Jerry Andrews: Hopefully rumours will become fact as the first match is coming right up!
MATCH ONE
Singles Match
"The Adrenaline King" Justin Kaard vs. “Born in the USA” Areas
Referee: Marcos Cruz
Details: First out for the match is Justin Kaard, bouncing around as the pace of “The Kill” picks up. Riling himself up, he seems ready to go as he makes his way to the ring and awaits his opponent. He doesn’t have to wait long as “Born in the USA” washes over the arena. Areas takes to the stage, and he hits with something extra this week – an American flag. The crowd gives him a mixed reaction, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to start a ‘USA’ chant on his way down to the ring which, oddly enough, doesn’t seem to take with the crowd. Referee Marco Cruz calls for the bell as Areas his the ring, and the match is underway instantly. Kaard avoids the tie up, obviously aware of his size advantage and as Areas moves in he begins to hack away at his legs and midsection with lightning fast kicks.
After a flurry, he hits the ropes and goes for a dropkick to the knees but Areas jumps over it. Rushing forward, the portly Areas hits the ropes and comes back with his own dropkick directed towards Kaard’s knees but he’s easily avoided. While both men seem to be going for the high-flying offense to start out with, it’s obvious that the smaller Kaard is much more suited for it. Stepping forward, Kaard quickly catches the rising Areas with a rolling wheel kick for a one count. Before Kaard can take control, Areas stumbles to his feet and powers Kaard up and down quickly with a basic mat slam. Kaard kicks out before Cruz can get his hand down. Areas maintains control for a bit with some basic holds, but Kaard soon manages to wriggle his way free.
Kaard once again starts in with the kicks, using it to set the pace of his offense but soon Areas begins to fire back. Catching one of Kaard’s kicks, he steps and levels him with a hard lariat. Kaard stumbles to his feet only to be met with a barrage of stiff rights and lefts which is soon followed up with a rather heavy snap suplex for a one count for Areas. Keeping Kaard on the ground, he takes control with a headlock and keeps the high-flyer grounded. After a moment, he works Kaard to his feet and takes him down with a headlock takeover, quickly tightening the hold as Kaard tries to slip out. Performing a headstand, Kaard lets loose a flurry of knee shots that break Areas’ hold and allows him a moment to breathe. Stumbling to his feet, Areas turns around and his met with an enzuigiri and a two count.
Kaard once again lays in with the kicks, and after a quick shots to the outside of Areas’ right knee, he’s kneeling. Kaard steps in, catching Areas with a leg scissors and tosses him to the side – but Areas rolls through. Areas performs a rather unique looking evasive roll before rushing into Kaard and hitting a snap arm drag into a keylock. Kaard quickly gets out of the move, and much to the surprise of the fans he hits an arm drag on the rushing Areas. Hitting the ropes, he comes off them and uses the momentum and takes to the air for a Shining Wizard, but Areas catches him. Catching Kaard, he rushes forward with the man with ease and levels him with a hard looking powerbomb. He gets a two count, and the momentum has seemingly shifted.
Areas keeps Kaard grounded with various holds, and when he Kaard manages to get to his feet he quickly takes him back down to the mat. But it seems as though every attempt at a ‘high’ spot from Areas to Kaard is easily avoided by the smaller superstar. A lionsault attempt from Areas is when the momentum shifts back and favor of Kaard, and he wastes no time in using the opportunity to his advantage. After a series of leg lariats, Kaard runs off the ropes and goes for a running swinging neckbreaker but Areas blindsides him with a superkick! Instead of going for the three count, he looks to the top rope and begins to chant ‘USA!’. Slipping out to the apron, he takes to the top rope and waits and that’s when he goes for the Phoenix Splash and misses.
Kaard has the move scouted, and rolls towards the turnbuckle and Areas crashes and burns. Kaard takes to the top rope much quicker, almost leaping and quickly hits the corkscrew shooting star splash for the three count.
Winner: Justin Kaard via Pinfall
MATCH TWO
Showtime Classic Tag Team Match
High Tide & The Wasp (Sea Men) vs. El Musculo & Crazy Boy (Crazy Muscles)
Referee: Joseph Buckland
Details: With the team of Crazy Muscles already at ringside, Team Sea Men come down to the ring. As they are announced, the two shake their head in obvious disagreement with their team name. Wasp enters the ring while Tide stays on the apron. Crazy Boy is in the ring for his team. Joseph Buckland then motions for the match to begin.
Wasp and Crazy boy lock up in the center of the ring, with Crazy Boy getting the early advantage, and plants him with a neckbreaker. It looks like a good start for team Crazy Muscles but as Crazy Boy leans down to get Wasp to his feet, he receives a thumb to the eye! He stumbles backwards and this gives Wasp time to get up and bounce himself off the ropes. As he does, Tide slaps him on the back, within full view of Joseph Buckland. Crazy Boy ducks Wasp's clothesline attempt, but doesn't realize Tide, the legal man is right behind him. He attempts to end the match early with The Pirate's Code (Schoolboy Pin), but the tenacious Crazy Boy kicks out at two.
Tide lifts CB to his feet, and sets him up for a DDT, but Crazy Boy fights out of it, and sends the pirate right on to his ass with a dropkick. He goes over to his corner and tags in El Musculo who hops on to the turnbuckle eagerly. “The Epitome of Aerial” launches himself towards the pirate who is beginning to stand, but in his eagerness to join the fray, he did not notice that Wasp had illegally entered the ring. Wasp catches Musculo mid air and sends him to the ground with a sickening powerbomb. The crowd boo's as referee Joseph Buckland starts almost pushing Wasp out of the ring.
He can't keep him out for long, as Tide makes a quick tag back to Wasp. With Musculo still down, he climbs a turnbuckle and lands a Deadly Venom (Flying Elbow Drop). He grabs one half of Crazy Muscles and pulls him up off the mat. Wasp then bounces off the rope, and goes for a Stinger, but Musculo regains his wits in time to counter it into a DDT! Both men are down and Joseph Buckland counts to six before Musculo rises, only a fraction sooner than Wasp. Musculo tries to leap and make a tag, but Wasp catches him by the foot, inadvertantly slamming him to the ground. Wasp drags his opponent over to the corner and tags Tide.
With both men still in the ring, Crazy boy decides to even the odds and comes wading in. He catches Wasp with a clothesline but Tide uses CB's own momentum to throw him over the ropes, where he lands with a crash. With Crazy Boy on the ground on the outside, the Sea Men turn their attention to a slowly rising Musculo. Tide climbs the turnbuckle and Musculo rises. Wasp delivers a superkick and Musculo stumbles right into a shooting star DDT. Wasp is already out of the ring, not wanting to induce any more of the ire of Joseph Buckland and Tide pins the recipient of The Great White Plank. 1....2......3!
Winners: The Sea Men (High Tide and Jule Martins) via Pinfall
Where’s Nacho?
Details: The camera moves from the ring and the victorious Sea Men to the backstage area. There in the parking area is Shane Dodge, complete with a microphone that must be surgically attached to his hand by now. There’s an anxious look on his face as it appears he is about to unload some bad news on the PCW Faithful.
Shane Dodge: I’m here in the car lot of the PCW Arena awaiting the arrival of PCW Superstar, Nacho Grande. There has been no sight of the former Tag Team Champion since his uncharacteristic actions two weeks ago.
A short video shows on the tron of Nacho’s actions two weeks previously. With Justin Kaard pushing him to breaking point, Nacho attacks him during his match against Kaijin Shinryu. Following his disqualification loss, Puro Power attempts to calm down his friend but instead provoked the wrath of Nacho on himself.
Shane Dodge: Nobody has seen or heard from Nacho for two weeks and it’s uncertain whether he’ll even be here tonight. If he does, I’ll be here to report it.
With that, the valiant PCW Reporter turns his attention back to the motionless car lot in wait for the Lucha-Libre superstar.
MATCH THREE
Showtime Classic Tag Team Match
”The Sick” Korey Kill & Andy D vs. Nick Soapdish & Donny J. McNasty (Nasty by Nature)
Referee: Nolan Burke
Details: Andy D is the first man to come out, but conspicuous by his absence is Koey Kill who seems to have chosen to enter on his own. As ‘Hypest Hype’ plays and Andy gets into the ring with a great reaction from the fans. The music fades out and is replaced by “My Name Hold Weight” and Korey Kill makes his way out to a mixed reaction. Climbing into the ring, he and his partner seem to reluctantly join each other in a corner. They are quickly followed by the team dubbed Nasty by Nature, Donny J McNasty and Nick Soapdish. They come out to a good reaction and are into the ring in no time, ready to avenge their first round loss.
The referee checks that all four men are ready and signals for the bell. Andy and Donny are the legal men and move into some preliminary grappling, though McNasty’s extra power forces Andy into the ropes. Whipping him across, McNasty waits for the rebound and throws a Clothesline. Andy ducks and carries his momentum into the ropes before ducking another Clothesline. With the arm outstretched, Andy jumps up and locks in a Crucifix, rolling backwards. Donny rolls through to his feet and hits a fast knee to the ribs. Following it with another two, McNasty pulls Andy up and hits a Scoop Slam before tagging in Soapdish.
Soapdish climbs into the ring and goes for an Elbow Drop but Andy rolls evasively. Trying tenaciously for another two, Soapdives drives down but misses both times. This time he tries to grabs hold of Andy but the resourceful lad kips up and nails an improvised Hurricanrana, allowing him to tag out to Korey Kill. Kill jumps into the ring and immediately sets upon Soapdish with a collection of well-placed strikes. Capitalising on the situation, Kill whips Nick into the ropes and slams him down with a ‘Sick’ Spinebuster, pinning for a two when McNasty breaks it up.
Taking his chance, McNasty pulls Soapdish to the corner and tags himself in only to walk into a barrage of rights from Korey. Donny fights back with a combo of his own before hitting a boot to the gut and a snap Russian Leg Sweep. A pin garners a one count and McNasty goes back on the offensive with a couple of stomps before pulling Kill to his feet. Attempting a Piledriver, McNasty is caught unawares as Kill backdrops his way out and attacks with two stiff clotheslines. Locking in a front headlock, Kill looks tentatively to his partner and reluctantly extends a hand for a tag. Andy equally cautiously accepts and climbs to the top, dropping down with an Axehandle to the ribcage.
Attempting to whip McNasty across the ring, Andy is reversed and receives a shuddering Scoop Style Powerslam that allows Donny that chance to tag out. This time Soapdish lands his combo of elbows across the chest and decided to go to the corner. Climbing to the middle, Soapdish goes for a second rope Flying Elbow that Andy dodges, jumping to his feet and hitting a brutal Enziguri. Diving across the ring he tags out to Kill.
Climbing inside, Kill is met with a desperate Soapdish who swings for the fences with a missed clothesline, sending him off balance enough for a Millenium Suplex to be hit. With Soapdish totally stunned, Andy senses the inevitable and rushes across the ring, springing off the ropes and hitting a Springboard Dropkick that sends McNasty crashing to the outside. Now that no interference is likely, Kill sets up Soapdish and hits the Three Powerbomb ‘Sickest Kill’ for the three count!
Winners: Korey Kill and Andy D via Pinfall
Kaard’s Car
Details: Following the match, the cameras once again move to the familiar surroundings of the PCW car lot with a screeching of tires. Still there, persevering with his search for the arriving Nacho Grande, is Shane Dodge but he is disappointed in his pursuit. As he is about to give up, a figure blasts past him with a large bag hauled over his shoulder. The figure is that of Justin Kaard who is fast making his way toward his car.
Shane Dodge: Justin! Justin… can I get a word?!
Dodge chases after the Adrenaline King as he rustles around for a set of keys. Unable to find them in time to ward off the tenacious reporter, Kaard turns and responds.
Justin Kaard: You want a word? I’ll give you a few; I’m-out-of-here!
Shane Dodge: But… don’t you want to see what Nacho Grande has to say for his actions?
Kaard’s shoulders slump as if the question is pure stupidity and it’s a pure indecency for him to have to answer.
Justin Kaard: Look, if Nacho had any guts he would have turned up already. I’m not wasting any more time waiting for him to show himself.
Before Dodge can utter another word, Kaard finds his keys and climbs into his car. Backing off so as not to be run over, Dodge watches as Kaard pulls out and disappears into the distance, leaving more doubt over the appearance of Nacho.
MATCH FOUR
Singles Match
Lantlas vs. "Mr. Showtime" Michael Wryght
Referee: Steve Shaw
Details: Wryght is the first one out to the ring for this contest, and he wastes very little time with theatrics. It’s obvious he’s out here to prove himself and to make a better impression than he did the following week. As “Gold on the Ceiling” by The Black Keys winds down, Lantlas takes the stage in his armor. “Dream is Collapsing” by Hans Zimmer plays as the Elven Warrior makes his way to the ring. The look the two men give each other seems to be one of reverence; it’s quite obvious these two men have a history. As Lantlas disrobes and steps into the ring, PCW Official Steve Shaw calls for the bell and the match kicks off. The two circle and quickly tie up, a test of strength proves to go in Lantlas’ favor – it doesn’t last long, as Wryght quickly is able to counter and apply a headlock of his own.
The taller Lantlas doesn’t allow this to stand, as he steps forward and heaves Wryght off of him. Wryght lands, and steps under a clothesline from Lantlas. As the Elven Warrior turns around he’s met with an almost leaping european uppercut that stumbles him. Wryght follows it up with a series of kicks to the inside of Lantlas’s right leg before taking him over with a dragon screw. He attempts and Achilles lock, but Lantlas kicks out of it. Getting to his feet, Lantlas is met with a running crossbody block and Steve Shaw gets a one count. Lantlas scrambles to his feet once more, and it’s obvious his shoulder is still bothering him as he shakes it out after taking a chop to the chest from Wryght. He fires back with his own before before taking Wryght over with a oriental style arm drag.
Wryght kips up, and rushes in and Lantlas goes for another; Wryght stops short. Using the misstep to his advantage, he hits a chop block to the back of Lantlas’ left knee and quickly goes for a standing heel lock – once again, he is kicked off by Lantlas. Wryght quickly goes to continue his momentum, but Lantlas springs to his feet and hits a beautiful standing yakuza kick to Wryght. Before Wryght can fall, Lantlas steps in and hits a quick side belly-to-belly suplex for the one count. Before Wryght can make it to his feet, Lantlas begins to chop him down with short soccer kicks to the chest and back of Showtime. As he gets to his feet, he’s met with roundhouse kick to his abdomen followed up with a snapmare and a chinlock.
Wryght quickly headbutts his way out of the move and springs forward, using his right arm to slap out Lantlas’ left knee and go for the cover, Shaw doesn’t even get a one count. As Lantlas steps into Wryght, he’s met with a hard kick to the abdomen. Stumbling away, Lantlas is soon pulled backwards as he’s dropped back first across Wryght’s knee. Rather than going for a pinfall, Wryght goes to work with a basic camel clutch, but the hold doesn’t last long. Lantlas uses his size advantage to stand up, reaching up and over his shoulder he snapmare’s Wryght to the ground and once again applies a headlock. Wryght tries to fight his way out of it, but Lantlas transitions into a front face lock. Wryght stretches and gets the ropes, and Lantlas instantly breaks.
Lantlas remains on offense for while, intermingling striking with various suplexes before ending a combination with a beautiful rolling elbow for a two count. Wryght stumbles to his feet, and meets rushing Lantlas with an evansion. The elven warrior goes for a kitchen sink but Wryght side steps the move. Rushing behind Lantlas, he throws his entire body into a chop block and takes out both of Lantlas’ legs. This time, he goes for step over toe hold and Lantlas struggles in pain. After a moment, Wryght reaches to the side and takes a hold of Lantlas’ damaged arm and begins to drop elbows down upon his shoulder as Steve Shaw continues to ask if Lantlas is going to tap; he replies with a stern ‘No’ each time. Soon, Lantlas begins to push himself off of the mat with his good arm.
With a quick heave, he rolls the move over and breaks the hold. Rushing to his feet he hits the ropes only to dive over an incoming Wryght. Rolling across the canvas, he stands and turns to meet the rebounding Wryght with a kick which levels him. Two count from Shaw, but Lantlas’ momentum is short-lived, this doesn’t seem to be the same Lantlas we’ve seen in the past. A rushing Lantlas is hit with a shuffle back kick, followed by a single arm DDT which gets a two count, and Wryght is back in control of the match. Dragging Lantlas to his feet, he hits another near leaping european uppercut before taking him over with a snapmare and driving a knee into Lantlas’ back. Hitting the ropes, he goes for a spinning european uppercut to the seated Lantlas but the Elven Warrior avoids it.
Rolling to his feet, he rushes in for what looks to be Flame of the West. Heaving Wryght on to his shoulders, he tosses him but Wryght breaks free. Landing on his feet, Wryght charges forward and catches Lantlas in the gut with a knee. Hooking his leg he hits a beautiful fisherman’s suplex, but instead of bridging, he rolls through with the move. He places Lantlas’ right shin behind his own left knee, steps back and drops a knee to apply The Spotlight on Lantlas! He fights for a few moments, but has no choice but to tap out.
Winner: Michael Wryght via Submission
The Last Days of Lantlas?
Details: “Gold on the Ceiling” hits as Michael Wryght climbs back to his feet, trying to get his breath back. The crowd applaud the fantastic contest and the victor who looks back at the battered Lantlas in the middle of the ring. As Lantlas struggles back to a seated position, the two men exchange a stare with neither man making a sudden movement.
A few seconds pass as Lantlas holds his injured arm and back in pain. Finally Mr. Showtime takes a step forward and offers a hand to the downed Elf, maybe out of respect but also simple support for the ailing Icon. He looks around at the PCW Faithful, an expression of sadness and almost weakness present for the first time in a PCW ring. Eventually he takes the hand of Wryght who helps Lantlas back to his feet with a cheer from the fans.
Even with the support of Wryght and the crowd, Lantlas’ expression remains the same. Leaving the Elven Warrior to his thoughts, the victorious Mr Showtime exits the ring and moves to the back. In the ring, Lantlas limps toward the ropes himself, unable to hold himself up for a long time without the help of the ropes.
Jerry Andrews remarks at ringside about the rumours surrounding his lack of form and physical condition, while inside Lantlas drops to the mat and rolls slowly to the floor. Walking tentively up the ramp, the crowd give a round of applause that seems almost like a send-off to the multi-time World Champion.
Walker’s Warning
Details: Moving from the ring to the backstage area, the camera appears to be following the PCW Reporter Kassandra Black. Moving through the corridors she finds her destination… the office of PCW President, Captain Alejandro Walker. Wasting no time she knocks on the door but is surprised when it almost immediately opens, with Walker standing sternly behind it.
Kassandra Black: Can I come in?
Captain Alejandro Walker: Ya can tell me what cha gotta tell me right here.
Still the Captain remains completely, uncharacteristically blank in his expression, waiting for Black to reveal her intentions. To the credit of Ms. Black, she remains equally cold and focused on delivering her news and quickly responds.
Kassandra Black: I just had a call from the representatives of The Icemann. He’s going to be here at Trauma 120… and he wants to speak with you.
The Captain takes a moment to digest the information, shifting uneasily on his feet before reaching for the door.
Captain Alejandro Walker: The Icemann is always welcome in mah office.
With a sour look on his face from the news, and a tone in his voice that betrays his words, The Captain slowly begins to close the door on the beautiful woman. She won’t let the moment pass by without getting the final word though.
Kassandra Black: Enjoy ‘your’ office while you still have it.
There is no indication of whether The Captain heard her, but she seems more than satisfied that her words have struck a chord. Thoroughly pleased, Black walks out of shot and the cameras move back to the ring for the next match.
MATCH FIVE
Singles Match
”Puro Power!” Kaijin Shinryu vs. Nacho Grande
Referee: Manny Cruz
Details: “Shitataru Mouru” by Dir En Grey hits and the popular Japanese superstar, Kaijin Shinryu walks onto the stage to a great ovation. The PCW Faithful are respectful as ever as Puro Power makes his customary prayer before making his way to the ring and preparing for his upcoming contest.
As he waits next to Manny Cruz, Puro stares up the ramp in quiet patience. He doesn’t have to wait long as ‘Hangin’ Tough’ hits and the crowd erupt at the arrival of one of their very favourite stars. The music continues to play as the PCW fans murmur amongst themselves, clearly unsure that he is even in the building as has been hinted all night. The music plays for so long that eventually it fades out and Mark Long is forced to try and re-introduce him.
Again New Kids On The Block plays out but there is no sign of the former Tag Team Champion. Puro looks at Referee Cruz who can only shrug his shoulders and look to ringside. As the music stops for a second time with no sign of the masked marvel, Cruz looks to ringside and motions for the bell. With the clear sound ringing out, he begins his mandatory ten count.
One… Two… Three… Four…
The fans are increasingly restless, displeased and disappointed in the way this match will turn out. If anything, though, Shinryu looks even more disappointed as he stares in a confused daze at the counting referee.
Five… Six… Seven…. Eight… Nine…
A boo begins to rumble around the arena as Cruz throws his hands up into the air and shouts the obvious….
TEN!
The bell rings again and Mark Long announces the victory by forfeit of Kaijin Shinryu. Puro merely remains in the ring, shaking his head and shrugging in confusion toward the frustrated sell out crowd.
Winner: Kaijin Shinryu via Forfeit
Mindset of MONROE
Details: Coming back from the break, the camera crew has hunted down MONROE who has been relatively absent in the week leading up to Trauma. His locker room is a sea of bodies, all of which seem to be talking him through tactics for the upcoming match.
Christian St. James:”Don’t brawl with him, it’s that simple…”
After hearing the stern words, we come to focus on MONROE. His body bounces, and yet his face is stoic. After a few moments of listening to the words of the men around him, he begins to smash his clinched right fist against his forehead. Each blow is a bit harder, and soon enough he shakes it off and reaches for the skull mask, which sits atop a nearby table.
Christian St. James:”Precise strikes, keep him at a distance. When he moves in, you show him what you’re capable of – but do NOT brawl with him…”
It is then the life creeps back into his face in the form of a soft smirk, pulling so lightly at the corners of his mouth. Pulling his hair back, he pulls the mask over his face and that is when the perpetual motion ceases. The atmosphere in the room changes, and more quarter is given to MONROE has begins to apply his entrance garb piece by piece.
Christian St. James:”Michael Wryght, Lantlas, Andy D, that’s an impressive list. You want to send a statement to the guys in back? Beat Grimm. I don’t think you can do it, the other guys in the back? They don’t think you can do it either, so what are you going to do about? Areas is probably ready to pick apart the bones, he’s not expecting you to walk away from this; nobody is…”
The words cut through the silence like a knife, soon enoug MONROE’s head begins to roll from side to side. He doesn’t speak, nor does he acknowledge the words that are being spoken to him. He simply seems to continue his routine. His wrists tremble before they begin to roll. His toes clinch tightly in his boots before he begins to bounce once more.
Christian St. James:”What does he have to lose? He’s a legend. He’s a monster. Two time World Champion, former International Champion. Former Tag Team Champion, what exactly does he need to prove tonight? Not a god damn thing, that’s what. Do you think he even thinks you’re on his level? “
The movement ceases once more, as MONROE’s head bows down and his gaze is affixed upon floor before his feet. The room remains silent, the sea of bodies sway softly to the sound of Christian’s voice as he speaks to them. Every pause, every change of pace, every word he lingers upon.
Christian St. James:”Whitey Ford took this guy at the PPV, is he better than you? Where are the rest of the members of the AWA now, because I sure as hell don’t see them watching your back? It’s time to send a statement. PCW, AWA, who gives a shit. You are here to stay. The Assholes are here to stay. They want violence; they want to put you in the same ring with Grimm? How about we don’t disappoint them, hmm?”
With those final words, the sea of bodies part and MONROE wastes little time exiting his locker room. Christian follows close behind, as the large entourage follows MONROE to his upcoming match.
MATCH SIX
Non-Title Singles Match
Grimm vs. MONROE (N.A. ©)
Referee: Eric Russo
Details: The familiar pacing of “Winter Shaker “ by Wovenhand takes hold of the Crowd, as Grimm is the first man out for this contest. He looks focused, determined, and ready for the match and he wastes little time in making his way to the ring. As he hopes on to the turnbuckle, his entrance is interrupted by the “One Winged Angel (remix)” by The Black Mages. MONROE comes out a faster pace than usual, and followed by a large entourage of men, all wearing shirts which read iSTRONGSTYLE. Midway down the ramp, MONROE bolts and reaches the ring. Tossing his entrance garb as he goes, the moment he hits the ring the striking begins before Eric Russo can even call for the bell. Both men seem to be throwing blows in a calculated manner, but after a moment Grimm’s uncanny style takes hold.
Pushing the pace of the fight into the corner, Grimm takes a break from the flurry and attempts a lariat which MONROE ducks under. Grimm turns, and sees a headkick coming from MONROE and ducks under. Watching MONROE’s moment carry him, he catches MONROE with a heavy-handed right haymaker that not only levels the superstar, but busts him wide open. MONROE slips to the outside, as the crowd roars, Grimm pays no attention. Russo starts a count, but MONROE is in before one and the match continues. As Grimm goes for the approach, he’s met with a series of hard outside leg kicks which ends in a roundhouse to his midsection and a fireman’s carry to the ground. MONROE wastes little time applying a headlock, but Grimm quickly powers out of it.
MONROE scrambles to his feet, and uses his quickness to catch Grimm before he can stand with a hard kick to the side of his head and another headlock. Grimm rolls out of the move and pushes MONROE off, but MONROE rushes forward and seems to be going for the ELE early, catching Grimm with a knee he tries to heave him into the air but Grimm has other plans. Using his deadweight mid-lift, Grimm gets out of the brain buster, and shoves MONROE to the ground. MONROE scrambles, and stumbles and that’s when Grimm acts. Rushing forward, seeing an opportunity, he rushes at MONROE and seems to jump at him to catch him in The Harvest – but MONROE is ready. Rushing into the move, he over rotates and breaks from Grimm’s grip and hits the ropes.
On the return, he goes for a running double knee strike to the head of Grimm but he’s caught. Grimm launches himself into the air, he catches MONROE and hits a sickening spinebuster for a two count. He doesn’t give MONROE and space, keeping on him with his flurrie, each blow seems to a purpose as he corners MONROE and begins to rain down the blows. Russo steps into break it up, and MONROE rushes forward and hits a double-leg takedown on Grimm. He looks as though he’s going to mount Grimm for punches, but instead he rolls across the man’s chest and locks in another headlock. Grimm tries to shake it off, but it doesn’t work this time. MONROE drags Grimm to his feet and performs a tiger spin into a hammerlock, which quickly turns into angled backdrop throwing Grimm on his right shoulder.
MONROE goes for a basic armbar attempt, and succeeds. He transitions from submission hold to hold, and it seems as though MONROE has the advantage when it comes to technicality. The two men are relatively the same size, and thus MONROE keeps ground control rather effortlessly. It isn’t until Grimm pulls his legs up and begins driving knees into MONROE’s face that the hold is broken, and the two men stumble to their feet. It’s at this point that Russo is pulled aside by a time keeper and told that the match is running a bit long. Stepping away, he gets back to the action as the men are once again engaged in a striking battle. MONROE keeps his distance with leg kicks, and when Grimm comes in close he goes for knees – but Grimm weaves in and out of the knee strikes.
Using the counters as a moment to strike, Grimm lays in hard clubbing blows to MONROE’s chest before moving in for the kill. A drop toe hold turns into a heavy kick to the side of MONROE’s face and a two count. MONROE pops up and hits a head kick that echoes, and gets a two kick of his own. As the two men begin to brawl again, Russo is approached once again and has no choice but to call for the bell, and both men to continue to the throw strikes, it takes several staff members to pull them apart. The crowd is informed that due to time constraints on the evenings show, a draw has be called in the contest.
Winner: Draw via Time Limit
Tag Team Turmoil
Details: Pegasus paces back and forth, his hands on his hips. His tag team partner, Murdoc, leans against a wall not too far away. His head just slowly follows Pegasus back and forth... back and forth. Pegasus finally turns on his heels and beelines right for Murdoc.
Pegasus: You... you... just... what the H-E-double hockey sticks were you doing out there Murdoc?
He backs away and resumes his pacing.
Murdoc: I was only...
Pegasus makes an abrupt turn and steps right back up to Murdoc as he attempts to speak.
Pegasus: You what? Were only trying to get me injured? Make me look like a fool?
Pegasus steps away from Murdoc and turns his back to him. Murdoc steps forward and places a hand on Pegasus' shoulder.
Murdoc: You misundersta...
Pegasus shrugs the hand off and turns to face Murdoc again.
Pegasus: No no no no. You misunderstand ME, Murdoc. I went out to the ring to wrestle. WRESTLE! Not sit back and make a grocery list or whatever it was you were doing. It was a tag match! As in I need a partner I can TAG in so I don't get destroyed by the other two men across the ring. I need someone I can trust in my corner, someone who is actually going to be there to contribute, ya know?
Murdoc: You can trust...
Again Pegasus cuts him off, this time by putting his hand up in a "stop" sign right in front of Murdoc's face.
Pegasus: No Murdoc. I can trust myself. I can trust the fans. After the stunt you pulled last week, I'm more inclined to trust Usali and Machine than I am to trust you.
Pegasus shakes his head as he backs away from Murdoc, then walks to the door. Halfway into the hallway he stops, his head hanging.
Pegasus: Just... ugh... I'll see you in the ring.
The door shuts behind him as Marcus stares on.
Marcus: I'm only trying to help...
MATCH SEVEN
Showtime Classic Tag Team Match
Usali Basilisk & Machine (The Ascension) vs. Murdoc w/Eira & Pegasus (Heaven & Hell)
Referee: Roberto Garcia
Details: The Ascension—comprising of Usali Basilisk and that GINORMOUS giant from Germany, Machine—walk down to the ring together to a mixed reaction from the fans.
Pegasus is the next to walk down to the ring on his own as he continually looks behind him to see if his partner, Murdoc, is following him. Shaking his head, he slides into the ring.
Finally, Murdoc graces the fans with his presence, being accompanied by the newest member of Pure Class Wrestling—a broad-shouldered, curvy-hipped, white-haired female that could be related to Lantlas—Eira. They step off the ramp, and Murdoc bends to say something in Eira’s ear. She nods and makes her way over to the commentary table. She has a pen and paper with her and sits quietly at the table, ready to take notes. Both Andrews and Laiman welcome her to the company, but she simply ignores them. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Roberto Garcia calls for the bell. Basilisk starts the match. Pegasus, again, starts for his team, since Murdoc still isn’t cooperative.
Basilisk gets an early advantage, using his size to neutralize any kind of aerial attack Pegasus had planned. He drives a knee into Pegasus’s gut, doubling the man over, and sets him up for a Brain Buster. He delivers it, sheer-drop style, and goes for the cover. Pegasus kicks out after two.
Pegasus slowly recovers and now rears back with an attack, throwing forearms, punches, kicks, everything but the kitchen sink, at Basilisk. He bounces off the ropes, goes for a Dropkick and connects. He doesn’t get a pin-fall however as Basilisk smartly rolls out of the ring.
A few moments later Basilisk takes the match over once again, throwing a heavy Clothesline at Pegasus that almost turned the man inside out. He lifts Pegasus to his feet, throws a head butt, another head butt and another head butt. Pegasus is dizzy on his feet. Basilisk is about to throw another head butt, but Pegasus is playing possum, jumps up and throws an Enzuigiri in the back of Basilisk’s head!
We’re toward the end of the match. Machine is in the match and Pegasus get a hot tag into Murdoc. He looks at the arm Pegasus touched, down at his partner, and then at the enormous German. You can see that he lets out a sigh and enters the ring. Machine swings wildly, which Murdoc easily evades, and throws a heavy right hand in Machine’s face. He doesn’t seem to faze the German, and goes for another blow. Another evasion, another heavy punch. This rocks Machine backward. He throws another heavy blow, throwing his entire weight into it, and takes the giant German!
Murdoc tags in Pegasus, which catches his partner off guard. Murdoc beckons Pegasus into the ring, and Pegasus obliges. Murdoc literally hurls Pegasus at the German, and Pegasus, trying to adjust himself in air, collides heavily against Machine, which sends the giant out of the ring. The back of his head slams hard on the floor. Referee Garcia starts the count, while Basilisk tries to revive Machine and get him back to his feet. It doesn’t matter now as Garcia counts ten, giving Murdoc and Pegasus the victory.
Winners: Pegasus and Murdoc via Countout
Bombs Away
Details: With a victorious Pegasus and Murdoc making their way back up the ramp, a reaction begins to stir in the crowd. A figure comes walking to the security barrier and leaps over to the surprise of the security, although it’s too late to stop the man before he climbs into the ring.
Darren "The Bomber" Hughes stands clutching a microphone. His face shows no reaction to the shower of boos and handfuls of cheers around the building. His arms are held at the sides of his New York Islanders jersey clad body, while his eyes dart through his Top Gun-esque sunglasses. He grins sheepishly and points to his jersey while playing briefly to the crowd, who boo him even more. That only gets a chuckle from The Bomber, who waits to bring the microphone to his mouth.
Hughes: I know it's the South and all, but seriously? Oh, shoot, look! Hello Pegasus, Murdoc and… Eira!
Darren points to the up the ramp, and the majority of the crowd finally begins to cheer. A significant minority still boo Hughes regardless, but he is able to ignore it. He waves to them a little bit before returning to address the crowd again.
Hughes: Now, some of you might notice, I'm not actually going to be competing tonight, but I'm still in my gear.
Indeed, Hughes gestures at himself to show that his tights, kneepads, and boots are on. The microphone in his free hand is never removed from its position near his mouth.
Hughes: That's because I know that anywhere in this building, I'm a possible target. In this business, you never know when somebody might try to pop one out at you...you have to stay on your toes. And given the stuff I'm going to say, I'm ready for anything. Number one...
The crowd seems uninterested in Darren, until a fan is audibly heard yelling "THE ISLANDERS SUCK AND SO DO YOU!"
Hughes: Well, we know who your wife left you for. Moving along...
A large chorus of "OHHH!"s and a roar of laughter fill the arena, and Darren even stops to smile. He quickly recomposes himself, remembering to continue his previous point.
Hughes: Now, before I was so rudely interrupted over there...number one. First and foremost, that young woman up there thinks that I'm going to be an easy kill, that I'm going to be her stepping stone here. And I can't say I blame her for thinking that.
Darren removes his sunglasses, looking up the entrance ramp at the new woman with a pair of hard and cold eyes.
Hughes: But you ain't good enough to take me down. Not now. You want a match with me? You got it. One twenty. If you want a shot at me now, when I want this more than ever, fine. I'll break you into the business, gal. But you're dealing with a pretty pissed off guy. I'm not feeling like playing this one safe. I'm not feeling like playing anybody safe anymore...
A few boos fail to startle Darren, although he does turn his head to the side as he addresses the disapproving fans.
Hughes: Sorry, I'm sorry...but being the party guy who just tries to have fun, I can't do that anymore. I have to be me, and I'm more than just a guy who likes to have a good time. I'm a guy who has this deep thirst for blood. Something that goes above and beyond winning a match. I just like the fight. I love the fight...and I can't ever expect to get what I want if I'm more concerned with trying to make everyone else happy...in other words, Darren Hughes is going to start coming down that aisle, getting in this ring, and fighting every single person they wanna throw at him!
This is met with a mixed reaction as well, although both camps are much more vocal. Turning back to the ropes the refocuses on his female counterpart and continues his diatribe.
Hughes: I do have morals, but they're not above me kicking someone's ass for whatever reason I might find! Eira, you want a fight, so guess what? I'M GONNA BE KICKING A WOMAN'S ASS IN TWO WEEKS! Does that offend you? Complain to my boss. I'm just doing my job. You'll love it, you'll tune in to watch it, and when I stretch that poor little girl into a piece of Bubble Tape...you'll be begging for more! So I'm not turning my backs on you people, I still love you guys. But I'm gonna do what's right by me, and that means being a lot more gritty, a lot more ballsy...and a lot more honest. Which brings me to number two...
Darren stops and pauses, before bringing the crowd into a massive eruption of boos with two words.
Hughes: WHITEY. FORD.
Another pause to let the crowd die down is followed by Darren scratching his head to a second of silence, then speaking. Realising she is no longer the focus of Darren’s attention, Eira shakes her head through disappointment or simple displeasure and moves to the back with Pegasus and Murdoc.
Hughes: I apologize for refusing to shake your hand after my match. I should have taken that sign of respect. I'm sorry. If you have a problem with me about it, we can settle it like men. But if you were, as I've heard floating around, expecting to recruit me into your group...and this is the part I meant when I said I needed to be ready for anything...
Darren takes in a deep breath, and as soon as he begins speaking releases most of it in just one of many intensely vocalized words.
Hughes: I don't need the AWAssholes to make it here. I might not have helped my case here lately, and even when I do break my losing streak, I don't know how far I will make it. But the one thing I do know is that I don't have to do things your way. I don't have to side with you. You can come down here and kick my ass two on one, three on one, two on one while you just watch like a little bitch who doesn't wanna get his hands dirty, I don't care. But what if I kicked your asses, and I ended your little clique right here, right now? What if I took my bare hands, knocked every single one of you out...and I just walked away with no shoes because I left them in your AWAsses? How's that sound?
The crowd begins to roar in approval, but Darren is quick to hush them.
Hughes: Chill out, relax...don't get too excited. I doubt we'll be seeing them come out here, because I'm not even concerned with them. I'm telling them that I want nothing to do with their little group. If it was a respect thing, then I got it coming and I'm ready to take mine for my part in disrespecting you. If it's more than that, then the ball's in your court because I ain't sorry for what I said tonight...to Eira, I'ma get you girl...to Whitey Ford, sing me some blues, Darren Hughes is ready to do what he does best, and y'all can't do a damn thing but...
Darren points high into the sky, bringing his finger down with each word.
Hughes: DUCK...AND...COVER!
Darren lets the microphone go, looking up a bit to survey the crowd, again showing a very loud mixed reaction.
MAIN EVENT
Non-Title Singles Match
Sean Rhodes (World ©) vs. "The A**hole" Whitey Ford (INT ©)
Referee: Tyrone Little
Details: Whitey Ford is the first man out, and the crowd has no problem with telling him exactly how they feel. The jeers rain down upon the superstar, and it’s in that moment that he takes a moment to lift up the International Championship and remind them that he is the champion. “Critical Acclaim” by Avenged Sevenfold plays until he reaches the ring, and that’s when the lights dim and “Hells Bells” by AC/DC begins to play. After a few moments, and a few guitar riffs Non Compos Mentis hits the stage with the PCW World Heavyweight Championship resting on his shoulder. The crowd is going wild and Whitey Ford seems to be mocking him in the ring while handing his own title belt to the time keeper. He nods at the fans before approaching the ring.
Whitey leaves the ring, seemingly out of respect, but that’s when his true colors are shown. Slipping into the ring, he waits for Rhodes to drop down from the turnbuckle, and that’s when he attacks as the bell as rung to keep up with them. Hammering at Rhodes’ back, he tries to toss Rhodes from the ring but Rhodes reverses. Slipping out of Whitey’s grasp, he grabs The Asshole by the nape of his neck and tosses him out of the ring much to the pleasure of the fans. Standing tall, he looks over the ropes at the stumbling Whitey and takes a chance. Running off the opposite ropes, he bolts across the ring and dives between the top in the middle rope. Catching Whitey with a brutal looking suicide dive, he stumbles to his feet and rests on the ring barrier for a moment.
In this moment of rest, his eyes spot something, or someone, moving at the top of the stage. The figure is a familiar one and one the crowd has already seen this evening… Kaijin Shinryu. The Japanese competitor remains stood on the stage as if scouting an upcoming opponent. After this minor distraction, Rhodes turns his attention back to the task at hand.
Leading Ford to his feet, he hits a stiff kick to his gut before bashing his head on the apron. Whitey stumbles away as Little gets to two, as Rhodes approaches Whitey strikes back. Stepping into the World Champion, Whitey hits huge european uppercut that stumbles Ford. Stepping up to the apron, he waits for Rhodes to turn around and that’s when he plants a hard dropkick off Rhode’s skull. Stumbling to his feet, he leads Ford to his feet by his hair and tosses him into the ring and covers him for a one count. He tries to gain control but the wiles of the World Champion prove triumphant. After a series of gut kicks and punches from Whitey, Rhodes steps under a blow and drops Ford with a reverse DDT and a one count. He takes control of the match, and keeps Whitey on his toes.
Rhodes uses his weight advantage to bully Whitey around the ring, and after a series of blows he levels Ford with a Russian Leg sweep for another one count. Whitey stumbles to the ropes, as the ref approaches and forces Rhodes to give Whitey some distance. As he does, Rhodes’ glare is turned to the stage once again and the intensely concentrating figure of Pro Power. This distraction, however, allows Whitey to charge forward and hit a charging spear to Rhode’s right side, versus his stomach. He goes for the cover and gets a two count. The crowd cheers loudly and Ford throws vulgarities not only their way, but towards PCW official Tyrone Little as well. He’s warned about pulling Rhodes’ hair but he does so anyways to drag the champion to his feet. A snap arm drag puts Rhodes on the ground, and a rebound off the ropes sees Whitey Ford hitting a dropkick across Rhodes’ forehead and a two count from the referee.
As Rhodes stumbles to his feet Whitey rushes towards the ropes and jumps off the middle for a springboard plancha but Sean has him scouted. Rushing forward, Rhodes throws his right leg up and catches Ford with a nasty yakuza kick. Whitey doesn’t fall, stumbling around dazed as Rhodes then hits the ropes and levels him with a lariat for a two count. He takes control of the match up, and once again busts out a Russian leg sweep, but this time against the ropes. He gets a two count for his efforts, and the crowd continues to cheer in his favor. Mounting Ford, Rhodes begins to rain down blow after blow as the crowd goes into a frenzy. As Little steps into to administer the count, Rhodes breaks it and strides away from Ford with the eyes of a crazed mad man, and the crowd loves it.
As Whitey stumbles to his feet, he’s met with a stiff gut kick followed by a running knee to his head. Once again, Rhode gets another two count but this time Rhodes slips out of the ring to recuperate. As Rhodes attempts to follow him to the outside, a chase ensues. Running around the ring, Whitey jumps of the stairs and slides beneath the bottom rope. As Rhodes climbs on to the apron, he’s greeted by a high kick to the head and his body comes crashing between the ropes and on to the canvas. Whitey covers him but only gets a two count for his efforts. He doesn’t seem too pleased with the official, and spits in the man’s general direction. Late in the match, Whitey finds his momentum and begins to truly take the fight to the World Champion.
Still dragging Rhodes by his hair, he receives another harsh warning and is told it will be his last one. Stepping into Rhodes, he heaves him up and over for a bridging northern light suplex and a two account. As Rhodes stumbles to his feet, he’s met with a chop block to the back of his right leg. Falling to a knee, Rhodes is met with a charging ford. Stepping off of Rhodes, Ford brings his right leg up and over Non Compos Mentis’ head, and drops his heel on the back of his head. Rolling him over, he gets a near three count but Rhodes powers out! The crowd cheers wildly, and Whitey snaps. Leaning down, he begins to rain blow after blow on Rhodes, but this seems to ignite a fire within the champion. Bursting out from beneath Whitey Ford, Rhodes pounces him and begins to rain down blows of his own.
Dragging Rhodes to his feet, he levels him with a short-arm clothesline. Rhodes stands up to drop an elbow, and he repeats this several times as the crowd counts to ten with him and goes for the pin, only getting a two. Instead of letting Ford up, he flips him over and applies a camel clutch. Whitey struggles and fights to the crawl to the ropes, and after a few moments he gets there. As Little approaches to break the hold, Rhodes legs go. But as he steps back, Ford throws his leg back and catches Rhodes in the groin, but Little doesn’t see it. Whitey Ford stumbles to his feet with a crazed smile on his face as he watches Rhodes stumble away and quickly rolls him up as he’s going down! As Little hits the mat and goes for the count, it’s interrupted at two by Korey Kill!
Rushing into the ring, Kill rushes up and catches Whitey Ford with a kick across the head and Tyrone Little has no choice but to call for the bell.
Winner: Whitey Ford via Disqualification
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Details: Following the bell, Kill looks down on a stunned and confused Whitey Ford, mocking him for the same sequence of events that cost him a match two weeks earlier. Once Ford’s vision clears, and his mental faculties recover, he realises what happened and leaps to his feet. With no hesitation Ford lashes out with a series of rights that are responded to in-kind by Kill.
Both men begin to brawl wildly as Big Dave Brandt and the PCAS dive down the ramp to break up the fight. As they do, the World Champion rolls to the outside and looks up the ramp to his rival who is still present on the stage. Shinryu stares down at Rhodes and shakes his head slowly at the loss, clearly a disappointing moment for a World Champion to suffer.
Both men stare back until finally Puro Power brings both hands up to his waist and motions that he’s after the biggest prize in the business. All Rhodes can do is stand and catch his breath, unsure how to react to this clear challenge. The show fades to black with all hell still breaking loose inside the ring and Sean Rhodes looking increasingly worried for his future as the figurehead of the company.
