I should have realized something was going on. Then again, after all the rough spots I've gotten myself into, I'm starting to think that it's something I do on purpose. Heh, I need to start paying more attention to the things that go on outside of my life. Had I been paying the news, or even checked in at the company for the latest happenings, I wouldn't be in this mess. Just my luck too... I bet the Icemann will be hearing something about this along with my little trouble at that club...
About ten minutes ago...
Pegasus had decided last week to do a little of his own cooking. He'd been eating a lot of the hotel food, and although it was good, he just felt like making himself some food. It's how he got by before he got his deal with PCW and started living at the hotel, and he just felt that he should make sure he still had some skill in case he ever had to leave the comfort of the hotel. He also had a headache that he guessed was due to one too many blows to the head from the club fight. He also figured this small trip would give him a little time to think about his upcoming match. It would be the first gauntlet match he'd ever been involved in, and he was also the first man to enter into the ring. With The Prophet no less, which put him at even more of a disadvantage.
After parking his truck in the parking lot, Pegasus hopped out and ran a hand through his hair. He looked at the PCW shirt that he wore, something he rarely ever did. It wasn't that he wanted to, but he was told that any and all publicity they could create for the PPV would be greatly appreciated. So instead of the regular white shirts that Pegasus was so fond of, he wore the PCW logo across his chest. He quickly made his way towards the store, as he had to park quite a ways back in the lot. He'd chosen this Wal-Mart as he new exactly where it was, having driven by it many times on his trips out of the city, and he figured they'd have most of the items he'd need. The doors slid open for him as he wandered in, and he gave a small wave and "Hey" to the greeter that stood near the entrance. The man must have been called on his radio though, for as soon as he saw Pegasus, he quickly jerked around and reached for it. Pegasus just shrugged and looked for his supplies.
As he walked around the store, he started to think more about the upcoming challenge he had. The biggest challenge of the men he faced was obviously The Prophet. He had never defeated him, although he'd only really faced him in a couple of one on one matches. It was something like that though, a huge HUGE mental hurdle that he would have to overcome if he even wanted to think about making it to the next stage of the match. It was true that he put more emphasis on The Prophet than any of the other men, but only because that was his first opponent. There was no way he could really plan for the next part of the match, and to do so was suicide. Pegasus know there was no way he could plan for David Van Dam, or even farther ahead for Showtime. It just wasn't possible. Because the moment Pegasus was to look ahead, would be the moment that The Prophet would take him out. And there would be no recovery, there would be no comeback.
That was something that many of the other wrestlers didn't realize about Prophet. Either that or they just refused to accept it. Prophet wasn't what you would call a normal wrestler. He was methodical in everything that he did. A simple mistake in the ring with any other wrestler can be eventually made up for, but a mistake with Prophet in the opposite corner... that was something that would surely lead to defeat. And Pegasus knew this, and he respected the Prophet for it. He was a man that could take the smallest mistakes, whether it be mental or physical, and turn it against you in a heartbeat. Pegasus had learned it by watching him, by working with him, and even though he'd seen it performed many times, he could never repeat the performance himself. Many of the other wrestlers that have faced Prophet and lost to him always ask what they could have done better, or if only they wouldn't have made as many mistakes. But the fact of the matter is, unless you are perfect inside that ring, the Prophet will exploit every weakness you have, every mistake you make, and he will take you out.
All it takes is one mistake and you've already lost. It was why Pegasus was more focused on him than ever. It was why DVD and Showtime meant nothing. They were nothing. They didn't matter to Pegasus, not now. It was all about the Prophet. Don't get Pegasus wrong now, he's not saying that the men aren't good wrestlers. They are some of the best PCW has to offer. But Prophet was that much better. And unless Pegasus focused on Prophet completely, he wouldn't stand a chance. If Pegasus made it past the first part, then he could start to focus on his next opponent, and perhaps, if things went well... he could even focus on his final opponent.
He was now wondering down an aisle full of spaghetti supplies, and it was something Pegasus always heard you should eat before big events. Carbohydrates or something like that... he couldn't remember. He just slowly scanned the boxes as he walked along and didn't notice the other man a few feet away. It wasn't a major collision, far from it. It was just a little bump that caught them both off guard, and if anything at all, just made them jump a little. Pegasus smiled, and was about to apologize when he heard it.
Stop him!
He didn't even have a chance to react as two men wrapped their arms around him and began to haul him to the front of the store. He wasn't really in a mood to struggle though, and he willingly went with them as they dragged him along. As they came to the front doors, a person stood at the side with their arms crossed, a disgusted look on their face. He quickly found out it was one of the higher up people that stared him down. And that catches our story up, with Pegasus face to face with a Wal-Mart manager, two guards at his side ready to escort off the premises.
Pegasus right? Listen, we're sorry this has to go down this way, but we just can't have any more bad press caused by you and your fellow roster members in this store. The incident that your friend Johnny caused here a few weeks ago caused us to take a few extra precautions when we dealt with you and the rest of the PCW people. We made sure that the employees had pictures of you, and that if anyone was seen in the store that resembled any of those pictures, we had security follow them around to make sure that nothing happened. It's a good thing that we did it too, may have just saved that customer you were having problems with a trip to the emergency room.
Uhh... you do know who I am, so I'll keep this short. What Johnny did wasn't exactly called for, but not all of us take after him. Not all of us are quick to anger, in fact, I'd probably run from a fight before I start one.
Regardless of what you claim you would do, you still did participate in a fight at a club recently, am I right? You didn't seem to run from that fight. I'm sorry sir, but we can't have any more incidents at this store, it just wouldn't look good. Gentlemen, please escort this man to his vehicle.
They walked in silence, Pegasus in front and the two guards a few feet behind. It seemed like a longer walk out to the truck than it was from it, but perhaps his mind was just playing tricks on him. As he slid behind the wheel of his truck, Pegasus couldn't help but think that the old saying "There's no such thing as bad publicity" apparently didn't refer to Wal-Mart. He let out a soft sigh as he backed out, still without food, and with a headache even worse than before.
OOC: Well... yea... this is it. No excuses really... just didn't feel it this weekend. Sorry if this isn't what ya hoped for J.V., but thank you for allowing me to run with it.
