Brandon didn’t stop to consider the consequences of his actions. With a bestial roar and brute strength he kicked open the door that lay in front of him. The man beyond the door, clad in a Luchadors mask, Spiderman Tshirt, Batman boots, and oddly enough a Wonder Woman skirt, uttered a short, choked off yelp of surprise. Nacho regained his composure quickly enough as he ducked under Brandon’s fist.
“What the hell, man!” Nacho cried out in anger.
From a crouch, he planted his hands on Brandon’s chest and shoved him away. Brandon stumbled backwards a few steps. Standing again, Nacho looked over at the dent that Brandon had left in his locker.
“Jesus, Loki. We’ve had our differences, man, but this is taking your crazy to a whole new level,” Nacho quipped.
Brandon clearly wasn’t amused, “You want to talk about crossing lines, Nacho? How about last week when you defaced my locker room? How about your little message the week before that cost me match with Shinryu? How’s that for crossing lines. I’m only going to tell you once, stay the fuck out of my business.”
Nacho stared at him incredulously, “Okay, you’ve got two things very wrong with your big conspiracy theory. One, there aren’t any comic book, nerd, or sci-fi references of any kind in that. I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not but quoting the bible isn’t exactly my thing, although I can think of a person or two who would do something like that. And two, sending little love notes isn’t exactly how I operate. We used to be friends once, you should know that.”
Nacho’s eyes narrowed, “And as far as your business, well let’s just say that your business is mine. You made it mine when you turned your back on everything we stood for. You used to be one of the good guys, Loki. You used to stand up for guys like me. And I respected that, I respected you. Do you even know why you did what you did?”
Brandon started to speak. He’d done it because it had needed to be done. He’d done it because Whisper had convinced him it was the right thing to do. But had it needed to be done? Had it been the right thing to do? He started to speak again, but again he stopped himself.
“You don’t even know why you did it, do you?” Nacho asked, “I knew you had problems, Loki, who doesn’t in this screwed up business. But even so, you should know why you made the decision to turn your back on your friends. For the longest time I was angry about it, livid even. But now, I think I just pity you.”
Brandon regarded him for a moment, not knowing what to think. With a noise of disgust he turned and left. He didn’t need, nor did he want Nacho’s pity. He stalked back to his own locker room with his head full of more questions than had been answered. If it wasn’t Nacho then who was it? The only two people he knew that fit the religious motif were Murdoc or Pegasus and no one had seen or heard from them in months. Could it really be one of them? Or was it all just Nacho messing with his head, sending him off the chase shadows?
