You may be asking yourself, where is the next installment of Land of Shadows? Then again, some of you probably couldn’t care less, if you are even bothering to read this in the first place. Sometimes something comes along, and really screws with plans. Sometimes, a deer runs out in front of your vehicle while you are driving home, smashes up your vehicle, leaves your pregnant wife freaking out, and leaves you seeing nothing but black.
That’s exactly what Stormm saw as he stood on the side of the road examining the damage done to their Dodge Durango Citadel. There wasn’t even consolation in the deer still lying on the side of the road either, as it got up and meandered off as if nothing happened. Lindsay, on the other hand, was still sitting in the passenger seat trying not to cry.
Luckily the kiddos were at hope with Izzy, as the couple tried to enjoy one of their last nights out together before the arrival of their third child, planned to arrive sometime in October.
After coming to a complete stop, he asked Lindsay if she was okay, and waited for her to acknowledge that she was before asking her to call their insurance agent, and got out of the vehicle.
All he saw was black.
That was not some clever play on words referencing his upcoming opponent this week, either. Though it was a happy accident, honestly. And while he’d been preparing accordingly, like he would just about any other opponent, Alexa Black was nowhere near his biggest concern at that time; vehicle to venison collision aside.
Even if it was set to be the first time the two ever squared off in a Pure Class Wrestling ring. Wait, what? Really?! No, that can’t be right, can in? Huh, would you look at that! Yeah, no, even despite that crazy fact, she was just another screw loose in a long list of unstable fixtures supporting the company through the years.
No, winning or losing was not what the Force of Nature was really going to need to worry about later in the week, but being able to walk out of the Pure Class Arena on his own definitely was.
He’d awakened something that the sport hadn’t seen in years.
He’d brought the Anarchist back out of Willard, after years of mind games and attacks, and while he had gotten exactly what he wanted, a dream match nearly twenty years in the making coming up at Deadly Intentions, The Anarchist versus The Force of nature, he was having to live with his choices.
If anyone was going to be able to cash in on Gerard Angelo’s bounty that was placed on Stormm’s head after the Icemann Invitational, Jason Willard, in this form, was more than capable of such a feat.
A victory over or defeat against Alexa Black on Friday night would only be just another number in a column for Stormm, as the only “W” he hoped for would be to walk out on his own two feet.
Luckily for him, he would have the opportunity to walk into the arena on his own, and as the darkness of rage faded away, he found himself pacing back and forth in the middle of the county road with Lindsay yelling at him.
“Babe, get over here!” She shouted as a car pulled up behind theirs and parked.
“Who’s that?” He asked back, still standing in the middle of the road.
“He told me to get a police report, that’s probably them.” Lindsay admitted.
Justin looked at the cop car, and then back to his wife. “What?!” He shouted. “The airbags didn’t deploy, and it’s still driveable, why the hell did he tell you to call the cops?”
Still shaken up, Lindsay got extremely defensive, and engaged in the shouting right back. “I don’t know anything about this shit, Justin, I just did what you asked, and then followed the instructions he gave me!” She glanced at the cop car herself, and the policeman still hadn’t stepped out of the cruiser, and she continued. “If you would have gotten back in and told me this before I called them instead of stewing out here like that, we wouldn’t be in this situation!”
Obviously still more angry at the deer and the situation than his wife, or even the cop doing their job, he clenched his fists and let out a heavy sigh before returning to the vehicle and getting in. “Well shit!” He exclaimed as he hit the steering wheel with his right hand. “Let’s get this over with, and get home.”
“At least we’re both okay.” Lindsay said to try and diffuse the situation, but it wouldn’t do much good, as the stress that Justin had been in for most of the year to that point only seemed to keep piling on top of him; most of them brought on by himself, but others were trying real hard to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
In all fairness, it was a pretty routine situation, especially in the more rural areas of Kansas, to hit a deer, file an accident report, all before filing that ever so fun insurance claim. It did seem a little early in the year for deer to be that active, but out in the country like that, the critters were everywhere.
Now if it had happened in downtown Topeka, Kansas, where they were driving home from, or if he’d been driving his dream car instead of the family vehicle, those would have been different, even more messed up situations. So they had that going for themselves.
So, you see, for those wondering where the next installment in Stormm’s journey was this week, other things came up in his life, and he had to deal with other shadows, instead of the ones we’ve all been used to him trying to manage.
But once the World Champion has finished up his regular adulting, then maybe, just maybe, we’ll all get a chance to see where the story of him trying to find Kaden Calix leads to next. My money is on Detroit, Michigan; but I only say that because I’ve got some insider information. Then again, if you’ve been reading the series, you’d probably know that too!
