Tick Tock
When I woke from whatever type of sleep it was I found myself in, I had no choice but to rub my eyes, hoping to open my eyes for the second time in a different place than where I found myself the first time I opened them. It was a dark, damp, and slightly padded ten foot by ten foot by ten foot cube. The only lighting coming from a string of one hundred white Christmas lights that were hung in one of the corners to this room, this cell.
Immediately, like anyone would, I reacted in a way that would seem slightly psychotic, even though some would say that's how I had been acting lately. I got to my feet and started to move quickly towards the door. The only thing about moving towards the door was, there was none. Not to mention the fact that my left side quickly halted in movement as I ran from my corner.
Looking closer, I noticed a chain made up of several pairs of handcuffs that chained me to the floor, as it looked like the last pair or two of cuffs were set into the concrete of the cell floor. Sitting there, still coming to, I glance around the room, looking for anything that may explain my predicament. 'What the Hell is going on here?' I asked out loud.
Still sitting there in the quite with a blank stare plastered all over my face and still confused as I've ever been, the first noise, minus my own voice, was heard. It was like the static you hear after recording onto a cassette tape. Looking around the cube for the source I noticed a small speaker in the corner above where I was chained.
The static continued for quite some time, what seemed like forever to me, being chained up inside of this small room. Just when I was about to give up on the sound, a voice was then heard. No ordinary voice, but one that sounded tampered with, I wasn't listening to the real voice of this sick individual. 'How's it going Justin? I see you've finally decided to stop napping, and maybe start playing. Right now I'm guessing you have thoughts running through your head on why you are here. That's not important, what is important, and what I want you to know about me, is that you shouldn't care why you are here, but instead, you should know that I want to see you escape.'
'You sick freak! What are you doing with me?' I yelled out, not knowing if the guy would even hear me or not.
There were a few more moments of static before the voice returned. 'Now I know of your profession, your girl, your problems, and I fully intend to make you see all of those, as they were meant to be seen before you leave this room for good. Inside these four walls are the clues to your escape, each one safely hidden so you have to work to get to them, one at a time. As you see, your first task has already been given, but I'm not going to repeat what you should already know.' He finished up his statement as the static returned.
My outrage would not stop, as it would seem a fight for my life would begin. 'You're sick! You're sick! You just expect me to sit here and rot?!' I exclaimed.
Once more, the static rolled through the lone speaker, leaving me to sit there and wait for the bastard to speak once more. 'Don't worry Justin; I'm not going to just let you die in here, yet. And because I know how important your wrestling is to you, I'm going to allow you to wrestle each week. But much like right now, you will wake up, back here, in the same state you left in. I will take you to the Pure Class Arena, and I will bring you back. Don't try to run from me either; it won't do you any good.' He explained to me. 'Also, your girl, Lindsay, the fine young woman that she is, she is well taken care of, don't worry about her. You'll see her every week too. You can actually call it part of your healing, part of this riddle, part of the situation you got yourself into. You may think your opponent for the week is the biggest thing you should worry about, which it may be, but if you and Lindsay are to have a future together, you better start worrying about getting out of here for good first.' The static returned.
'Why?! Why?! Why?!' I begged and pleaded, asking why a man would do this to me.
After the shortest of the waits while listening to static, the man was about to finish. 'Time is ticking Justin, if you want to have your life back before you and Grimm wrestle for the PCW World Championship, you better stop using your money and your strength to your advantage, and start using your heart, your mind, and your soul. Tick tock Justin, tick tock.' He finished.
The static in the speakers ceased, and tears began to form in my eyes. This was the first time this had happened to me in some time, but I quickly stopped myself. I didn't have time for this, I needed to get out of here quick, and I was about to follow the advice given to me by a man who could hardly even think for himself anymore, but I needed to do whatever I could to get out of here, find out who assaulted me and Lindsay, and get back on top of my life. Tick tock was right. What the Hell was I going to do?
