The last two weeks had NOT been kind to PCW's resident soothsayer, The Prophet.
To start his troubles, The Prophet earlier in the week had been forced into a tag team affair against the unlikely pairing of Slither and his adversary at the Return to Glory PPV, Landon Divine. His partner? Well, this was the only bright spot of the whole ordeal, as he was allowed to choose his own partner. And who better than a Brother in Faith, the International Champion...PEGASUS.
And so it was set in stone. The Prophet & Pegasus vs. Landon Divine and Slither. A match-up for the ages. One that would be talked about for months and maybe years to come. It was. Talked about, the story on the lips of every audience member, every backstage hand, every PCW staff member. The Prophet had gotten through to Pegasus and he was going to assist the Prophet in his match at Trauma [11]. It was going to be glorious, and The Prophet was going to be heralded for freeing the soulbound Pegasus.
This...would NOT be the case. During the course of the match, The Prophet was forced to go it alone as Pegasus did not arrive at the beginning of the match, leaving him to battle in a handicapped situation against Landon Divine and Slither. Until Pegasus arrived on the scene, no doubt there to assist his Brother in his time of need.
In the instant that an eye blinks, hopes and dreams are shattered. Hearts and souls are torn asunder, and the very heavens rebel at the true nature of man. To be vengeful, to be spiteful, filled with hate and evil. And Pegasus was no exception. In a moment of weakness, a touch of evil had spread like a cancer through Pegasus' body and soul, and Pegasus laid the Prophet low. Not content to simply pummel the Prophet into virtually nothing, Pegasus made sure that an impression was made on him, as his head was split open with a single punch, a gash that required fifteen stitches to the head. Taken to a local hospital, The Prophet was content to recuperate...
until Trauma [12]. This week, it was scheduled to be Landon Divine and The Prophet taking on Pegasus and Slither. All four combatants having made their way to the ring, The Prophet seemed to be the one most fired up as his very body trembles, energy coursing through his veins like so much electricity as he begins to stalk the ring, staring Slither down with a cold gaze. With no hesitation whatsoever, the battle is joined as The Prophet wades inward, beginning to rain down blow after blow upon Slither, receiving nearly as much as he was giving. However, he would NOT be denied the venting of his anger, his frustration over his Brother. He would not be denied...until Pegasus interjected.
AGAIN.
This time, Pegasus caught him from the front with a massive spear that doubled The Prophet over onto the mat. Knowing that the Return to Glory PPV was rapidly approaching, he decided discretion was the better part of valour as he slid under the ropes and rolled out of the ring to make his way backstage. Gesturing all the while and clutching at his midsection, absolutely livid at Pegasus' repeated attempts to bring the Prophet's grand plan to rubble. Cursing violently, this doesn't stop him from continuing to retreat as Pegasus begins to chase him backstage. Pulling steel boxes and crates behind him, tugging them over into Pegasus' path as he hoped to make good his escape. At one point, the Prophet even grabs Glenda Wood by the shoulders and lightly shoves her into Pegasus' waiting arms.
Moving out into the parking lot, The Prophet walks out as fans still outside, due to lack of tickets for the event, begin a 'Prophet Sucks' chant. The imbeciles....misbegotten monstrosities! Shaking his head as he hurries along, he spots his car waiting for him, already cranked up and ready to go. Hopping into the car's passenger side backseat, he signals the driver to floor it. Pegasus reaching the car just as the signal is given, the car's back wheels and tires spin lightly on the ground before it propels itself forward, away from Pegasus. The vengeful, maniacally possessed Pegasus actually attempting to chase for a moment or two, it looked as he may catch up for a second. However, the car raced out of the arena's vicinity, leaving Pegasus in the dust.
And all the while, with no cause whatsoever, the Prophet begins to laugh. Uncontrollably, manically, absolutely in hysterics. Though quite frazzled, he was able to keep his wits and sense of humour about him as he says to himself.
