Family was messy business. You fight, get beat up, make up, and fight again. It’s a vicious cycle. “Mr. Showtime” Michael Wryght didn’t know when it happened, but William Dillinger had become a brother to him. He was still furious at that selfish son of a bitch, but the cycle was destined to continue. They had a friendship that stretched back decades, and a rivalry that went back even further.
Somewhere down the line the same had happened with Phinehas Grimm. A history documented in the annals of time. The legendary rivalry never included a friendship. This history didn’t include competition for the sake of competition. These two men had blood feud that would make the Hatfields and McCoys jealous. It wasn’t until something bigger than either’s ego would bring them together.
The strangest fact was that the longest history he had was owned by Justin Stormm. Their direct contact was comparatively short, but it was Wryght’s father that started this relationship. At his birth Showtime was destined to meet the Force of Nature, and be Justin’s obstacle to enter the fold of The Black Hand. Their encounters would be significantly less then the others, but not any less fierce. Even though Justin was their newest member the bond he was forging would last a lifetime.
Together they were the four-headed leader of the Army of Destruction. If they wanted this responsibility didn’t matter. They were destined for this role and they would have to see it through be it hell or high water.
Showtime had finally returned to New Jersey. He needed a break from the road and it was already beginning to wear on him. At least while he traveled the country as a wrestler he could turn it off when not in the ring. Now there was no turning it off. Every eye in America was on him now. He wasn’t drawing the same attention as the Republican Debates, but it was starting to grow.
When he entered his home for some much needed relaxation he was hit with his rude reality. There was no downtime any longer. Just more rigor and research. He had a long way to go before he was prepared for the Presidency, and didn’t have nearly enough time. Despite that, he decided that he needed to get away at least for a little while.
He wound up at a place that had become sacred to him. The Jersey shore was known for its boardwalks and few as famous as the one which resided in Pt. Pleasant. As a child he grew up here and it was always here when he needed it. The tourist season had passed and the few residents that still walked the planks took no notice to the others slowly plodding along.
The salty air helped clear Showtime’s mind, something that had been damn near impossible the past year or so. He reflected on his new family and the old. Members he’d shunned and others he hated to love. It pained him to think that this week he’d need to face off against two people meant to be family. Kelli Starr was meant to be a member of The Black Hand, but she couldn’t see through her punishment.
Showtime’s punishment was losing his self; the most important thing to him at the time. It was everything to him, and now he was thankful that he wasn’t still that same vain bastard any longer. Sadistic would vanish and not even Showtime knew what happened to the elder Dillinger, but he’d been changed. Phinehas had given himself to the sages and must carry on messy business. While Justin had to fear for the very existence of his newborn twins.
All Kelli needed to do was let go of the man she cared for. Some wicked wizard of a man that would surely be her downfall. The Black Hand was to be her salvation, and now it seemed as if it were to be her doom. Showtime felt true pity on the foolish girl. She didn’t deserve what was set in front of her. He even planned to keep his promise to repay her for her past favors. He actually though he might be the light to Sadistic’s dark that kept her on the path of the righteous. It was truly too bad.
Kaard was another person that seemed to be destined to be family. Not with the Black Hand, but with a family all since lost. Marshall’s Law was Showtime’s brainchild when he returned to the ring. He hand selected a group of the very best. He chose the Seamen for their prowess in tag team wrestling. Just their association made them number one contenders without even having to try. Showtime brought back the Tag Title just so they could win them. He helped turn Whitey Ford into the superstar that took PCW by storm. He saw the potential in Ford before anyone else, and the aftermath makes that point almost completely forgettable. He wanted to do the same for Kaard. He wanted Kaard to see that the greater good was more important than personal gain. But Kaard was a fool of a child. He misunderstood guidance for jealously and completely tore Marshall’s Law apart. He divided them and ultimately destroyed them. From dominance to destruction.
It was then that Showtime realized that Kaard and Saniti were directly responsible for taking those he should be willing to die for from him. The wave of fury was startling. Showtime didn’t realize how much these people might have meant to him. Ford might still be here and Tide and Wasp might be allies instead of distant strangers. Kelli’s fate wouldn’t be sealed and he future would be bright. Instead they were all gone. It was something that Showtime knew couldn’t go unpunished.
Now their fates were sealed. Showtime realized that he actually hated both men, and if he couldn’t be the one that saved Kelli, then he’d be the one to put her down. Maybe it was the stress of the world coming down on Showtime, but he was ready for the sweet taste of revenge.
