I've noticed that the last few Iceys, people have seemed reluctant to vote for the Gag Awards, in spite of the fact that they are meant as a way to poke fun at each other. So the question on my mind is: Have they run their course? Should we nix them completely?
My own opinion, and I don't want to sway voting, so please come to your own conclusion, while I see most of them as light-hearted from a handler's perspective, I think they can also become a point of contention and drama. From a "back stage" point of view, all I see them as, is another set of results we have to gather and tally. It's not difficult, but it is time consuming. I say this, not because I want to "get out" of tending to the results, but more of the fact that I don't want to waste my time, or that of the future DWO and staff, if it's just that unpopular. They are meant to be fun, and if people like them, I have no qualms about doing it.

I think back when we had more members it was fun and kind of a release to poke fun at the other handlers but at this point, they've kind of run their course.

I think the Gag Awards only work if the fed has a solid core of handlers for months (if not years) at a time. We’ve seen some serious roster fluctuations over the last few months, and that makes voting for those types of categories difficult. They may need to go on hiatus for a cycle or two.

Place on hiatus until more active handlers, I say.
