Mission Statement
Pure Class Wrestling (PCW) hopes to provide its handlers with more than just a wrestling-based game; We aim to provide a laid back community where users can interact with one another on The Board, participate in polls, and roleplay with handlers of every skill level.
The core group of handlers in PCW are competitive (this IS a competitive writing game), but they are also funny, sarcastic, witty, smart, douchey, opinionated, annoying, friendly, and generally great people. Our community aims to be the best, and to many, we are. We have to be- almost every one leaves comes back!
When it comes to us, we believe as long as you participate, you'll have a great stay. But that only starts after you register to the forum and post your profile.
So come on in, give us a try, and enjoy the ride. Just leave Eira's mustache alone.
History
(Read: Real history mixed in with PCW canonical history)
The original Pure Class Wrestling (PCW) was formed on the MSN Circuit back in 2003. It was an entirely new promotion that replaced “The Icemann" Luis Malave's old Perfect Wrestling Alliance federation. Although PCW quickly rose through the ranks of the MSN Circuit, it almost just as quickly fizzled out and closed due to a few personal issues of long-standing owner "The Icemann." To cover business costs, Luis first used Pure Class Wrestling as a developmental territory, but then proceeded to sell all assets of Pure Class Wrestling to friend and fellow promoter Paul “Lee” Williams.
After a few month sabbatical from the business, “The Icemann” joined up with the well-known Internet Wrestling League (IWL), which was run and founded by the same man who Luis sold PCW to- Paul Williams. The IWL originally gained prominence on the Geeksoft Network of promotions, but sought out to make a name of their own as an independent promotion. Luis quickly won the IWL World Heavyweight Championship, but soon found himself back on the management side of things after IWL Vice President Adam Miller disappeared from the promotion. Paul Williams offered Luis the position of Interim VP, and, after losing the IWL World Championship, “The Icemann” accepted the role.
With Luis as the new Interim VP, IWL rose to ranks it had never seen before. Due to his acumen as a promoter, and his experience as a performer, Luis was able to bring in a vast array of talented wrestlers. Mr. Malave also formed deep business relationships with some of the better-known IWL Superstars and mentored some of their lesser-known Superstars. However, after a few month reign as IWL VP, Luis was unceremoniously relieved of his duties when Paul Williams hired Leon Holmes as commissioner and former Vice President Adam Miller rejoined the scene. “The Icemann” was a bit bitter about the demotion, but, after VP Miller disappeared less than a week later, Luis once again was offered, and accepted, the role as Interim Vice President.
Although the initial demotion caused frustration, it would be a blessing in disguise. Luis worked into his new contract as Interim VP that after a month's time, if Luis was still unhappy with the way IWL was going, or was demoted again, he would be able to leave the promotion and regain all rights to the PCW assets. After a month's time, Luis and Paul agreed to part ways with one another. This led to Luis leaving the IWL and re-creating Pure Class Wrestling.
Luis joined the Proboards Network in February of 2005, and began seeking out talent and staff. “The Icemann” hired many of his former employees throughout the promotions he ran, and also hired “The Captain” Alejandro Walker as President. Two IWL Superstars who became loyal to “The Icemann” jumped ship, becoming two of the first superstars of the recreated PCW. Those two superstars were Loki, who had wrestled as Chaos in the IWL, and Pegasus.
Through his connection with The Anarchist Jason Willard and Loco, two former members of PCW who had joined IWL after Luis became VP, “The Icemann” was able to secure a contract with Landon Divine. Another superstar who jumped ship was the late Kyle Cross, who had been one of Luis's biggest foes in the IWL. Mr. Malave was also able to secure the talent of, relatively unknown at the time, Ace Anderson through a connection he made with Senor Smurf back in the Perfect Wrestling Alliance days. Many other superstars, such as Slither, Angelica Night, Sean Hunter, Innovator, “The Prophet” Marcus Murdoc, Sexay Jay, Grimm, "Mr. Mr. Showtime" Michael Wryght, The Painted Assassin, and Black Ice were soon to join. The PCW was officially back in business.
By September 2005, PCW was doing so well that it was able to buy out rival promotion Golden Canvas Grappling (GCG). By doing so, Pure Perfection Incorporated (now known as Pure Class Wrestling Enterprises), the parent company of PCW, acquired the contracts of some GCG's stars, including that of former GCG Owner Dan Ellis (Tyler Scott). Two of the more notorious names to come out of the acquisition were Hellhound and the often-ridiculed Zellmo. Of all the talent that arrived, the only one that adjusted to the buyout was Non Compos Mentis, who became one of the biggest stars in Pure Class Wrestling history and a Hall of Famer.
Around the time of PCW being infiltrated by GCG members, Pure Perfection Incorporated replaced Alejandro Walker as President with PCW business consultant Skylar Marshall. Also around this time, Pure Perfection Inc. signed the team of Unbesiegbar (later known as Dominion), two members from the fabled promotion Hardcore Hell Wrestling. That signing brought forth arguably the single greatest Superstar in PCW history, PCW Hall of Famer- Lantlas.
Over the course of the next year, PCW was headlined by Lantlas defending the PCW World Championship against Ace Anderson and others, and even had championship exchanges with Grimm. However, Lantlas's run at the top was shortened by a leave from PCW Owner Luis Malave. Before Mr. Malave took time off, Luis appointed Lantlas as Interim Authority Figure, and Lantlas removed himself from active competition during that time.
Eventually, Luis would come back to PCW and regain control, and once again named Skylar Marshall as President. But times were different, and after a few bad business gambles, and the inability to sign new talent to replace departing talent, PCW closed in mid-2007, but not before signing one of the most loved Superstars in PCW history- Heavy Metal.
PCW tried to bounce back in 2008, but after a month, it was realized that the timing was off and the promotion closed its doors once more. This time, the feeling was that it was a permanent closure. “The Icemann” himself even guaranteed that there would be no future attempts at bringing the PCW back from the dead, and sold the majority of PCW contracts to a fellow promoter of Evolution Pro Wrestling (EPW).
After closing the PCW, Luis took another sabbatical from the business, but resurfaced on the Geeksoft Network roughly a year later (later renamed to the GFed Wrestling Network) and used his experience as a promoter and judge of talent to start up the I.R.S.- or Icemann Rankings Service. By using the I.R.S., Luis was able to stay in the business, keep up with old and new talent, and satisfy any wrestling itch that may be surfacing. PCW was long gone, and "The Icemann" had really thought his words about the closure of PCW would stand true.
But they say, “never say never in professional wrestling,” for a reason. In 2011, close to three years after closing the doors of PCW, a rally of support from fans and former wrestlers alike, convinced “The Icemann” to reopen the promotion. The first thing “The Icemann” did was repurchase the assets he sold to the now-defunct EPW. The next thing that occurred was recruiting a roster of Superstars. Lots of former PCW Superstars returned, including Lantlas, Grimm, Non Compos Mentis, Mr. Showtime, Heavy Metal, LoKi, Pegasus, Murdoc, Nacho Grande, and Ace Anderson. New superstars to the promotion, some originating from the GFed Wrestling Network, also signed on, including Sadistic, Jason Scene, and Mike Park- a man who would later gain infamy after becoming PCW World Champion and then becoming a baby killer.
After a rewarding 2011, which saw longtime PCW Superstars LoKi and Justin "Stormm" Michaels finally become PCW World Champions, as well as fan favorites Nacho Grande and Heavy Metal carving their names in PCW history through their brutal feud with the dastardly Dillinger Brothers, Phinehas Grimm and Billy Sadistic, PCW continued on in 2012.
2012 saw many new PCW Superstars emerge, with Whitey Ford, 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕻𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖎𝖘𝖊𝖉 𝕰𝖓𝖉, Cory Steel, Eira, =Q=, and many others starting to carve their own niche in PCW lore. 2012 also was the year that brought LoKi and Heavy Metal into the PCW Hall of Fame for their in-character merits, while Rick Ellis, a worker behind the scenes who and the brother of Golden Canvas Grappling owner Dan Ellis, saw his stock increase; that stock increase allowed him to make his way into the OOC wing of the Hall of Fame.
In 2013, we saw the arrival of the odd Nathan Saniti, Dollface, Tyler Scott, The New Breed Foundation, and many others; We also saw Murdoc make his way into the PCW Hall of Fame, while backstage hands Shannon and Nate joined the OOC Hall of Fame.
2014 has seen lots of new faces come into the promotion, such as Joka, Seth Archer, Alexa Black, Stacy Jones, Derek Cosmos, Gem, and so many others. 2014 was also the year Murdoc finally won The Icemann Invitational Tournament (the year before saw Ace Anderson win the tournament and become the first two-time tournament winner).
While some of the superstars of old have either left or retired, PCW continues on with a mixture of the old guard and new talent alike. One thing is for certain though- PCW is here and has no plans on going anywhere!
