Character Name: "Mr. Showtime" Michael Wryght
Character Age and/or D.O.B.: 04/14/1980
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 253 lbs
Manager: Perfection
Hometown: Brick, New Jersey
Biography:
Pre-Wrestling
Wryght grew up in a beach town in New Jersey; where he was raised in a low income single family household. Throughout his upbringing his mother drove home the importance of education and dedication to what you love. He later earned both an academic and athletic scholarship to Rowan University. On the night of his graduation he took a fated trip to Atlantic City with little over a thousand dollars. In a fantastic stroke of luck he turned his only savings into a small fortune. Through some sound financial advice and perhaps more luck he turned his small fortune into massive gains. With money no longer an issue, Showtime turned to his first love, Professional Wrestling.
Wrestling
When he began he wrestled under the moniker of Pest, which started out relatively rocky. He bounced around the independent circuits in the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania areas with little to no success. A longtime friend (Iceberg) was able to get him a contract with a national promotion called the bWo. The bWo was not friendly to Pest (Wryght). He was paired with a fool named Lightning, who was all style and no skill. Though they did had a brief run as Tag Champions, Wryght considered this time an utter failure.
After bWo shut its doors for good, Wryght bounced around a few federations until he called it quits and took a job as a talent scout. This decision was probably the best thing that ever happened to Wryght. On a trip to Mexico he met a great wrestler named Chameleon. The two traveled back to the states and were recruited to a federation called EWEF, front lined by his old friend Iceberg. On opening night Pest (Wryght was able to capture the IC title in a massive title Battle Royale. At this time Pest, Iceberg and Chameleon formed the stable known as “The Best.”
Iceberg and Pest became names that the fans truly loved and Pest became a great fan favorite. In a world title match between Iceberg and King, Iceberg severely blew out his knee and lost the World Title. Pest, which by now the fans had dubbed "Mr. Showtime", went on to challenge King to avenge his friend. In this epic showdown he went on to win his first World Title.
Now that Showtime had tasted success he never looked back. The majority of his career was spent with a similar cast of wrestlers in EKW, SWF & AWA. In these federations Showtime would have some of his most epic feuds with Arkham (aka Phinehas Grimm), Billy Sadistic and others, and reform “The Best” with Chameleon, Donny J. McNasty, and the Outlawz (Nick Soapdish and Akira D). In EKW, Showtime held the US Title and was the last the EKW Title After the fed closed down he was going to retire happy with his career, but after a call from the ex-owner of EKW, he heard of a fed called SWF where he is currently in the Hall of Fame. He went on to hold the SWF Title four times but he snapped here for the first time ever and became a heel.
Being as connected as he is, a different old friend, Luis Malave, invited Showtime to join Pure Class Wrestling. For a few years Showtime found some success capturing the Tag Team Titles & International Title. After reigniting his long time feud with Phinehas Grimm and coming up short against Lantlas in a IN/World Title unification match, Showtime decided it was time to take some time off. The stress of traveling and torture to his body had taken its toll on him.
After some time off Showtime stayed in his home state and joined a federation called, Garden State Wrestling Alliance where he became the longest reigning Tri-City Champion and later GSWA Champion. In an intense match Showtime blew out his shoulder and decided that he had done everything that he wanted to in the wrestling business.
As he was making his way into Hollywood, Showtime had a last hurrah in the IRITE tournament, run my Luis Malave, where he came in second place.
Known Federations: bWo, KWF, EWEF, EKW, SWF, AWA, PCW & GSWA
Hollywood/Movies
After his wrestling career ended he decided to take his star level to the next tier. He helped finance and starred in a movie named “The Enemy Within.” Though his acting needed some work, the movies script was phenomenal and it went on to win the Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic. He honed his skill with a few small roles here, and some extensive classes with some of the best acting teachers money could buy. Wryght’ breakout was when he landed the role of Phil Lombard in the movie “And Then There Were None.” This film included Harrison Ford, Scarlett Johansson, and Leonardo DiCaprio. With this role he won the Oscar for best supporting character, which he give all of the credit to his costars for making him look so good. His last notable role was the mega blockbuster directed by James Cameron titled; “A World Beyond.”
Noteable Roles: Jake Taylor (The Enemy Within), Phil Lombard (And Then There Were None) & Will Sweeney (A World Beyond)
Wresting Part 2
In a surprise to the wrestling world, Showtime returned to the business that gave him his first taste of the spotlight. He bought a minority share of Pure Class Wrestling and came in with a bang. Though his actually wrestling took a back seat to him taking over as PCW president, he made a big splash. He made the changes to PCW that were in dire need. Once PCW Majority Share Holder, Luis Malave, gave Wryght the condition that he could never be World Champion as long as he held stake in the company, he quickly sold his share to Skylar Marshall. This allows Showtime to focus on his return to the ring, rather than pushing papers.
