"You know, it's nice having a friend."
He nearly spit out his coffee, yes coffee. He wasn't a savage like his best friend High Tide. The only man he knew who woke up and poured himself a rum instead of a coffee or tea or an orange juice. What did she say?
"A friend? I didn't know you considered me as such. I'm honored. You have to have friends though. I mean I get you're tough as nails but even strong people have friends," Wasp replied looking back at his newest friend, Trouble. They had been hanging out a lot these days, talking and laughing and generally having a good time. It was a nice change from the boozing and partying and wild orgies that were more the style of High Tide than himself.
"Hah. That's nice of you to say. I'm considered a little odd in the circles I keep. I'm everyone's acquaintance, not a friend. Never a friend. I am very happy to hear you say you consider me a friend. I mean, I don't know why you think we wouldn't be. Haven't we been hanging out non-stop the last couple days? You're the only one who took me under their wing when our little group formed. High Tide is MIA, and Razor Blade is off doing his own thing. It really feels like me and you," Trouble replied flashing him a million dollar smile. If he was a younger man it probably would have melted his heart, but he had no illusions to any kind of relationship like that. Hell, he hadn't had a relationship in a long time.
"I feel the same way. I almost wish you were in the ring with me against Yukio and Braddock. After all we have the synergy and though it might not be as good as mine and Tide's, you're a hell of a lot more reliable. Oh well, I think me and him can take them if he shows up. His cellphone is dead and it's not like him to disappear this long. Our match is tomorrow and I haven't heard from him. Weird," he replied sipping his coffee again now that his choking fit had expired. She had a nice little apartment, Trouble did. Two bedroom in a nice maintained building and well... anything was better than a motel room or a ship. God, he hated the time he had to live with High Tide on a ship. He missed the gym, but not much. It wasn't as good as the company Trouble brought him.
"Don't worry about that. I might not be in the ring, but I'll be in your corner cheering you on. To hell with what they'll say about us. I know we're friends, you know we're friends, and friends have each other's backs. You respected my wishes in my match where I almost defeated Dominator and for that I'll be there in your corner, friend," she replied winking at him.
He roared with laughter. Noticing that both their coffee cups were empty, he picked hers up, always the gentleman and took both cups to her kitchen to refill them. As long as High Tide showed up it was going to be a good week at PCW. He could feel that.
