Rick Majors was shopping again. The last time went out. The couch he had was fine. He even picked up a couple of bookcases that weren’t bad. Plus, there are some sites online that show you how to make Ikea stuff look fancy, so he figured he’d try that. That was basically the only successful planning Rick Majors has done in the last little while. Everything else was, as per usual, a mess.
So why is he in this shopping mall? He didn’t need any more furniture and he’s way to old to be going into some clothing store with loud cool music and youths with piercings. So what was he doing here?
To be honest, he wasn’t quite sure himself. Ever since Seromine put his hands on Kelly, Rick Majors has felt lost. And that wasn’t unusual for him. He had spent most of his adult life feeling lost. But this was different. When Kelly walked into his apartment and said she was willing to help Rick plan a strategy for his match, Rick Majors thought things might go back to normal again. Of course, that was stupid. Rick Majors and Kelly Chalmers split up for a lot of reasons. Their marriage wasn’t a very good one, so it was incredibly naïve to think that things would get better between the two of them. But he couldn't help having some fleeting thoughts that maybe they could be friends again.
And then Seromine attacked her. Once again, Rick Majors was responsible for Kelly getting hurt.
And then bad news kept on coming. The next show, Sicko dominated him in their match. That was expected. Sicko dominates basically everyone. Then Kawhi Leonard left the Raptors. That was also expected. Basically everyone leaves the Raptors.
But it all still sucks. And it’s all left Rick Majors incredibly lost, both in life and in this shopping mall. Where the hell was he? Where’s the exit? Wandering around this mall for a while was supposed to help him clear his mind, but it wasn’t helping. And now he's frustrated on top of depressed. Great.
Then he walked past a pet store. Who doesn’t love a pet store? Puppies and kittens and bunnies can make almost anyone feel better about themselves.
"Maybe I should get a dog," he thought as he walked into the store. A dog would keep him company and love him. A dog would be there for him. "Yeah, this is a great idea," he thought. "I’ll get a dog! A big dog!"
Wait, no, that won’t work. He lives in an apartment. You can’t have a big dog in an apartment. A big dog needs a yard.
Dejected, Rick Majors walked out of the pet store without even looking at the puppies, kittens, and bunnies. There was no point. He would just feel worse. Then he'd be a sad guy staring at a puppy, and no one wants to be a sad guy staring at a puppy.
Maybe he should accomplish something at this mall instead of wandering around trying to distract himself. Maybe he should buy something he actually needs. Rick Majors walked into a drug store. He needed some new razor blades. For shaving. Not for cutting himself. Not this time. He still has work to do.
