Look at yourself Jason, you’re practically a FAGGOT! Let me back in, and I’ll bring you back up, up to what you deserve.
Those are the words that I heard last night, during my slumber. They’re getting rather annoying. Ace Anderson is trying to get back into my head, but I won’t let him. He’s too much of a burden. I don’t even need him. Or does some part of me want him back, for it is my own head that continues to say these things...Katelyn walking into the room distracts me from my thoughts, as I look up at her pretty face.
“Nervous about Tag Team Turmoil?” she asks me, as she sits down next to me on the couch. She begins to play with my hair as I look in her wonderful eyes.
“Me, nervous? Never. There is something I’m nervous about though.”
“About what, dear?”
Even the thought of this confused me. Hopefully she can make some sense about it. “I have a fan, a fan that I’m going to meet.”
“Well, it’s alright to be nervous about that. This person must idolize you, and that’s more something to be proud of than to be nervous about.”
“Yes, but you don’t understand. This fan, is Lantlas’ daughter.” The look on her face after this is as confused as the look on mine was when Lantlas told me that he wanted me to meet his daughter. Apparently, his daughter has some sort of obsession over me, which is weird, to say the least. I’m not so sure what I did to deserve it.
“Honey, that is a bit strange but I’m sure there’s a good reason why she’s a fan of Ace Anderson.”
“Well I didn’t think I had a fan in the world, let alone a fan that happens to be the daughter of my most challenging opponent of my entire career, save Non Compos Mentis.” I say the last words as I roll my eyes.
She chuckles a bit. “Well, maybe that’s why she likes you. Maybe it’s because you’re the only person in the world who can, without cheating, defeat her father. She must see you as worthy.”
“I sent Lantlas a text message about it last night. I want to meet her. I figure I owe it to her, for being my only as well as my number one fan.”
“Who is she going to be cheering for at Return to Glory?” Katelyn said these words with an almost concern.
“Well, I would hope that she cheers for her father. I know if I had a daughter and she cheered against me in one of the most important matches of my career, it would crush me. Lantlas doesn’t deserve to be crushed, not by his own daughter.” I reply.
“Well maybe you could talk to her about just that.”
“You’re so smart.” I say as I give her a kiss on her cheek.
“Ya know, Lantlas is getting a lot of publicity now that he is World Champion.”
“Yeah, that’s one thing that I don’t miss about that mess. Too much camera time for my liking, surprisingly. I liked to be on camera, but not with people throwing a barrage of stupid questions at me that I never had any intention to answer, until I did just so they would shut up.”
“Speaking of shutting up, Non Compos Mentis was talking about you last night.” she said with raised eyebrows.
“Oh really? Never saw that, don’t want to. I’ve learned to pretty much disregard whatever he says.”
“Yeah, makes sense, but he’s talking about how you used the tag titles to step up to the North American title, calling it his title, and he was contradicting himself like you wouldn’t believe. Good thing you taught me how to watch a promo.” she said as she stuck her tongue out at me. I pretended as though I was going to bite it, and then kissed her.
“Maybe I’ll have to give him a piece of my mind. Straighten him out. Or maybe I’ll just go on letting him sound like a complete jackass. It’s not like it wouldn’t be doing what he has been doing to himself for his entire career. Everything that has ever came out of that guy’s mouth has been stupid.”
“Well, maybe not as bad as Slither.”
“You watched that long ago?” I ask her. I didn’t know she was that much of a fan.
“I saw the match that you won the World Title. I watched hoping you would lose. Then I realized that if you didn’t win, that would have been pathetic.”
“Funny, I thought the same thing, and so did Ace Anderson.”
“Well, see. Sometimes you and your worse half thought alike.” she just looks at me with anticipating eyes after that, but I think I know what she is thinking.
“Alright then, go get the camera. You can film me putting Non Compos Mentis in his place.” she jumps up off the couch excitedly after this. It seems that she has taken a liking to my promos, as though they’re something inspirational, or something. I almost feel bad about doing this to poor Non Compos Mentis after all I’ve done in the past and after all Al Laiman is going to put him through. I know well enough that records don’t often lie, not when you’re a World Champion, or when your record is as impressive as Laiman’s. Non Compos Mentis had trouble with me when I was basically a rookie in PCW. The guy has never pinned me. How is he supposed to be beat Al Laiman?
Katelyn returns with the camera, and I suppose I’m ready, so I just tell her to turn it on. She turns it on, but I raise a hand.
“Wait, let me watch the Non Compos Mentis promo first. I don’t wanna get redundant or contradicting, like trash man himself.”
Katelyn brings in a tape, as I have told her before to tape every promo. I walk it, and then I am truly ready. She picks up the camera, and turns it on.
“Hey Non Compos Mentis! What’s going on, man? Do you remember all of those feuds we’ve had in the past? Those were some heated rivalries. But there are some things you’re forgetting. I saw your little promo, and I’m not really impressed. Not impressed by the way that you talk about me. As though I’m lucky or something. I didn’t use the Tag Team Titles as a stepping stone to the North American Title, and then that as a stepping stone to the World Title. I used my excellent display in singles competition, in the Icemann Invitational, as a way to get to the North American Title, and a World Title shot at the same time.” I make a little pause, as I so often do, for emphasis.
“You are forgetting exactly how you obtain that North American Title in the first place. Let’s think back, as you’re not the only person with PCW web site access. Let’s think back to December 11th. The fateful day in which my five month, ten day run as World Champion started. You pinned Slither, and you were named the North American Champion. The only reason you ever pinned Slither was because I wanted to lose the dead weight. The North American Championship has a peak, Mentis. I had to get rid of it, for no North American Champion aside from myself has ever went on to win the World Title. If that’s what you plan on doing, you’re in for some trouble. You held that title until February, in which you lost to Johnny V. Then it was vacated, and you beat an injured Benjamin Banks to win it back. You expect to step up to the World Title picture? Dude, it’s been six months, and you haven’t even held that prize you call yours the entire time. You say many North American Champions have gone on to bigger, better things? Let’s look it over, shall we. Sexay Jay. Career practically ended by me. Oh wait, Angelica Night was North American Champion. She was an impressive competitor, one I hoped I would have faced, but unfortunately all the North American Title led her to was a drug addiction. LoKi. International Title. Defeated by me, and destroyed by Prophet it would seem. Johnny Vivacious, beating yourself, he went on to get fired.” I laugh a bit. Just a tiny bit, however.
“As you can see, Non Compos Mentis, aside from yours truly, you aren’t in much of a talent pool being a North American Champion, and winning the Tag Team Titles might actually help you out. Speaking of Tag Titles, this ‘Tag Team Turmoil’ looks rather interesting. I told myself that I’d never want the Tag Team Titles again, but being the winner that I am, I won’t lay down in the matches I’ve been put in. Whoever has to face me, and whoever becomes my partner, I might just have to begin a second reign as Tag Team Champion, and you’re either in the way or along for the ride. If my partner decides to pull a Sean Hunter, they can expect a match against me for crossing me. You’re not better than Ace Anderson, I’m sorry to say. Also, Lantlas, Grimm, if either of you become my partner, then PCW better be ready for the most dominant tag team you will ever see. You all saw last week what Lantlas and I did to 2Guys, and I’m sure if Grimm was on my team it would have been just as bad. You see, Non Compos Mentis, I may be cocky, and I may have been the most arrogant bastard ever, but at least I’m not and I wasn’t like you. Ignorant to the very core. That’s all I gotta say to you, Mentis. The rest of you, I don’t plan on adding another loss to my record, and I don’t plan on losing any more matches. That means that if I have to win the Tag Team Titles, and then win the World Title, I’ll do what I have to do. Oh, and Lantlas, I’m looking forward to seeing you at Return to Glory. It will be another match worth taping for all of you fans at home.” I give a smile and nod for Katelyn to end the feed.
She comes over to me and gives me a big hug, and then she runs off to upload the video. I can’t believe how much she has adapted to being a part of the business. It’s not easy, not for me, not for her, but she seems to love it. I just hope she doesn’t get bored of it. Being a professional wrestler involves sacrifices, by me, and by both of us if we want to have a relationship. I again think of asking her to marry me. Not yet. Not for a while, I don’t think.
I lay down on the couch, and close my eyes.
I was the reason you beat Non Compos Mentis.
I hear it in my head, and I only have one response. You fucking wish.
