Gerard Angelo had been sitting in the dark for a very long time. In fact, this is how he spent most days since the incident. Most might think that means what happened at Collision Course, but it’s actually what happened a few days prior. Gerry had gotten this grand idea to go and try to propose to Kara. She, being already engaged, shot him down. She was very kind about it but it left Gerard mortified and wondering what came over him. That, combined with his loss at the Pay-Per-View, had Gerard all out of sorts. He hasn’t left his home for months, aside from his contractually obligated appearance at Trauma. Not to mention the untimely death of Gerry’s favorite NBA player of all time. All in all, it’s been a damn shitty few months for the Living Legend. Gerard flopped back on his bed, rolling over slightly to avoid the small beam of sunlight that managed to find it’s way in through a crack in the drawn blinds of his master bedroom.
As much as he tried to fight it, his mind kept drifting back to that day in December….
“So did you come here to just talk about wrestling, because you could’ve done that with a phone call.”
Gerard shakes his head.
“No, you brought it up. I came here for this.”
Gerry reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small box. Kara’s eyes go wide as Gerry gets down on one knee.
“Kara Di Marco, will you marry me again?”
Kara looks down at the man who was once her husband as he opens the small, velvet, box. He eyes go wide again once she she was was inside. It was nearly an exact replica of the ring Gerard had given her the first time. She almost asked him how he broke into her apartment to take it back, but she realized the diamonds were much bigger this time around.
“Well? Whaddaya say?” Gerard asks with his trademark smirk as he looks up at the love of his life. Kara chews on her bottom lip before reaching out and shutting the ring box. Gerry raises an eyebrow.
“Gerard,” she starts, her tone letting Gerry know she’s about to hurt him, again, “I’m already engaged to Theo. And, even if I wasn’t, and even if we WERE DATING, we’ve been down this road before. It doesn’t work between us.”
Gerry face falters a bit and he stands back up on both feet.
“Kara, we’re supposed to be together. You’re my soulmate.”
Kara walks up to him and reaches up, touching his cheek.
“Maybe once up on a time.” She says with slight sadness in her eye. “But not anymore. We are no longer kids. We’ve both changed. I moved on. It’s time for you to move on too.”
Gerard grimaces, feeling as if someone just drove a knife into his gut. Feeling of regret surge through him along with embarrassment.
“You’re probably right.” He says, choking out the words. “I just hope your happy.”
Without another word or waiting for a reply from Kara, Gerard turns and swiftly exits her apartment, shutting the door behind him.
Well, that was as the kids say these days, ‘super cringe’.”
Gerard turns and looks shocked as Ba’lal, in his human form, is leaning against the wall.
“What are you doing here? This was suppose to be a memory.”
Ba’lal chuckles.
“A terrible one, too.” The dark lord says, “But it is quite elementary for me. I am already in your head, this was a smile memory modification so we could talk.”
Gerry crosses his arms.
“So after two months of being nowhere to be found, you want to talk now?” Gerard says with a scowl.
“Listen, I am trying to rule the world. That takes time and planning. There were thing I needed to do and prepare.”
“Aren’t you like an omnipotent being? Can’t you just snap your fingers and be like, ‘Hey, I’m in charge now’?”
“If only it were that simple. But, to answer your question, no I can not. Especially with the DMP trying to thwart my every move. So sorry I did not have time for your little adventures in wrestling, dear boy.”
“You want my help for whatever it is you want to do,” Gerard says, scowling at Ba’lal again, “yet you insult me at every turn and refuse to help.”
“To be fair, you have not done anything for me either, though I did help you band together your little wrestling group.”
“You merely gave me an idea. I’m the one who made it happen.”
“Tomato, tomato, as you humans say.” Ba’lal says with a wave of his hand. Gerard just keeps staring at him, which causes the Dark Lord to sigh dramatically.
“Fine, fine. I shall help you become a champion again.”
“That’s more like it.” Gerry says with a nod. Ba’lal gives a slight smile.
“Just remember when it’s time to hold up your end of the bargain, Gerard.”
“And what does that entail, per say?” Gerard asked. Ball just shakes his head and dismisses it with a wave of his hand.
“In due time, dear boy. For now, we both need to prepare. I’ll be in touch.”
With that, Ba’lal snaps his fingers and suddenly Gerard wakes up….
Gerry sit up in bed, panting. Through the cracks in his blinds he can tell it’s night time. The Hollywood Hero rubs his eyes, wondering how much of that was real and how much of it was just a dream. His mind raced between thoughts of Kara, Ba’lal, and what he was getting himself into.
But he is soon distracted from his musing by the light of his phone, alerting him he has a missed text message from his slumber. He checked it, noticing it was a text from Holden. He was gonna be in the Golden State for the week and wanted to link up. Gerry thought this was a good idea so he could finally get Holden a proper suit befitting of his status. He sent Holden a text back about his idea, letting him know he could throw it on his tab as well. The text had also reminded him that he and Holden were in that massive triple threat tag match on Trauma. PCW loved booking tag matches. It seemed to be the go to move when there were problems between multiple competitors. Hell, aside from Cory Steel (who was returning yet again), Gerard had bad blood with nearly everyone he was opposed against. His problems with Grimm were well documented, so long as you weren’t living under a rock. And Gerard had a thing or two to handle with the other member of the Black Hand, since he injured David. Not to mention Dominator also ruined his first night as World Champion last year in the Champion’s Showcase triple threat. Big Dom had a few receipts coming his way. And of course Justin “Stormm” Michaels. Perhaps Gerry’s least favorite person in the company. Gerard was going to get another shot at him and the PCW World Championship. That was for certain. He was also certain Stormm wouldn’t be entering that match at one hundred percent.
Gerard slide his body over and placed his barefoot on the carpet. There was no time to sulk anymore. Not over Kara, not over getting screwed at Collision Course. Hell not even over Kobe. It was time to have a Mamba Mentality and take over PCW, once, and for all.
