It didn’t take me long to get from my place to the arena, it never really does. I had a few ideas of what I wanted to shoot for with this promo. Number one and probably the most important was to shoot back at Anderson for the things he said. Number two was to address that fuck Prophet. I sighed, so many people to insult so little time.
I walked into the production room looking for a cameraman to tape my promo and had another PCW first for me. None of the camera guys were in the production room, and I soon figured out why, all the feed screens were on and they were taping one thing or another. “Crap” I muttered, “Guess I can just wait around for a little bit.” At least I didn’t have to wait to long because after about five minutes one of the screens went black and I knew the camera crew would be here in a few minutes.
And again I was right, not five minutes after the screen went black one of the camera crews came walking up the hall, and to my good fortunes it was Sam’s crew. Sam is probably the best camera man in the business, he really knows his stuff. If there is a certain angle you want on a shot, or some special kind of lighting then Sam is your go to guy, the man could work magic. “Hey Sam how’s it going?” I asked. “Not to bad my man,” came his nonchalant reply, “Just finishing up a few shots for another one of the wrestlers. Did you need something?” “Yup, sure do. I need a camera crew for my promo.” Sam’s eyes lit up, “Well then lets get to work right away, it’s always a blast shooting for you.”
I told Sam what I wanted to do, and a few minutes later we were all on the roof. Everything was set up, Sam and his crew were ready to shoot and I knew everything I wanted to say. Sam pointed at me to signify that he was ready. I nodded back telling him I was ready to and I watched the little red light come on. Taking a deep breath I began to talk, and then my phone rang. I gave Sam a look apologetic look, he just looked annoyed. I looked down at my phone again, it was still ringing and it was Whisper.
LoKi: Hey babe, feeling better?
Whisper: Yes much better thank you. LoKi did you send Renegade over to take care of me?
LoKi(grinning): Ya I did, you ok?
Whisper: oh I’m fine, I just wanted to let you know I was ok, and I wanted to ask you something.
LoKi: What do you need?
Whisper: I was wondering if you needed any help.
LoKi: Help with what Whisp?
Whisper: You told me you were going to shoot a promo, I was wondering if you would mind me being in it with you?
I smiled, this was actually a really good idea. I had been dating Whisper for a few months now and I’d never had her in one of my promos yet. Guess it was time to rectify that situation. But if I did that I would have to change things around. When she was taken out of the building last week, I didn’t know if she was allowed back in, so instead of butting heads with management. I covered the phone real quick, “Sorry bout this Sam, but I need to make some changes.” He groaned, “All right but make it quick, we still have a lot of footage to edit tonight.” “Ya I just need to get to the beach, I want Whisper in the promo with me and I don’t know how that’s going to work at the arena.” “all right we can do that, you go get your lady, and we’ll meet you out there.” I thanked Sam and got back on the phone with Whisp.
LoKi: All right it’s all taken care of beautiful, I’ll be there in a few minutes to pick you up ok.
Whisper: I’m sorry to be so much trouble.
LoKi: It’s not a problem babe, I’ll see you in a few. I love you.
Whisper: I love you to.
I flipped my phone closed and headed off the roof, Sam and his crew still packing up the equipment. I took the stairs two at a time as I headed towards my car. I hopped the rail and skipped the last flight almost entirely. I landed in a crouch and got up smiling. I hadn’t done stupid stuff like that since I was a kid, felt good to just be able to screw around again. I clicked the remote starter as I walked towards the new silver Porsche I was driving. I got back on the road, making record time back to the apartment.
My goddess was outside waiting for me when I pulled up. I popped the car door and she got in and leaned over and kissed me. I returned her kiss and smiled at her, “You ready to go?” She laughed, “I was born ready.” I laughed and kissed her again, before slamming on the accelerator and taking off towards the coast.
Whisper slept most of the way there and I stole the occasional glance at her. I loved her so much, maybe I would ask her to marry me. I laughed, the thought of marriage still scared the shit out of me, maybe someday though. I laughed to myself, I wonder if every guy got this nervous when he even thought about marriage.
I didn’t have a lot of time to think about it as I saw my exit looming. I turned off the exit to the beach, still thinking. I couldn’t ask her to marry me know, I didn’t even have a ring. I ran my fingers over the crucifix hanging around my neck, maybe I could give her this. This cross meant so much to me, I don’t really care about religion or god or anything like that. But that cross was given to me by my parents before I lost contact with them, it was my only memento of a happy childhood.
I pulled into the empty parking lot of the deserted beach, the sun was just starting to set, this was going to be perfect. I reached over and gently shook Whisper awake, “Hey wake up Whisp, we’re here.” She gave me a tired smile and slowly stretched, her raven black hair blowing gently behind her in the ocean breeze. “Ok babe, lets do this.” I laughed, “Take it easy cowgirl, the camera guys aren’t even here. So I thought maybe you and I could sit by the ocean and just relax.”
Whisper returned my smile with one of genuine ones, one of the first genuine smiles I’d seen in a while. “That sounds nice.” We both got out of the car and hand in hand started walking down towards the sound of lapping waves as they hit the sand. I found a nice spot and sat down, Whisper right next to me, cuddling into my arms and chest. Neither one of us spoke because no words were appropriate right now, they would just detract from the beauty of the moment. I groaned loudly as I heard an approaching vehicle, guess that means Sam finally caught up to us. I could see the disappointment in Whisper’s eyes, “Don’t worry babe, we’ll stay for a little while afterwards, just you and me.”
She smiled at me, I grinned back. I looked up and saw Sam and the rest of his crew lugging a camera and some sound equipment across the sand, looking quite irritated. “LoK, what the hell were you thinking dragging us out here, if any of this equipment gets so much as a grain of sand in it, I’m going to have to tear it apart and give every nook and cranny one hell of a cleaning job.” “Don’t worry about it Sam, I’m just going to need one take, that’s it, I promise.” Sam grumbled a bit under his breath but didn’t say anything else. His crew had already set to work, running cables to and from the van, setting up a level surface for the camera, and finding good angles to take the shots from.
Sam had come over to me and asked me what I had in mind. He seemed to get less angry when I told him all my reasoning’s and what I needed to accomplish in this promo. “You just leave all the shooting to me kid, you and your gorgeous women just do the talking ok.” The film guys had everything set up and ready to shoot when Sam got back over there. I took this time to position myself with Whisper as best I could, and I must say I was happy with the results. Sam and I traded glances, and just like that, I was ready.
