He wasn't a fan of volleyball. Never figured he would be either, but the things that he had planned for the next few minutes, or hours depending on how things went, followed basically the same concept. Bump, set, and spike. Which he had affectionately named his operation as. A witty fellow isn't he.
Part one of the operation, or B.U.M.P. as he called it, was the simplest, and easiest part. The letters stood for, "Bring under my power"... which the more he thought about it, was really really stupid... but it was what he had to do. He had to initiate contact with her, or bump her, and from there he had to find a way to basically, get her interested, whether it was for a few minutes or for hours, he had to get her interested just a little. And from there he could move onto part two of the plan.
The setting for part one would be halfway between the apartment she lived at, and the cafe where he had found out she worked. He was quite shocked to find her working there, especially after the "side jobs" he'd seen her committing. He didn't expect her to have such a normal job as that, but she did. It actually helped him out quite a bit as she walked home everyday, right along the path that he had strategically placed himself in. And everything was going according to plan so far.
He watched as she left the establishment, and then made her way down the street towards him. He'd taken care to make sure he hadn't been spotted yet, and he was actually quite curious to see if she'd even recognize his face. He'd hidden himself in an alley, occasionally peeking out as she came closer. The rest of the street was fairly empty, with the rare car driving by every now and then. And then she reached the mark he'd visualized when he was to make his move. He shoved his hands into his pockets and stepped out of the alley and right into her path, too late for her to move.
The impact caused her to drop her purse but nothing more. Pegasus quickly bent over to retrieve it. He stood up in front of her, smile on his face as he held out the purse.
I'm sorry about that, I wasn't watching where I was going.
She looked at his face for only a brief moment, and in those few seconds he could see she knew who he was. She should have been an actor though, for the moment she turned back everything was back to normal for her. She reached out with both hands and took the purse.
Thank you. I didn't even see you come around the corner, so it's partly my fault too. But thank you.
Do you live near by? Perhaps I could walk you home. There are some thiefs that wander around this area, can never be too safe ya know.
She raised her eyebrows at him, and it looked as if she'd turn him down. Much to his surprise though, she agreed. Part one of the operation was a success, although he now had a time limit on the next two parts. He tried to move through the small talk as fast as possible, she introducing herself as Melissa, and he as Jonathon Nordby, of course.
They walked along, passing little tidbits about each other, and it was then he moved into part two. Setting in volleyball was basically that, a transition move used to set up the final move. S.E.T. in this case stood for "Start Entangling Things." Again, now that he actually thought about it... he realized that he was the worst person at making up operation names. Never the less, he continued on with his plan, even though he already knew the answer to his question.
So Melissa, where do you work at?
I actually work at a cafe down the street a ways. It's not much, but it gets me by. It's close to where I live too, so I don't need a vehicle, which is good. I don't think I could afford to have one the way things are in my life. How about you Jonathan, what is it exactly that you do?
That was what he wanted. And now he had the chance.
Well, if you want to be technical about it, I guess you could say I'm in the sports entertainment business.
Ooooh... like broadcasting sports on T.V. or something? Or the radio?
Heh... not quite. To put it simple, I'm a professional wrestler.
She stopped, turned towards him and looked him up and down... twice. Then she started walking again, and he fell in step right behind her.
A wrestler huh... for that promotion in town I take it?
That's the one. Pure Class Wrestling... heh, where wrestling has class.
Interesting... I didn't figure you for anything that... demanding on someone. I have to know though... the million dollar question... is it real?
And this was it... the final step. He smiled as he tried to form the words in his mind before he said them, so that he could really finish things off. Which, in volleyball, a spike was often used to do. He didn't have some silly saying for the word though... he couldn't think of any for spike... which after his first two of them, was probably a good thing. Anyways, this was it. Part three of his operation.
Haha, the million dollar question is right. Well Miss Melissa, I'll tell you what. We actually have a PPV coming up this weekend, and if you aren't busy, I have a ticket if you'd like to come see for yourself. Then you can tell me if it's real or not. And if you want, show up early and I might be able to show you around the arena a bit.
They'd arrived at her apartment, and he reached into his back pocket and produced the ticket, holding it out in front of her, hoping to entice her to take it. She took it and looked it over, smirking in a way.
I can't say I've ever really had an urge to go to one of those events, but I've also never been given a free ticket to a show either. So yea... I'll try to show up. And if I show up early, I will be expecting a tour.
She gave him a soft smile as she disappeared behind the closing door to her apartment building. Pegasus smiled himself before hopping down the steps one by one, and then started his trek towards his hotel. Now all he had to do was hope she showed... although the more important matter would be that he actually survive his match to perhaps see her after the show too. Heh... yea... survive... easier said than done with his opponents in this type of match.
OOC: Damn you Icey... just knicking me with the deadline... heh, teach me for having writers block. Eh... oh well, still glad I posted.
