ace Anderson: Dan Fierce has been chipping away at the armor of Murdoc all match and it seems to be working.
*MAKEOVER!
*It gets the three! And we have a changing of the guard!
*Dan Fierce stands up and then falls to his knees as the reality of the moment hits him. The referee enters the ring and hands him the PCW World Championship. The crowd explodes as Dan Fierce raises the title above his head in victory.
Jerry Andrews: After everything he’s been through, in PCW and in life, Dan Fierce can now call himself champion!
Winner and NEW World Champion: Dan Fierce
Thoughts: Hell of a main event. Before I go any further, a HUGE Congrats to Dan on winning the World. We talk quite a bit and I know what winning this meant to you. Well deserved, my friend. The match was fantastic. It looked like Murdoc was going to go full rage mode and beat the tar out of Fierce for awhile...and then in came the resiliance and the “Goonies never say die!” attitude (lol). Actually...I pictured the early matches of Big Van Vader and Sting. If anyone remembers those, you’ll know what I mean. Really great action packed main event. That announce table brainbuster was brutal. Jesus. Those poor tables sure get abused. Good thing PCW has a surplus on hand, hahaha.
Great, great show to end the PPV cycle with. Now onto the Icey’s and what could be the final chapter in the war between Alexa Black and Nathan/N. Saniti.
