Darkness there and nothing more.
That is until an intrusion of fluorescent light arrives.
The vanity mirror, once whole, has shards of glass missing. Thankfully they reside in the sink just below.
A fragmented gaze is shown. The face is that of Jason Willard. He is in no rush to put the puzzle back together.
An eye here. A smile there. His features are out of alignment with the fragmentation.
His gaze turns to the quadruple light bulbs that have sent the dark into hiding. Now he gazes at his reflection in the remnants of the mounted mirror.
He smiles. He smiles touching his face with wet hands. Warm to the touch from the water.
He smiles wide when having his face touched by mommy.
She healed the hurt. She makes everything better.
She makes him feel good.
Mutual.
Mommy once quoted Winnie the Pooh to him. "The most important thing is, even when we're apart, I'll always be with you."
He gently runs a hand across his heart. They won't be apart much longer.
But first, there was Deadly Intentions. Triumph two years ago. Demise last year. Redemption this year.
Rick would soon be just another memory. The Deadly Rumble would be another accolade. He knows what it takes to win twice in the same night.
Jason fixes the damaged mirror. Now the glass is whole again.
His mind is at ease.
And in peaceful slumber.
