The Star of Babylon - Lust - Chapter 6
The hostess returned to her favored post on the outer atrium overlooking the gardens lining the eastern side of the building. She watched with near sadistic glee as many a smitten, gorgeous, and otherwise virile-looking, young men danced half-naked to music unheard, trancelike. Their bodies glistened with sweat that gave the summer air a bit of a sweet tang. Some of the men danced to remember her porcelain skin against theirs in the throes of passion. Others danced to forget the delicate seductress that had lured them into such a mental state. They were possessions, toys, playthings to her now, tossed aside, under a spell, to the courtyard when she tired of them.
Each had offered their bodies to her in turn. Some had offered material possessions; baubles, designer dresses, even a Mercedes Benz. Even a creature such as she felt the tug of wealth very powerful. Her influence over these unfortunate souls was what she has prized most. Before she had came to this desolate oasis, she had been shunned by everyone in her life. A homely and plain woman living a penniless and unremarkable existence, she felt unloved, undesired, and unwanted. She'd made a bargain with the proprietor to help with... certain things, in exchange to feel "more complete" in her life.
It had been a blessing. And a curse. Now, she found toying with the hearts of men far too easy. It had been neither the challenge nor the thrill she had envisioned. Pity seeped into her eyes for those under the lock of her enchantment. She knew what fate was in store for them very soon. She'd witnessed it firsthand several times. There was just enough of her humanity left for that, but it withered away like a summer breeze, diminishing with each season.
"Excuse me, Ma'am," chirped the half-naked bellhop that had delivered the unknown luggage from Nathan's company earlier.
She spun wordlessly, her crimson dress flowing hypnotically in the light wind. The bellhop gulped audibly, doing everything in his power to maintain his own composure against her allure. She smiled sweetly, reaching up to caress his flawless complexion. Her very touch sent electricity through his body causing him to shudder and moan lightly, involuntarily. Using what may have been the last of his will, he steeled himself.
"The Captain wishes to see you, Ma'am." He closed his eyes to fight against his desires, his hands fidgeting open and closed in a futile exercise.
She leaned in to whisper in his ear. "Tell him I'll be right there."
The wisp of her breath sent chills shooting across his extremities. He bent forward suddenly. It wasn't a bow of respect. It was a release far more primal and beyond his control. His body lurched from the force, his face flushed with embarrassment as what qualified for a uniform became soiled. His knees buckled as his contortions subsided. As he regained his posture, his hands slowly went to his midsection in an effort to obfuscate his body's betrayal.
"I..." he stammered, "I'll tell him right away." The bellhop shuffled away, still attempting a shred of dignity, even in such an atmosphere as this.
"The Captain?" she pondered inwardly. She wondered if there had been a request put in for her company. She hoped that the tall, pale, and morose gentleman with pitch black hair and a stripe of white had been the one to make such an appeal.
There was something different about him, something intriguing. It wasn't his virginity. Gomorrah knows she'd had her fair share of those, and they were quite overrated. Fun little playthings, they were, but boring beyond compare with their inexperience.
But this... Neville? There was something much more to him. The others in his party would take care of themselves, but she had made it a point to stand out amongst the other guests in that one's mind. He'd certainly planted himself within hers with his air of mystery and sullenness.

Meanwhile, in their suite, Nathan and Kelli had finished yet another round of love-making. And it was love-making. In fact, it could be said that beyond the pale of creating Balance itself, it had been every bit as passionate each time. They allowed each other breaks long enough to indulge in replenishing fluids and nourishment, but apart from that, they barely left the bed.
Their clothes hadn't been worn since they first succumbed to their desire for each other, but it wasn't a carnal need they had been fulfilling. It was something much deeper; love. Their schedules had scarcely allowed them to enjoy each other the way lovers should in quite some time. To them both, this had almost felt like a vacation.
They lay there, drenching their bedclothes in another round of sweat as they rested, panting, grinning the smiles of newlyweds on their honeymoon. "Have you given any thought to Whitey?" questioned Kelli.
"My dearest, if I had, I can assure you we'd not be making love quite so successfully."
The quip caught her so far off-guard, that she remained speechless for several seconds before a full belly laugh took over. Finally she calmed down enough to explain her question to a quizzical Nathan. "No, I mean, have you thought about what you're going to do with him as your opponent?"
"Mr. Ford is quite a capable opponent, indeed, my sweet,: Nathan began, "but I fear that he and I both have much more to worry about that a mere contest of skills."
Now it was Kelli's turn to be confused. Eventually, it dawned on her what he was talking about. "Seromine and Maj... I mean, Gabriel?"
Nathan's face soured at the mention of the turncoat they had once called an ally. "Indeed. I fear they may make an attempt to carve a larger name for themselves by attacking Mr. Ford and I as we are distracted with our own contest. T'would be a perfect opportunity to preach their style of gospel. Even combined he and I don't have the numbers needed to overcome that rabble."
"Whitey has his friend Bob. You have the Harvesters." She curled up in his chest, knowing it was something she could do to relax the tension from the subject at hand. "You have me," she cooed expectantly.
"With you by my side, I feel as if I can accomplish nearly anything, my love," he hesitated, "but I fear even that may not be enough to overcome such a challenge at Living a Legacy when he and I meet to unify our titles."
"It's just not fair," Kelli whined lightly. "Why did Loki want to do that? Why did he choose to put you at risk of losing yet another title?"
"My dearest, the gold is meaningless without the challenge, and the challenge is impossible when the roster is too thin. I am far more concerned with the concept of Seromine having the influence to ensnare someone whom we thought we knew." Nathan sighed heavily, Kelli's caresses upon his body soothing his jangled nerves. His eyes closed as he calmed his heartbeat to match hers. "I suppose Mr. Ford and I shall have quite the battle regardless. There's no loss of love betwixt us."
Kelli's hand slipped lower and lower in a circular motion, Nathan's body responding in kind. "I'm sure glad you don't feel that way about me."
With a quick motion, Nathan pounced onto her, kissing her deeply. Finally breaking their liplock, his hand explored his beloved's face. "I would never dream of it."
The lovers spent the remainder of the day in each other's arms, lost in each other's eyes. And forgetting the company they had arrived with completely.
