Gabriel stands in the rain. It’s night. It’s not possible to tell where he is. Realistically, it doesn’t matter. Would standing on top of a hill in the pouring rain in one location really be any better than doing the same somewhere else?
Gabriel is drenched, but it doesn’t seem to bother him. He is focused. Lightning flashes through the sky, momentarily illuminating the scene. Of course, Gabriel is alone. But that doesn’t stop him from preaching.
“Brothers and sisters… we are here today to witness firsthand the immense power of the Lord! Look at this display! Look at the intensity! The ferociousness! The capacity for destruction! Look upon the strength of our Lord! Be in awe of his power!”
Gabriel raises his arms up to the sky for a moment before looking back down at the “congregation.”
“You may be wondering, my brothers and sisters, why is this happening? Why does the Lord work in this manner? Why is he bringing such destruction to our earth? After all, you know that He is kind and loving. You have seen his generosity and compassion firsthand. You understand that he is a patient and wonderful Lord. So why does he bring his wrath upon the world like this?”
Gabriel pauses for a moment.
“It is because of us.”
Gabriel takes a deep breath.
“It is because we have sinned. We have dishonoured him. We have failed our Lord. Now, I know what you are thinking. You are saying to yourself ‘I have not sinned. I love the Lord. I follow his teachings. I love and respect others. I treat them the way the Lord tells me to treat them.’ And that may be true. You may live a life of respect. You may not fill your veins with drugs, you may not fall asleep drunk and wake up hung over, you may not treat your body like an amusement park. You may believe and pray and do your best to be kind to others. All of that may be true.”
Gabriel looks down.
“But it’s not enough.”
Gabriel begins to walk in circles.
“The Lord teaches us to love and to care for our bodies as if they were his temple. The Lord believes in compassion and caring and second chances. This is all true. But the Lord also knows that some are not worthy of compassion. Some are out of second chances. There are some who cannot be saved. These deviants cannot be allowed to walk the earth with us. They should not – and will not – be allowed to take advantage of the Lord’s blessings. The world is a beautiful and wonderful place, and the Lord wants us to enjoy it. But not them. They are sinners through and through. They are abnormal. They spit in the face of the Lord. They must be stopped. And yet, most of us allow them to peacefully share this earth with us. That is where we are wrong. We have not fully understood the Lord’s message. Love and kindness are reserved only for those who appreciate and respect the Lord. Those who do not must be eliminated.”
Gabriel bows his head briefly before looking up again.
“This is where we have failed, my brothers and sisters. This is where we have failed. We have not taken the time to fully appreciate the word of the Lord. We are weak. We are lazy. We are afraid. It is easy for us to meet together, bow our heads in prayer, shake hands with our fellow believers, and then head home, feeling content that we have done the right thing. But it is also wrong to do that. Very wrong. Every moment that we allow sin to grow and fester on this earth, we are dishonouring the Lord. By letting these miscreants carry on, not only are we giving them the chance to insult the Lord, but we ourselves are also insulting the Lord. We are insulting him with our weakness. We must be strong. We cannot stand idly by and continue to let disgusting sinners share in the resources and the love that the Lord has created for us. Our weakness is also a sin. We are not listening to the Lord. We may have listened to the first part of his message – the easy part: love and embrace your fellow man – but we have ignored the second part – the hard part: destroy those who oppose the Lord. It is the second part that is most important. And, yes, it is more difficult. But no one ever said that devotion was always easy and comfortable. It takes sacrifice. And it takes strength. For there cannot truly be love and respect and kindness in this earth as long as those with evil souls and black hearts continue to flaunt their sin in the face of the Lord.”
Gabriel pauses for a moment before continuing to speak again.
“But, have faith. We are getting there, my brothers and sisters. We have destroyed the harlot Kelli Starr, we have stopped the evil magician Nathan Saniti, and we have overcome the twisted maniac Alexa Black. But there is still so much more to be done. A drunk, drug addicted sinner holds the World Championship. One of his main contenders, a man who won the prestigious Icemann Invitational Tournament, is an egotistical fool who goes by the name of Kyle Shane. These men continue to flaunt their existence in the face of the Lord. They go against everything He stands for and everything we believe in. They must be eliminated. As long as they are allowed to walk the earth, we have failed. And that is what the Lord is teaching us with this recent display of power. He isn't just showing his power to the nonbelievers, but He is sending us a message as well.”
Gabriel looks up to the heavens.
“But have no fear, my brothers and sisters. Though today’s world often looks frightening, know that you will be protected by the Lord if you give yourself to him fully. And that means following his teachings – all of them. We cannot allow heathens and sinners to mock our great Lord. We cannot let them discredit his teachings. We must destroy them.”
Gabriel looks straight ahead now.
“Whitey Ford is next. He has, perhaps, committed more grave sins than anyone I have ever seen. He may in fact be more wicked than the magician, Saniti. Ford is the living embodiment of everything that is wrong with today’s world. People like him deserve to be washed aside in the great flood. They deserve to be swallowed up by the earth and drowned in a lake of fire. Whitey Ford will bleed for his sins. He will suffer for living a lifestyle that flies in the face of the Lord’s words. He will be eliminated.
Yes, he will. Rest assured, my brothers and sisters, he will.”
Gabriel bows his head.
“Let us pray.”
Gabriel remains in silent prayer for several moments before speaking again.
“Amen. Praise Seromine. Praise the Lord.”
