Pure Class Wrestling moves into the new year with a slew of changes ranging from the Icey Awards, the reorganization of PCW’s authority structure, roster developments, and the upcoming Pay-Per-View Hostile Takeover 4. Also leaked are hints that an exclusive interview featuring at least one prominent former holder of Pure Class Wrestling gold!
The Icey Awards saw the inauguration of The UnHoly Alliance into the Pure Class Wrestling Hall of Fame, the official resignation of 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕻𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖎𝖘𝖊𝖉 𝕰𝖓𝖉, the firing of Skylar Marshall, and the institution of A Ghost in the Wind and Isabella Alexis as the two new figureheads of PCW. While it remains to be seen how these changes will effect the management of PCW, there are those who would argue it can only be an improvement over Skylar Marshall’s increasingly pathological need to run the business into the ground under his heel. (I, for one, welcome our new sports entertainment overlords.)
Roster changes abound over the past few months, with names like @silas, @tristan, @eddie, and Dillon Durst falling from the listings of active competitors. Flash-in-the-pan recruits @mephisto and Jonathan Thomas Cross remain silent after their intial, promising overtures - in addition to Stace Matthews’s conspicuous absence from the Tag Team circuit after signing on months ago. Beloved fan favorite, PCW veteran and Hall of Famer Ace Anderson has been removed from the roster of current talent following his injury at the hands of MONROE during Deadly Intentions 4 - sources close to the man insist he will remain involved in PCW but it is as yet unknown as to what extent that may be. But! All is not lost for the temporarily downsized roster of Pure Class Wrestling. New talent “The Amazing One" @maize shows promise and a refreshing eagerness to begin, while the darker themed @damiandarklust’s debut awaits the completion of his final stages of sign-on paperwork.
Speculation is rampant as to the outcome of Hostile Takeover 4, with several large matches mapped out for the evening. First up is a four way match to determine the #1 contender for the Genesis title, featuring Tyrone "Crazy Boy" Smith, Arica “trouble” Lewitt, and Cory Steel. These three talents have been circling each other in the Genesis bracket for months now, with Arica giving the other names some serious “Trouble” over the past cycle. Newcomer Maize has been booked as well, giving him an excellent opportunity upon his debut to show just how a-maize-ing “The Amazing One” really is (no, I don’t think that joke is ever going to get old) by securing the #1 contender position.
Next up we have Rick Majors vs Non Compos Mentis. The history between the two continues to develop and muddy, and this respondent is hard pressed to suggest which of the two might be walking further the wrong side of sanity. The rapid devolution of Rick Majors’ mental state has been a cause for concern among his fed-mates where NCM’s fall from the lauded Sean Rhodes seems to have the PCW Faithful more worried about his Hobo Horde than the man himself. As per company policy, both men have been on the receiving end of a cursory psychological evaluation and have been deemed fit to compete. Who will come out on top of the first singles match of the evening?
Match Three is the Genesis title match. It features the once accepted, now malevolently eccentric Nathan Saniti pitted up against PCW’s sweetheart, voted Most Loved at the recent Icey Awards: Kelli “Dollface” Starr. While Kelli is the current holder of the Genesis title, she hasn’t had a record of clean defenses that one might expect from the former North American title holder, and it will be interesting to see if she can maintain her streak with this current match. Former denizen of the Genesis bracket, Q, still appears to be missing after a nasty (and unexplainable) run in with Nathan Saniti. While no one seems clear on the true nature of the relationship between “Dollface” and the Single Letter Superstar, it remains an undeniable fact that both Saniti and Starr have a grudge to settle at this match.
The fourth match of Hostile Takeover 4 was listed as a Tag Team championship match...but what about Skylar Marshall’s decision at Deadly Intentions 4 to remove the Tag Team bracket altogether? This match sees reigning tag champs The Flying Freebooters pitted against The Citizen and the “Simply Stunning" Sebastian St. Paul. A representative of The New Breed Foundation was contacted for a statement as to the absence of Johnathan “The Beast” Cable, but our source would only remind us of Cable’s previous coma state while refusing to divulge his current medical condition, citing an aggressive nondisclosure agreement. Recent inaugurals to the Pure Class Wrestling Hall of Fame Tha UnHoly Alliance are scheduled to appear as well for the retirement of PCW’s Tag Team bracket; however one must wonder what that retirement will that mean to new contract sign-ons The Iron Titans.
The Double Ladder match (one of the first in archived PCW history) is arguably the most intense match of the evening, setting four men against each other in a savage battle for both the International AND the North American/British Commonwealth Championships. Savage is indeed the word for such an event, pitting veteran heavies Grimm and masked-man of the recently dissolved Untouchables Murdoc against each other in addition to several-time title holder (and certainly no greenhorn himself) Michael “Mr. Showtime” Wryght and the former British Commonwealth championship holder “The British Lion” Tyler Scott. The rules of the match dictate that the first entrant to secure a belt is crowned that champion! However, a check is in place to balance the match; once a competitor has secured a title, they are no longer eligible for any title that may remain in play! So who will survive? Who will win? Who will be disappointed, and who might be destroyed? It’s no secret that some of the most powerful talents in PCW are going to battle it out for these titles - it only remains to be seen just how brutal the match will be.
Now for the main event, we see another fan favorite in Andy D facing off against former Untouchable Eira for no less than Pure Class Wrestling’s World Championship belt itself! Andy D. scrambled the title out from under its previous holder on Grimm’s first defense of the belt, defying speculation and proving just how explosive the superstar can be under pressure. Eira, on the other hand, is facing her first non-Genesis title shot courtesy of winning the Deadly Rumble at Deadly Intentions 4 a few months prior. Andy D. and Eira are no strangers to each other, having danced around the Genesis circuit during her first run in Pure Class Wrestling, neither seeming able to hold a solid set of wins over the other competitor’s head. Regardless of who wins the big gold to become PCW’s new World Champion, we can be sure we’ll be treated to an incredible show of athleticism from two of the fastest, most high-flying performers Pure Class Wrestling has to offer.
While this respondent has heard rumors around the water cooler of returning talent, readers will have to wait til the next installment to see which of their favorite superstars might be returning to Pure Class Wrestling!
This is Kai Walters, signing off.
