"The Handyman" burst through Loki's office door, nearly taking it from its hinges. Loki barely flinches, his back turned to the portal, staring out of his office window. Handy approached the desk, slamming his fists down in rage.
Joey: I WANT HER! GIVE. ME. ALEXA. BLACK!
Loki side-eyed his visitor silently, slowly and calmly turning around.
Loki: You're fired, Handy.
Joey stood there, mouth agape in disbelief.
Joey: WHAT? FIRED? WHY?
Loki: We have a policy against fighting in this business. It says right in the employee handbook that both parties involved in a fight shall be terminated. It's there in black and white.
Loki pointed to the opened copy of the handbook, his voice even, yet somewhat sad.
Joey: THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT YOUR TALENT DOES FOR A LIVING! THEY LAY THEIR HANDS ON PEOPLE BACKSTAGE ALL OF THE TIME! NOW YOU'RE TELLING ME WE CAN'T FIGHT BACK WITHOUT REPERCUSSIONS?
Loki: It's spelled out pretty clearly right there.
Joey snatches up the handbook and begins analyzing the by-laws.
Joey: It says here that talent is exempt from this rule. Really? That's a thing? I don't remember agreeing to being a punching bag for a bunch of roid-raging assholes. The union steward will hear about this.
Loki: You agreed to it. We have the original of the affidavit you signed saying that you read and agreed to all of the rules and conditions in the handbook in your employee file. Now, please clear out your work station, take only what belongs to you, and leave the premises. I can't have the crew attacking our talent. It would set a bad precedent. I'm sorry, but my hands are tied on this.
Joey's lips purse and his teeth gnash as he pours over the handbook one last time. Finally, an idea hits him.
Joey: What if I join the roster?
Loki: Hmmm? Well, I guess that WOULD change things a bit.
Loki got a slight, pleased smirk in the corner of his mouth. It didn't go unnoticed by Handy. Joey sighs, realizing that he just made his bed, and now he has to lay in it.
Joey: You win. I'll join. One condition though. You have to let me have another crack at Alexa Black.
Loki: Paperwork is right there.
Loki indicated the slips on the desk. Joey had originally thought they were his termination papers. He picked them up, taking a better look at them.
Loki: You know what to expect with the pay rate. I ask three things of you: One, pick and train your replacement back stage. Two: Continue your investigation of the malfunctions going on around here. And three, get some training to better hone your in-ring and mic skills before facing Alexa one-on-one again, and I'll give her to you at Mass Destruction.
Joey quickly scrawled his signature on the bottom line and shifted the papers to face his boss.
Joey: Done. I already have someone in mind to move up; Henry Basser. Great work ethic. Well respected by the crew. We'll have to go through the method the right way, but he's my recommendation. As for the investigation... Well, I don't think you'd believe me if I told you.
Loki: You've met Nathan Saniti, right? You've seen some of the stuff that's happened when he was here, right? Try me.
Joey: I need to confirm my suspicions first, but you'll be the first to know once I do.
Loki: Fair enough. And the third condition?
Joey: I'm coming up empty. I don't know who I could train with. I...
Loki picked up his cell phone and dialed a number. The voice on the other side answered, but wasn't loud enough for Handy to make it out.
Loki: Could you come in here, please? ... Okay. Thanks for this.
The door to the office opened up once more and none other than "The Fabulous One" Dan Fierce sacheted through. He stopped next to Handy, his hands on his hips and his trademark grin on his face.
Loki: Handyman, meet your training guru and former PCW World Champ, "The Fabulous One" Dan Fierce. He'll help you refine your style and get in a bit of a better shape.
Dan: There's nothing wrong with a dad bod, baby, but you need to be a little less clumsy between the ropes. I should be able to help.
Joey: Help? With what? Dropping the soap?
Joey smirked, looking pleased with his jab at the former champ. Dan's expression changed to shock, his hand going up to his mouth. Sadness overcame him as he looked at Loki and then back at Joey.
Dan: Oh!
Dan approached Handy, gently placing a hand on his cheek. He returned his attention to Loki.
Dan: You didn't tell me he was handicapped. Don't worry.
Fierce playfully slapped Joey's face.
Dan: We'll teach you a bit about trash talking too. Free of charge. You might want to start him off easy.
Loki: I can put him against Razor Blade. He'll have to earn his win, but it won't be too easy.
Dan: Mmm Hmmm. That should do. It'll be a good test for him to face someone his size, but outweighs him by 70 pounds of pure muscle. Come with me.
Dan began to lead Joey away. Joey resisted for a second.
Joey: Was that innuendo?
Dan: Sweetie, I may be many things, but a home wrecker isn't one of them. Besides, if the gossip I hear is true, your home is all but condemned and bulldozed anyways. This is strictly professional. Now gear up and meet me in the training room in fifteen minutes. There's no time to waste if you want to be able to beat Alexa.
Dan once again leads Joey out the office door. Once it shuts, Loki's face changed from triumph to concern.
Loki: It's all going according to plan. Don't make me regret it.
Over in the corner of his office, a tall shadow smiled an unspeakable grin before disappearing into the darkness.
