"Look at what Richard did to me, mommy!"
As he had done earlier in the night, Jason moves Lucy's photo around to his head. The top of it this time. He was in such a hurry to get back to her and explain what happened, he hadn't bothered picking out the wood splinters from his hair yet.
"And this too!"
Now he moves her photo to his face, making sure the glossy stare is lined up with the red mark left by Rick spin kicking a steel chair back at him. The cracks in the remaining shards of glass may make that impossible. Regardless, he was finding a degree of comfort in holding her photo.
She would be returning soon. So there was also that knowledge to heal everything.
"All I wanted to do was offer him a place to sit down and rest for a moment!" He frowns. "If he didn't want to do that, all he had to do was say no thank you." Now his head drops. "He didn't have to hurt me, but he did. Just like Stormm. Just like everyone but you."
He hugs her photo with his head touching the top of the frame. Jason was all alone in his locker room. Destiny left the building and headed for the airport after making it backstage. She had no desire to stay and see the spot with Rick transpire. She had missed the prior show because Melanie was sick. She made the decision that night to remain home with her going forward, but only after making one final appearance.
Now that she had fulfilled her obligation, she was free to step away from the business. After all, there was no real reason to continue on. Feelings may have differed if not for the infant back home. Or maybe not.
Jason finally cleaned up his hair, counting each splinter that he removed in a singsong voice. There was less of them than there were missing pieces of glass. The important thing about that damage is that Lucy was unharmed. A frame could always be fixed. But a photo?
Stormm would have nothing to worry about in the future because of that. The same couldn't be said for Rick Majors. Something had to be done about him. This had gone on long enough.
It wouldn't be long before Jason had his answer. Deadly Intentions would become the final battleground. Rick Majors would be forced to give up in front of the world.
Then it would be time to Rumble. A chance to end the championship dreams of others. He won the match in 2017. Collision Course didn't end so well for his title reign, but the 2019 edition could make amends.
All he has to do is win the battle.
But not before winning the war.
