Every now and then, people ask me why I named my daughter Liberty. Well…there’s several reasons behind that decision. One, she was born on the fourth of July. The name felt perfect given the occasion. Two, me and Mel wanted something different. Three, we just happen to like the name Liberty. So Liberty was given the middle name of Jade and thus on July 4, 2002, Liberty Jade York was born into this world. I couldn’t be any prouder nor happier to be a father to her than I am every waking day of my life. Libby is a very special girl and god, I love her to death. She is what inspires me day in and day out to be who I am outside of the ring. Melanie means a lot to me as well, but Liberty is by blood. No turning back from that. No turning back at all.

[6:35 a.m.]
It all started with me being out on the computer doing some late night research, on Pure Class Wrestling. I had just gotten done looking over the results of some of the previous, yet recent shows when I heard the voice. Ya know, THAT voice. With that voice, came those words. "Daddy I hungie". So my darling Liberty came on her merrily little way out to my desk, hugged me and let me know she was hungry. I read a little bit more as I pulled her onto my lap, and then after I got done, turned off the illuminated screen. Scooting back, Libby was set down and decided she wanted to hold my hand. I laughed at this show of affection and let her walk me down into the kitchen. There, I placed her in her seat and got to work in making her a bowl of her favorite cereal : Cheerios. I myself had some of these, but that wasn't for me, it was for her. So if you hadn't guessed it, I ate a couple bites of hers, haha.
[7:00 a.m.]
For the next couple of hours, this time was occupied with me and Liberty watching some good ol quality programming on Playboy. LOL. No No, I'd NEVER subject a three year old to that garbage, specially my own daughter. But seriously, we watched the wholesome family entertainment of Nickelodeon. As Libby watched on with excitement, I could only help but wonder what the hell happened to the good ol shows of the past. Things like Salute Your Shorts, Double Dare, Roundhouse, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Doug....yet, I had to see stuff like Blue's Clues and Spongebob Squarepants. But hey, Liberty enjoyed herself, so the least I could do was try to enjoy myself along with her, even tho I was already enjoying being up with her. Despite not getting alot of sleep.
[9:00 a.m.]
This was about the time Melanie woke up. Or should I say, got woken up. Liberty decided that she wanted to go wake up her mom, so I headed in with her to play a game. Bless the child's heart, she tried along with me to try and shake the bed. I was having success of course (like with everything else in life) and Libby was trying to her hardest to help out. She kept telling me "Go Faster Daddy", I laughed at this and picked up the speed. Liberty called out for mom whom was trying to keep her composure, while in a Mike Tyson voice I called for Melanie. This made her laugh and then I went into a speech of how I would eat her children, or in this case child. My focus got turned to Liberty as I let her know what was coming. She laughed and ran as fast as her little legs would take her. Chasing her on my knees, I eventually caught up with her and begun to proceed with operation : ticklish girl.
[10:30 a.m.]
This was the time we spent as a family together to get a couple things ready before our flight took off early tomorrow morning. Better to jumpstart things now, rather than pay the price for being late on stuff, right? Liberty found herself playing with some blocks rather loudly, and I a couple of times had to ask her to play quieter. She assured me this would happen and then as I was about to finish talking with Melanie, she hauled off and playfully threw a yellow colored black at my chest. That cut me off and I slowly looked over at my daughter. She was laughing and welp, I laughed with her and had her go stand over in the corner. She hated that notion and proceeded to throw a fit. I got her to stop crying by saying that she wouldn't get her special surprise later if she didn't. From that point on, she behaved.
[12:30 p.m.]
Ok, this was the point in the day where the surprise would be revealed. Liberty didn't know the full extent of where she would be taken, and as for Melanie, she had NO CLUE as to what I was referring to. She nudged me and quietly asked "Where are we going." I winked at her, smiled and said "You'll see." I called over for Liberty to come to me. She came out looking excited because I let her know that it was time for the surprise I had planned for her. Liberty kept asking me what it was and when I told her (as well as Melanie), their eyes widened and Libby ran around franctically in excitement.
[1:10 p.m.]
The destination travel from Los Angeles to Anaheim was a short thirty four minute drive. The actual miles we traveled was about twenty six. Where did we go? Well to the happiest place on earth of course, DISNEYLAND. We had to scramble to look for a free parking spot, but we eventually found one. Then I paid for the tickets into the park and we took the monorail around. Finally, we walked into the park and as me and Melanie kept ahold of Libby's hands, oh my god, her excitement was a ten on the richter scale. We went around riding all of the rides she could get on about four times each (since we had to watch her of course). She got to take pictures with all of the characters who came out, her favorite being Ariel from The Little Mermaid (mine as well, haha). Then she got a little autograph book, in which each character she took a picture with, signed for her. Oh yeah, her day was completely made. The final piece to her happiness came when I bought her a pair of Minnie Mouse ears complete with her name in gold embroidered cursive lettering on the backside of things. She wore that all the way into her sleep, as she got tuckered out somewhere around the five and a half-six hour mark. We stuck around for the spectacular shows that Disneyland puts on, ya know, like the parade and stuff. So Liberty got woken up for that. But soon after into the nine o clock mark, we had to leave and depart back for home. All in all, it was a great trip for Libby.
[9:45 p.m.]
We finally reached home and I got the honor of carrying the sleeping Liberty inside the house and down into her room. Libby was dressed in a pink outfit with a picture of Hello Kitty on the front of her white shirt. I gently placed Liberty into her bed and quietly took her hat off. Libby had a red bow in her hair, so I opted to leave it in. There, me and Melanie stood and looked at our daughter, smiling knowing how lucky we were to have her in our life. As she laid there, sleeping peacefully..me and Mel retreated to our bedroom for a little bit of our fun...if you catch my drift.
[10:11 p.m.]
Shortly into the sexcapades, Liberty awoke to come in and groggily tell us that she loved me and her mom. LOL. Then she turned around and went back to bed. Oh man, thank god for her being so out of it. Not that it would have mattered, it's just sex. But lord, I love my little Liberty Bell.
