Greenville, SC; October 7th, 2014:
Return to Glory V opened with an absolutely brutal grudge match between Cory Steel and Alexa Black, carnage the likes of which haven't been seen since Justin Kaard & Nacho Grande's Pain of Glass match at Collision Course 3! Cory THE BEAR Steel won the match over a seething Alexa Black, no doubt swearing vengeance upon his house. The match might be over, but these two are far from done.
Next up was a Triple Threat match with Underground rules, a fight for supremacy between @tkmoney, @soloman, and Tyrone "Crazy Boy" Smith. All three men put up a solid showing in the first half of the match, but towards the later end T.K. Money left the arena! He has been placed on unpaid leave while PCW representatives hold discussions with his agent and lawyer; PCW now in talks to restructure his current contractual obligations and compensation. The Triple Threat match ended in a draw, neither man (nor the paying fans in attendance) happy with the outcome!
In a four way free-for-all to decide the Underground championship, the first (and so far only) Underground Champion (in this case, the Underground Queen) Gem was slated to defend her title against @sapphire, green talent @metalhead, and disturbing newcomer Joka. After an action-packed match, Gem rose triumphant above them all to remain PCW's reigning Underground Champion. Post-match, Sapphire was BRUTALLY attacked by a hooded stranger that turned out to be none other than Pure Class Wrestling's Rick Majors! After a few days hospitalization, Sapphire put in her notice to Pure Class Wrestling to request a release from contract, citing the "grievous bodily harm" clause; rumor has it that PCW brass was only too happy to comply. In related news, performance reviews held during and just after the PPV also called into question Metalhead's ability to compete at the appropriate level; Trauma 161 will make or break the man's fledgling career in PCW. No word yet on how PCW plans to handle Rick Majors' actions at RtG V.
Next up, and one of the most anticipated matches of the night, was the six man tag team match between the Black Hand (Grimm, Sadistic, & Mr. Showtime) vs Psychedelica (Nathan Saniti & Dollface) w/ Eira, with Derek Cosmos as the special referee! The match was just as rough as advertised with the oddly paired trio going up against the malevolent cohesion of the Black Hand. N. Saniti and Dollface worked as a team with Eira able to adapt to her teammates - once she got a chance to tag! The Black Hand did their best to lay the hurt into their opponents, an impressive match ending with Billy Sadistic pinning Eira.
But they weren't done. The Black Hand launched into a post-match attack on Eira, with Murdoc nowhere to be found. Nathan and Kelli did their best to help, and a surprise white knight in the form of one previously MIA Andy D entered the fray to help keep the heat off Eira. Andy D. arrived just before the Snap Crackle Pop finisher was laid into Eira's leg, mere seconds too late to save the day. With Psychedelica and Andy D. standing guard as the med techs removed her from the ring for treatment, the Black Hand was kept at bay. For now.
Following the post-match attack by the Black Hand, Eira is on company sanctioned leave of absence until further notice. Once cleared from the ring, Eira was transported via ambulance to an undisclosed, private medical facility for treatment. She is said to be in stable condition though the full extent of her injuries are not yet known; we expect more information to be released at Trauma 161. It remains to be seen whether or not the Black Hand will face any sort of disciplinary action for their savage assault. Furtive rumors were heard wondering at Murdoc's absence from Eira's side during the attack, while others suggest the beatdown and subsequent injury is her just desserts for past actions while working as a member of the Untouchables. The most notable of which being her and Murdoc's career-ending assault on The New Breed Foundation's Johnathan "Beast" Cable at Trauma 142. Only time will tell whether she'll return to her place in Pure Class Wrestling, or take heed of the Black Hand's unspoken, none-too-subtle warnings.
Next match up was the Triple Threat match turned Fatal Four Way, Murdoc defending his North American Championship against longtime rival Loki, Justin Stormm Michaels, and the last minute addition of Andy D. Stormm brought his characteristic no-nonsense attitude (and fists) to the ring, while Loki held on to the ferocious tenacity he became known for in PCW's infancy. Andy D. laid down his A-Game on the match, showing the kind of fire and drive we haven't seen from him in ages, while Murdoc gave a typically hard-hitting performance that still seemed somehow distracted. A hard fought battle turned into a full on war, all four men vying to grab (or keep) that North American Championship gold. In the end it was Stormm who made the pinfall on Murdoc to become Pure Class Wrestling's new North American Champion!
The final match of the night... the Main Event. Whitey Ford's ongoing feud with Eira fuel enough for the masked Murdoc, but with the promise of World Championship gold (and having just lost his North American title), the erstwhile Prophet was ready for a fight. Both men showcased their strengths beautifully, from Whitey Ford's adaptability and technical prowess to Murdoc's raw power and years of experience in the ring. After being dropped with the meanest low blow PCW has ever seen, it looked like Murdoc was going to take the win via disqualification, the announcers were aghast and the fans were furious...
...Pure Class Wrestling's new President, a Mr. Frank Foley, interjected himself into the happenings. He declared the match would continue, but as a no-holds barred, no disqualification match. Whitey Ford issued a characteristic explosive outburst at the intervention, and it looks like he's only just begun butting heads with PCW's brand new Commander in Chief. The match continued, Murdoc getting to his feet and the fight resuming. A distraction in the form of Murdoc's mask being torn askew opened the metal monster up to a series of vicious chair attacks that chop the big man down, an enraged Ford capitalizing as only he can to secure the pin and retain his World Championship title!
Despite recent roster losses (Sapphire & Eira), Pure Class Wrestling enjoys a few new additions. @damian makes his debut at Trauma 161, while Stacy Jones makes what will no doubt be an emphatic return. In related news, Pure Class Wrestling would also like to welcome newly signed talent @aura, whose debut is scheduled for Trauma 162 against an as-yet unknown opponent.
Return to Glory V was an amazing Pay-Per-View, showcasing Pure Class Wrestling's amazing roster. The ingenuity of our talents and superstars, the kind of work they bring to the table every single show, THIS is what makes Pure Class Wrestling the very best in the business. With this kind of momentum backing us, there's no limit to how far we can take this big, badass machine.
With Trauma 161 nearly upon us, the review of Return to Glory V is long overdue. This Pay-per-View saw a new champion crowned, while three champions held onto their gold. Long standing feuds added fuel to the fire, new allegiances formed and new enemies made.
