The Seeds of Life - Chapter Five
(Recap: Through all of the trials and tribulations in the PCW world itself, Nathan Saniti and Kelli Starr had created the world known as Balance, a universe created through their passionate love for each other. N. Saniti, Nathan's alter ego, had been separated, given his own life to lead as guardian of Balance, as well as trainer for Kelli Starr as she discovers her own unique abilities.
Meanwhile, Nathan was tasked with finding the Seeds of Life, the only things that could counteract the Seeds of Death, the devious items being gathered by Lord Chaos in a bid to remove himself from the throne of Nightmare King and back into the title of the final of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Death. Nathan had just received one of the Seeds of Life from the latest member of the disabled list: Non Compos Mentis.)
Nathan stared at the tennis ball sized, pastel hued Seed of Life just before placing it in his pocket as the ambulance drove off with the Hobo King inside. He felt a wash of patience overcome him, but it still didn't mask the feelings in his heart of the looming danger.
That was merely a couple of months ago. Now, he stood here, in Balance, his arm in a sling and nursing several other injuries generously given to him rapid fire by the likes of Seromine, Lunacy, and especially, Alexa Black. The hope and patience he felt back when that memory was formed had long since evaporated. Fate had appeared to him just moment prior to Nathan gimping into Balance to inform him that Lord Chaos may very well soon have the final Seed of Death, the seed of Wrath, in his possession. Once that happened, Lord Chaos could become the final Horseman, and humanity, nay even the Universe itself, could be in peril.
Currently, Nathan was in no condition to put a stop to it. He couldn't stop Alexa Black or her Darkness. He couldn't stop Seromine and his Cultists. With the addition of someone he's all too familiar with in the highly dangerous Lunacy and his Anarchy, Nathan was feeling rather overwhelmed. Kelli was constantly under physical attacks, even beyond the confines of the squared circle, and Nathan was helplessly absent at her side.
He felt a deep shame for his role in the pain in her life, bad enough that he didn't know if he could even face her. He knew she was here, in Balance, training under the wings of his alter ego. He inhaled sharply, both to steel himself to face his love, and because his injuries only reminded him that he was still quite mortal in some ways. Nathan had a plan, but first he needed to speak with his healthier half. He could no sooner pull this off in his condition that he could effectively play tiddlywinks with his butt cheeks.
N. Saniti would have to enter the Deadly Rumble in his stead. He would have to make his presence known at Deadly Intentions. Nathan knew his darker half could do all of these things, possibly even more effectively than he. After all, he didn't have the moral compass to guide his actions against the violence necessary to drive the point home to that barbaric Amazon Alexa. He didn't have the restraint to prevent him from lowering himself to the levels of Lunacy and his ilk. He didn't have the knee jerk reaction of mercy towards his enemies such as Seromine.
He may not even have the emotional distraction of the attachment to his beloved Kelli Starr, though this one was still under question of late. After all, the two HAD been spending much more time together whilst Nathan's own absence only furthered her pain and aggravation.
Nathan peaked the hill that overlooked the bipolar world as it carried on in its duality, split perfectly in two by influences both light and dark. He loved this world more for how it came to be than the sheer fact of its existence. Overhead, a tremendous bird circled in direct light of the sun to obscure anything beyond mere outline.
Nathan discovered new species of both influences each and every time he visited Balance, so to see what he assumed was a raptor with a wingspan rivaling that of a small aircraft was no real shock, albeit off-putting. The bird shifted its flight pattern suddenly, diving directly at the Mystical Madman, playfully making off with his hat.
"Hi honey!" exclaimed the bird in a very familiar voice. Only when his eyes cleared enough, could he see the cotton candy pink mane of hair fluttering in the breeze.
"Kelli?" he inquired to himself. Staggering over the crest of the hill as fast as his battered body could carry him, his eyes befell upon his beloved as she lit atop N. Saniti's roof, then fluttered effortlessly to the ground, donning his chapeau with a sly grin. The look upon his face must have been priceless. To have Kelli break down in a fit of belly laughs, a sound that inwardly brought his fears at ease, was no real surprise. The fact that his darker half, a being not known for his sense of humor, to join in on the frivolity was alarming at best. "She has wings," he thought as he approached the giggling duo.
"Now, it appears, I can truly call you my angel." Nathan limped to her side and gave he a deep, passionate kiss.
On the horizon somewhere, another pair of creatures were created.
Nathan pondered his love speechlessly, holding her at arm's length, taking all of her in. Finally, his smile faded. In turn, N. Saniti's tone became more severe while Kelli's impish behavior halted. "I'm afraid I haven't much time to fill you both in. May we go inside, where we can sit and discuss the future?"
Kelli's wings disappeared behind her, and out of existence it seemed. She looked forlorn, concerned at Nathan's demeanor. Reluctantly, she followed N. Saniti inside as Nathan held the door for her. "Things have truly gotten out of hand, and it's time to put an end to some of these foolhardy miscreants once and for all," touted Nathan as he shut the door behind him.
