The OOC Awards
PCW MVP: Rick (Rick Majors) with 62% of the vote
Rick Majors had very big shoes to fill as Director of Wrestling Operations, as the man he replaced is a four-time PCW MVP, but since taking over as DWO, Rick has shown just how effective at running the show he is.
Since taking over the role, Rick has maintained a schedule of posting the results, which has helped everyone become organized, and has really helped drive the rest of the creative team in following that schedule. And yet results are still awesome. Rick deserves this award and, while this is his first MVP Award, I can see much more to come. Thank you, Rick.
The runner-up was Luis, who received 25% of the votes, and rounding out third was Kris, who received the remaining 13%.
Past winners include: Luis {3x}; Josh as “Hank”; Rick Ellis {2x}; Shannon {4x}
Best Feedback Provider: Josh (Sadistic) with 69%
Take it away, Kris...
Sure he doesn't provide feedback every time, but NO ONE does. Josh is the most consistent and often offers the most thorough feedback of any active member of the fed.”
This is true, and this is why he wins this award. For the second time.
Nate is the runner-up, with 18% of the votes, and the bronze goes to Alex, who received the remaining 13%.
Past winners include: Josh
Best Newcomer: Tony (@light) with 59%
Some have commented on the fact that a lot of the nominees for this award are no longer with PCW, but Tony deserves this award; The man once known as LIGHT (and now known as Kincaid) has silently been picking up steam as a respected and important member of the PCW Forums, from both an In-Character and an Out-of-Character perspective. Currently on leave, we can only hope his return is just as memorable as his forum debut.
The runner-up with 24% was Dan, who handled Kristoff Michaelson and is no longer active in the promotion. And in third with 17% of the vote is James; James has been active In-Character as Bubba but relatively quiet on the OOC side.
Past winners include: Tom; Brittany; Stacy; Chris
Best Wrestler Gimmick: Nathan Saniti (Dan) with 62%
And back to Kris...
“An Agent of Karma with psychedelic hat pins, a fluid sense of reality, and the ability to tell the laws of physics to sit down and shut up. It's going to take some serious doing for any other character to get vote(s) so long as Nathan Saniti is a part of PCW.”
Very nicely said.
The runners-up to this award were Saniti's unStablemate The Joka, who nabbed 25% of the vote, and current International Champion and Saniti's love interest Kelli “Dollface” Starr, who snagged the remaining 13%.
Past winners include: High Tide; Puro Power; Areas; Q; NCM; Nathan Saniti; Derek Cosmos
Handlers with Best "Ring Chemistry": Nate, Mike, & Josh (Sadistic; Mr. Showtime; Grimm) with 50%
Handlers have come and gone throughout PCW history but one thing that has remained pretty consistent is the chemistry that Nate, Josh, and Mike have had. And it shows, as Nate and Mike have won this award 4 out of the 5 times it's been given, and this is Josh's 2nd consecutive one with the guys.
But if you think about it, that's really the reason they have that chemistry; For what has to be over a decade, these three have handled with and against each other throughout multiple promotions, but specifically PCW. Whenever these three get together, you can be sure there will be quality production on both the OOC side and the IC side from them all.
The runners-up were Kris & Josh with 25% and Dan & Kris with 19%..
Past winners include: Mike & Nate {2x}; Shannon & Dan; Nate, Mike, & Josh
Most Innovative Writer: Dan (Nathan Saniti) with 38%
in·no·va·tion; [noun]; \ˌi-nə-ˈvā-shən\:
1. a new idea, device, or method
2. the act or process of introducing new ideas, devices, or methods.
Dan, for the third time in his PCW writing career, wins the Most Innovative Icey Award. As Kris would say...
In addition to his character gimmick, Dan's artistry with wordplay creates engaging pieces that often contain double and triple meanings behind any given sentence. Not everyone "gets" his work, which is a damn shame but also part of the appeal. Between his alternate reality sprees, mastery of allegory and metaphor... [PCW] find(s) him to be the single most innovative e-fedder (if not writer)...
The runners-up to this award were Kris and Josh, receiving a very respectable 31% each.
Past winners include: Mike; Shannon; Q; Tyler Scott; Dan {2x}
Most Improved Roleplayer: Dan (Tyrone "Crazy Boy" Smith) with 40%
The first Dan we've ever had in PCW wins the Most Improved Roleyplayer for the second time in his PCW career (the first time being all the way back at the end of 2011). While Dan wins this award, I feel like there is so much more potential in his writing that, with just a little more work, he could become a PCW champion again. Maybe his teaming with Simon (Alexa Black) (who also received 14% of the vote) as Crazy Power will bring his writing over that hurdle.
The runner-ups to this award were Jesse, who received 26% of the vote and who I for sure was going to win this for the mind-boggling fourth time, and Alex, who received 20% of the votes.
Past winners include: J. Hicken; Rick; AD; Roy; Dan; Mike; Q; Dan; Jesse {3x}
Most Underrated: Justin (Stormm) with 65%
The original PCW Justin wins the Most Underrated Icey for the first time in his PCW career; It can't be because Justin has fallen off the map or anything, as he's been sitting pretty in the upper-midcard for years now, but maybe that's just it- maybe it's time Justin spread his wings and regain one of the main event spots that he has had in the past.
Or maybe it's because he hasn't really been focusing on going after the “big belts” like the World or International Championship in quite some time. Or maybe it's because Justin stopped telling people how good he could be and started showing people, earning their respect and adulation. Whatever the reason is, Management knows Justin brings the good, and we hope he continues to cultivate his writing talent while we find ways of bringing him back up the card like he deserves.
The runner-ups were Jesse, who received 18% of the vote, and Frank, who received 12% of the vote.
Past winners include: Jimmy; Mike; Kris; AD; Rick Majors; Dan; Alex
Most Reliable Handler: Nate (Grimm) with 56%
Nate's like the post office, no matter the situation, you can always expect him to deliver when he says he would. Even better than the post office, Nate even delivers on Sundays! And for that, we are extremely thankful.
The runner-ups were Alex with 31% and Simon with 13%.
Past winners include: Shannon; Rick Ellis {2x}; Drew; AD {2x}; Nate; Alex {2x}
Biggest Post-Whore: Simon (Alexa Black) with 75%
Seriously, I don't think anyone will dislodge Simon from this spot for as long as he's here. He's arguably the most active handler in PCW today and continues to increase his post count by playing the forum games that promote activity. Simon, in just 14 months, earned the board title of “PCW Legend” (which not even Andy D has earned and he's been here since 2006), sits at the #12 spot for post count, and I doubt he has any plans to give up his Post-Whore mantle. Is there ANYONE who can out post-whore this whore? This is Simon's second-consecutive time winning this award.
The runner-up was Luis (me!), with 25% of the vote..
Past winners include: Gerrid; Chrissy; Justin; Luis; Drew; M. Park; Rick Ellis; Tom; Dustin {2x}; Kris; Simon
Best Roleplayer: Josh (Sadistic) with 41%
This is Josh's second-consecutive time winning this award. Let's go to Kris for this one:
The offline version of Josh is so different from William "Billy Sadistic" Dillinger it's actually kind of scary. I'm never sure if Sadistic is just a character he's created, or if Sadistic is the avatar of all Josh's inner darkness; whatever the case his roleplaying is top notch owing to character and handler being almost diametrically opposed. Whether Sadistic is Josh's demons come out to play is something we'll all have to guess at until if he's in the news for a cannibalistic serial killing spree.
The runners-up to this award were Alex, with 29% and Rick Ellis with 18%. And speaking of Kris, she received the remaining 12%.
Past winners include: Shannon; Alex; Nate {7x}; AD; Dustin; Josh
Most Respected Handler(s): Josh (Sadistic) & Nate (Grimm) with 32% each
Picking up his fourth Icey this edition is Josh, while Nate picks up his third, the duo shares their second award at Iceys 12; This time, for Most Respected Handlers. Nate and Josh are two of the most laid back handlers we have in PCW and always bring a manner of poise and conflict-resolution when they engage on the forums. You'd have to think, though, that if Josh didn't bring in Buck Brochamp, if he would have won this award on his own. Perhaps not though, as Nate is still the man.
The runners-up were Kris with 25% of the vote and Rick Ellis with the remaining 11%.
Past winners include: Barb; Jacob; Roy; Alex {2x}; Rick; Nate {2x}; Drew; Josh
OOC Hall of Fame: Kris (Eira)
I almost thought Dustin was going to win this award because of his inactive status, but Kris received JUST enough votes to edge him out of the Hall of Fame. Maybe next time, Duddy. On a serious note, Kris is arguably the busiest person in PCW, both online and off, and truly earned her spot as a PCW OOC Hall of Famer.
Kris is a vital part of our creative team, usually writing one or two matches per show, is one of the first people you'll hear from when you join the forums with her welcome messages, handles the majority of the postings on our social media pages, participates in forum banter regularly, provides feedback (especially when requested), participates in banner battles, roleplays successfully as two separate characters, and will even join the chat room from time to time.
While she may not have earned MVP to a very deserving Rick Majors, she definitely earned and deserves to be apart of the PCW OOC Hall of Fame!
The runner-up was Dustin with 31% of the vote, with AD & Dan earning 13% each, and Johnny receiving the remaining 5%.
Past winners include: Alex; Jacob; Andrew; Rick; Tom; Shannon; Nate; Luis; Justin; Josh; Mike
As an aside, going forward, we will be alternating between IC and OOC Hall of Fame inductions, so as to limit the amount of Hall of Famers. Next edition of The Iceys, we will be doing the OOC Hall of Fame, but not the IC, and then The Iceys following that, we'll be inducting an IC Hall of Famer, but not an OOC one.
