Shit, man, what a main event.
I wanted to continue woth segments like I did last Trauma but writing it in execution it wasn't working like I thought. Still going back to the drawing board because we need more segments next time.
Notorious (I like that team name) opening segment was ballsy, well written, and set the tone for a damn good show of wrestling. Both the triple threat and if I may say, the main event really delivered. And a surprise squash match over a hilariously named jobber showed us what Johnny V is capable of. Great show, guys.
Best rps of the week were Stormm, Dominator, Vivacious, and Hiroshi.

...because we need more segments next time. I submitted mine pretty early, so it must have gotten lost in the shuffle over the course of the cycle. I'm going to post it in the 'Around the Arena' board.

Another fun Club V segment opens the show. Notorious has this sort of nWo/DX "cool" vibe to them. You guys know what I mean by that? Those two stables hit the scene and not only made an instant impact, but stood out for their antics. It's a compliment to both Joe and Justin on making their idea work as well as it has. It's a collective between two long-time friends, but also advances their own individual characters without stepping on the other. We are invited to watch them having fun, and damn if it hasn't been.
Simon has been on fire since bringing Hiroshi back. He put forth another strong segment that continued where the previous left off, building up the drama as to who in the heck he is seen talking with. The Yukio v Dominator match should be awesome. Two big gd guys in an Underground title match. Keep up the good work, Simon!
Speaking of Dominator...
That was a highly entertaining bout with Gabriel. I was interested in seeing how the contrast would come off, knowing the personas of the represented characters. I wasn't disappointed. It was a wild one that hit all the right notes for me, kept me engaged, gave me some chuckles, and was an excellent contest across the board. Big win for Dominator. Gabriel looked strong in defeat.
What's this? Grimm doing an in-ring promo! One of my favorite things about the character (and perhaps a little underrated on a grander scale) is the neutrality of the character. He is the resident "boogeyman," his history is well documented, but Grimm doesn't just jump into anything. I don't think I'm explaining what I mean properly lol. Let me illustrate by highlighting parts of his segment:
“I don’t know why he decided on me, and I’m not going to stand here and tell you I understand that logic. Maybe it’s how the roulette ball fell. Maybe he threw a dart over his shoulder at a PCW roster and hit me right between the eyes. Maybe he figured, what better way to attempt a comeback than to challenge the Hangtown Horror.”
Grimm holds out his hands and shrugs.
See how he responds to Johnny V? Now when you keep reading his speech:
“What was it Stormm said…’the point he’s trying to prove is that it doesn’t matter who he steps into the ring with, or when, or where, he’s ready to go.’”
Those pale ginger brows knit into a scowl of the utmost severity.
“I’ve built my career proving that very point. Over and over again for years on end, I’ve unloaded on all comers while people like Johnny Vivacious have left and returned on multiple occasions. I’ve fought his kind back then, I fight them now, and I will fight them again. I’m not going to name any names lest I forget someone…”
When recounting this night later to their friends, those at ringside will swear they saw Grimm wink at Ace Anderson. But that can’t be right.
“…but suffice it to say it’s a veritable PCW pantheon laid to waste in my wake.”
“So, sure, Johnny. Bring your middle fingers and your rabble rousing and your fancy duds, and I’ll bring…well, you know.”
Grimm pauses to look towards the entry way, as one does when addressing someone who is not present at the moment.
“And we will do this.”
There is this sinister calm to Grimm. He's not going to stand there and trash talk an opponent in a traditional sort of way or get involved in a battle of egos etc. Grimm is Grimm. He's an excellent contrast. When we read Johnny Vivacious, for example, he's loud, brash, obnoxious, in your face etc. Right? He came back on the scene and immediately calls out GRIMM. That's IC ballsy. But what did it do? It grabbed your attention, right? So when you see how Grimm goes about his business, and how he chose to respond, you see the gears turning. Not just because we know he's a scary guy, but because he IS a true neutral.
Grimm v Johnny Vivacious has a damn good build going on. It's a match that I am REALLY looking forward to seeing play out, and ahead of time, could be a MOTN contender.

I am truly petrified. So much so, I believe I was one of the few that piddled.

The last two shows have had some amazing buildup. I'm already feeling like I shouldn't have left. Grimm is just terrifyingly awesome. He's what Bray Wyatt tries to be.
