I woke up in the middle of the night. My eyes are tired; I’m so used to how it feels. The tingling sensation behind this mask of a face, As if I’ve just been punched That’s how I know I’m gonna spill. Looking at your pictures And imagining what might have been, Knowing it will never be. What was it you said to me? Oh yes, I remember now. It was “Don’t give up” And “I’ll be there No matter where Tomorrow goes.” But you’re not here. You only listen because you said you would, And not because you care. Why would you? Silly me. I’m such a dope For needing peace. For needing you. For falling in And every other goddamn thing. Oh look, Just look at the mistakes I’ve made Piled up. They stain the floor. Don’t say “I’ll be there” anymore Because you’re not.
