Awesome, man. Gad, that was a messed up movie. I felt like the whole point was to force people to attempt to make sense of it, sort of like how Twin Peaks did. It’s one thing to make a nonsensical film, but another to make a nonsensical film that feels like I should be able to figure it out (David Lynch was very good at that). I'd try to present my own hypothesis, but I'm sure it's as off-base as everybody else's and that by itself is cool.

I rather enjoyed the flick myself, but yes, it was kind of a cluster-fuck for the entire film. My initial thoughts for what was going on had to do with some "rift" into an alternate reality. While my theory was semi correct, it turned out to be the time travel tornado causing the infinite loop of events over the course of one months time, or there about. That is, until Donnie chose to stay in bed rather than get out and forcing the time loop through its course yet again.
I literally bought this movie about 5 years ago after hearing a couple people mind rape each other over the possibilities of what was going on in this movie (turns out they must not have paid very good attention while watching it), and have only actually watched it once. Right this second, I'm not even so sure it wasn't one of the movies that got jacked from after the break up of me and my ex a year and a half ago.
If it's still there, I may have to watch it again sometime soon... Actually, no; I NEED to watch it again sometime soon.

Oh what the heck.
I felt the whole thing was about the bubble that very intelligent and/or creative people find themselves in. Once someone reaches a certain point on either scale, they don't think the same way other people do. Whether the events in the movie were real or imaginary is beside the point. It was sort of like a dark Calvin and Hobbes setup.

I like this movie, despite not having a clue what it's about.
