I'm pretty sure that picture of Galactus is from the Marvel Masterpieces trading card series, which was a super cool thing when I was a kid. In many ways it was my first introduction to the Marvel Universe. There was a 25 cent card dispenser at the Boys and Girls Club. One time I got a Holographic Wolverine card. He was my favorite back then as he basically is now, so when everyone in the place pooled their money and offered me close to a hundred bucks to buy it (not sure how they would have determined ownership) I totally said no. In hindsight, I coulda bought a LOT more cards. Although that Wolverine card is still mine, even though I don't know where it is. Actually, I just searched for a couple seconds and am looking at it right now. It's still pretty cool and still in a hard plastic case even though it's not quite mint condish. I found it next to my holographic Kobe Bryant rookie card from right after he was drafted to LA, which IS in mint condition and in a sealed plastic case, no less. Once he retires I'ma try to sell it. It might not get me as much as that Wolverine card would have, though...
Anyway, before that tirade through my childhood memories I totally voted for Galactus. Because if you're responsible for the existence of a being like Silver Surfer, with the initial intention of making that powerful mah-fah your harbinger-bitch, you're pretty bad ass.

Still, with these brackets, it's turned into "Who's Stronger" rather than "who's more villainous." Galactus just eats planets because that's what he does. He's not trying to be evil; he's just fucking hungry.

That's a good point, Whitey. It's not like he comes up with some ingenious plan to bend the world to his will or orchestrates fear to gain his goals. He shows up, sets the table, and people start screaming. This is why I'd vote for, say, Joker over Galactus. He'll go to any length and often beyond his own personal power to achieve his twisted vision.
But then, by that same token, it may not be who is stronger but more or less who is a greater threat. The measure of villainy is what you threaten in a lot of ways. There are serial killers who plot and abduct and desecrate, for all intents and purposes as twisted as they come (and that goes for the ones we're aware of), yet it's rare they're mentioned in the same breath as Hitler. Hitler is, as far as I can tell, considered the greatest real-life villain for the fact that he basically threatened the way of life on the entire planet, or at least most of it. The scale of the war was the truly scary part to go along with his crazy. The killing and the camps go without saying.
Galactus, on his own fictional terms, threatens life for all planets, period. I'm no Brainiac buff but I don't think he can hold a candle to that. Sure, this IS a product of his overblown strength, but as you said, that's what he does. It's who he is. Kind of like I said in the Apocalypse thread, what makes or breaks a character like this is the writing---the way they're overcome when the heroes inevitably win the day.

your right, braniac only plans to digitise all the knowledge of every planet in the universe and destroy said plants as he goes, because then they'd be redundent... he's not a galaxtic thread at all!
