(The scene opens up to reveal Mark Lightning, looking fresh and ready for Living A Legacy. He is sitting on a bus, in his seat alone, with a big bag at his side. He is currently wearing a pair of jeans and a home team Eric Lindros New York Rangers hockey jersey. He is looking out of the window of the bus, staring at the scenery he passes by. A factory. A high school. A church. Finally, he turns his head to face the filming camera.)
Lightning: "Amazing, isn't it? Amazing how only a few weeks into Pure Class Wrestling and just a few matches, now I'm in Living A Legacy, and if I win my match, I get a shot at either LoKi or Ace Anderson for the North American championship. But hey, I'm not telling you people anything that you don't already know."
He gives an easygoing, genuine smile.
Lightning: "But hey, I know it won't be easy, believe me. After all, whenever you are in a fatal four way match, your odds of winning drop drastically, cut in half as a matter of fact. No longer is it a coin toss, you are only expected 25%. And since it is one fall and not elimination, I don't even have to be part of the decision. Hard enough as it is, never mind throwing in three superstars the caliber of Ender Slyth, Zellmo, and the extremely hot and extremely tough Chrissy Johnson. I've proved myself twice against Ender, I know I can take him. But I have never faced the other two. I don't know what to expect, and it will be tough. One big challenge awaits me at Living A Legacy."
There is a brief pause, during which Lightning takes a sip of coffee from a styrofoam capped Wawa cup, licking his lips and looking back up at the camera.
Lightning: "It's good cappuccino. Damn good cappuccino. Very flavorful, sweet, and rewarding. And it goes down smoothly. It's just like my victory at Living A Legacy will be. You see, I'm perfectly comfortable and confident in my abilities, that even though I'm going up against three opponents, and I don't even have to lose to not win, I believe I'm good enough to get the job done and then some. Even then though, I've got an even tougher task ahead of me if I win, no, when I win. Then on the following Tuesday Night Trauma, I will face either one of the two solidly established superstars that are LoKi and Ace Anderson. That will be hard, I know it. But I'm young and energetic and never short of confidence, and I have the tools to get it done, to win that title, and you know what? I will do it. By God, I will do it."
Mark seems to wander off, his eyes straying around, and it looks like he is daydreaming or pondering about something. He seems to completely forget about the whole promo that he is supposed to be doing until the cameraman's hand reaches out and taps him on the shoulders. Lightning gives a little jump, surprised, and he looks back at the camera.
Lightning: "Sorry about that. I swear that's never happened before. Not on camera at least. It's just that sometimes, out of nowhere, these thoughts pop into my head. Bad thoughts. Thoughts of my past. Things I have seen. My home. I can't complain about where I lived. When I still lived with my parents, we were living large. My dad owned five of the hottest nightclubs there were in New York City. We were filthy stinking rich. We lived at the top of the apartment building, in the penthouse suite on the Lower East side. However, the windows, from the windows, they overlooked Harlem. And let's just say I've seen all kinds of things. Gang knife fights, group muggings, even a few shootings and rapes performed right in the public eye in broad daylight. Things like that, they have fucked with my mind, I get these flashes. And then the so many other things."
He looks down sadly and shakes his head, talking, while his head is still down.
Lightning: "Sixteen years old, and my parents just throw me out of the house. Fucking abandon me. To think that only happened five short years ago. I've seen my brother been hauled off into jail, never to be seen again. It's been four years since I've heard from him, and I don't know where he is. My mother dying, and that was the ONLY thing that ever brought me and my dad together again, he still has not forgiven me. But yet I still wrestle and dedicate it to him. But enough with all of this bullshit. You don't want to hear my life story."
He pauses.
Lightning: "It's too depressing."
He brings his head back up to face the camera once again.
Lightning: "Enough with the straying away. I didn't organize this promo to pour my heart out and my problems out to the world. I am shooting this for one reason, and that is to send a message to my opponents, to LoKi, to Ace Anderson, to all of PCW. The message is really very simple. It is brief but clear. Plain and simple, all you need to know is that you better start fearing Lightning. The things Lightning can do to you are unbelievable. Lightning can kill you, paralyze you, cripple and maim you, fry up all of your skin and put you in a seizure and a coma."
He points into the camera for a brief moment saying the next sentence, with his left index finger.
Lightning: "So you better start fearing it, for your own good. And if not, you better at least respect me. I fight not to get rich, I fight for honor, glory, passion, desire. And to gain respect for my accomplishments. For once in my life, I want to be the one on the receiving end of 'You are my role model. I want to be just like you.' I've never had anyone look up to me. But this really isn't about being a role model neither. I am here to make a statement, to test my own abilities, push myself to my limit if there is one."
There is once more another brief pause, and he takes another sip of the Wawa cappuccino, wiping off the frothy moustache above his upper lip.
Lightning: "I'll tell you what. This stuff sure is uplifting and spiriting. Something I've been in dire need of. In PCW, men…or women for that matter, make a name for themselves in the public eye. I'm here to do that, not just by my great abilities that I have practiced on and am still molding, but I also have to prove to the world just how much I am worth, as a person. The cash will flow in on its own time; it can wait for now. But my message to send to the world can't wait. My message comes at Living A Legacy. Now, you ask yourself, just what is that message?"
He breaks out in another genuine, easygoing, big smile on his face, laughing heartily but at a respectable volume, so as not to be rude.
Lightning: "Well I'll tell you what that message is. My parents, when I dropped out of high school, they turned on me, big time. They started saying I wasn't worth a piece of cow shit and that I would amount to nothing. Fucking bastards, enough of an asshole to say something like that to their own son. Whatever happened to our sweet baby boy? They used to say. You see, he grew up into a man, and you weren't ready to release your grip and let this man march on and take control of his own life. I had to prove a point, and so I rebelled. That is when I dropped out of high school, that was the rebellion. Not that it was the only reason. I knew there was nothing there for me. How would school help me become a wrestler? It would hold me back. They disowned me, and I went through Hell and back so many times that it would make you gasp. So the message is, that I am worth quite a lot of cow shit, enough to fertilize the whole damn farm."
He pauses and smiles, snickering a little bit.
Lightning: "And so just what will I exactly be amounting to?"
He laughs once more.
Lightning: "That's quite simple. The PCW North American championship, that is what. Stick this up your ass parents and all authority figures, stick it up far. Nothing is more powerful than destiny. Destiny shapes a man's legacy, and damn it, you bet your ass I'm going to be living it."
(Fade to black as he drinks some more cappuccino.)
