“Fuck this shit, I quit!”
”No you don’t. You just think you do.”
”What part of I QUIT do you not understand?”
”I”
”I? You don’t understand that?”
”No, because you aren’t going to quit.”
”Listen here you son of a bitch, who the fuck are YOU, to tell ME, what I will and won’t be doing?!”
”Because you won’t do what you think you will be. You say you quit, but you won’t.”
”I don’t belong in an Underground title match. I’m a tag team specialist, god dammit!”
”It’s a tornado tag match…”
”For the UNDERGROUND title! You know what that means?? Anything goes. I don’t have any interest in winning that title. I…”
”You just said it. Anything goes. Unleash anarchy and take the gold away from its proud champion.”
Willard paused in thought. This was an opportunity to finally dish out punishment that rules generally would disqualify him for. But there was also the Deadly Rumble to consider later that night…a chance to either win an opportunity for the World title or multiple chances to ruin the hopes of others.
”No. This is tailor made for people like Judge. He does the title justice. Alexa Black and Crazy Boy would be better than us for this sort of thing. I’m not young anymore. Fifteen years ago, this would have been a walk in the park.” He continued “Besides. What IF I did win? I would be forced to wrestle these kinds of ultra violent matches until I lost the title.”
”What exactly is the problem?”
”Uh, I don’t want to end up in the fucking hospital! The last time I had to be in one, was when Destiny gave birth to the twins. I’m more afraid of what she can do, than any punishment Team Lobotomy or The Sea Men can dole out.”
”You’re afraid of your wife?”
Willard cracked a laugh, albeit one with nervousness behind it. He attempted to shrug it off the best he could and regain his composure.
”Of…of course I’m not! Much…”
”Why?”
”Why what?”
”Why are you afraid of her? She isn’t in the match, so you don’t have a reason to quit.”
”She birthed four children. You don’t think she’s tough as nails? Kristen thinks her boyfriend has to worry about me. But he should fear her mom.”
”Like you do?”
”I love Destiny. I also know everything about her, and if people think I’m bad…they have no idea what she’s capable of…”
”Just like you’re capable of winning the Underground title.”
”Babe, who are you talking to?”
Willard spun around to see his wife standing nearby, looking confused by her husband’s activity. Especially given that there wasn’t anyone inside the twin’s bedroom. Only stuffed animals and scattered toys.
”Mr. Whiskers. The idiot was telling me I wouldn’t forgo my upcoming match, regardless of how I felt about it.”
”You’re talking to a stuffed rabbit…?”
Mr. Whiskers was Nancy’s plush rabbit and what she loved sleeping with at night. It’s big, wide white eyes and toothy grin, served as the audience to which Willard spoke, and gave a voice to. Destiny looked at him, then the rabbit and back to her husband.
”Uh huh. I see. And, what exactly did it tell you?”
”Win the Underground title. Destiny, I hate it. I don’t want anything to do with the division, much less risk injury in attempting to win the belt. Loco and myself have no business in that environment. It HAS to be a booking error.”
Destiny offered no reaction. In fact, her expression was blank.
”What is it I’m capable of, Jason?”
Uh oh. Willard stood up and looked around what could be his tomb, if he didn’t have a good answer for this. He wasn’t very quiet in his conversation it seems like, and Destiny had apparently heard every single word he said.
”Having children?”
Destiny tilted her head ever so slightly to the side, her eyes narrowing at that crack. It was meant as a joke from him, but it was horribly timed and not found very amusing by its intended target. Destiny shifted her head back up and advanced on her husband, backing him onto Nancy's bed and forcing him to sit. Destiny leaned down so that she was next to Willard’s ear, her hands finding themselves on his thighs.
”Are you afraid now?” Destiny whispered “You should…n’t be. I love you after all. I would never, ever hurt you.”
Using her right hand to gently grasp Willard under his chin, Destiny turns his face around so that she can kiss him. She leaned back into his ear, “Much. Even then, you and I both know the fun in rough sex.”
Destiny laughed and tightly hugged Jason before pulling him onto his feet. She quickly grabbed his left hand and put his arm around her, while wrapping her own right around his back. Out the room they went, but not before Willard looked back at the inanimate bunny on the way. All of that would have to be put aside and out of thought. Today wasn’t the day to think of the upcoming Pay Per View, it was a day that belonged to somebody else.
The day was September 23rd and Kristen Leigh Willard was officially fourteen years old. Two thousand One seemed so long ago for both parents, as their eldest daughter was growing up. Kristen previously had let it be known she didn’t feel like doing anything special to celebrate it, and reminded her parents of the triple threat date fiasco as a good reason why. It didn’t detour either of them from group hugging her the moment she was spotted, embellishing the opportunity for further reddening her face. Kristen was on the phone to Jimmy, as she got jumped from both sides.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
”Our little girl is growing up, Jason!”
”Aw how sweet. Is she talking to her little boyfriend? When is he going to show his face around this part of the state again?”
”God! You guys disgust me! I HAVE to be adopted” Kristen shrieked out as she fought her way away from them. Turning around, she winked and stuck her tongue out while continuing her conversation.
”Yeah, my parents say hi. They think I’m still two apparently.” Kristen spoke, running as fast as she could to her bedroom. Young love sought privacy. Jason and Destiny meanwhile laughed it up from inside the kitchen, exchanging a hi-five.
”Autumn’s birthday is soon. Think she’ll take to us better?”
Willard shrugged. “Probably. She’s only going to be ten.”
”You’d think Kristen would expect this from us by now. As a matter of fact, she has four more years of it! Unless…ya know…”
”Don’t you say it, Destiny. Don’t even think it. She’s too young for one thing. If Jimmy dared, I’d give him a beating like Underground division is known for…”
Destiny frowned.
”So…you’re going to go through with it?”
”What choice do I have? Johnny isn’t happy about it, I’m not happy about it, but I can channel all of that rage up and unleash it on Judge, Jury, High Tide and Wasp.”
”You would think by now the brass would come to their senses.”
”HA! We’re still waiting for that day to happen. It really makes me stop and think about the future. But I’m booked, so regardless of everything, I’ll attempt to win the title for the fans if nothing else.”
”You agreeing to Kristen getting married before she’s eighteen has a better chance of happening. Oops! Did I say that? Hehe.”
Willard looks over at Destiny over that suggestion. It has been known that under no circumstance would he support that idea.
”I thought I asked you not to say it?”
”Well I did. What are you going to do about it, shut my mouth for me?”
Willard paused for a moment as Destiny waited impatiently to see what he would he do. “As a matter of fact…” He moves into her, both of them readying for the predictable “I am.”
”Then do it…”
Willard pushes her onto the counter as their lips find one another in a slow embrace. Her fingertips weave through his hair, as his drags his up her back.
”EWW!! Don’t you guys have anything better to do than make out? God. Aren’t you guys like…sixty?? Act your age for pete’s sake!”
A loud smack is heard as the kissing gets broken up. Willard buries his face into his wife’s shoulder, laughing over the age quip. Destiny pats him while looking at Kristen.
“What do you feel like doing today, birthday girl?”
”I haven’t decided yet. I was kind of hoping that Jimmy would come visit. I miss him, mom. That boy drives me insane!”
”Your father does the same with me…”
”Yeah but you guys always have one another. It isn’t fair that he lives so far away!”
Willard moves around so that his back is facing Destiny. She quickly throws her arms around his chest, propping her head on his shoulder.
”Want me to go club and drag him back here for you, honey? You just say the word and I’ll go to Oakland to get him.”
Kristen perks up at the offer, “Really, daddy?”
”What are you kidding? That’s a six-and-a half hour drive. Not counting traffic and any stops your mother and I have to make. Do you think I want to spend over thirteen hours going up and down the state to go get that punk? I think not!”
”What if asked for my hand in marriage?”
”Ooo” Destiny muttered, nuzzling her face into the side of Jason’s neck. Kristen had a wide smile, knowing what his reaction would be to that idea. Willard looked amused by the suggestion. Moving away from Destiny, he reached out and gently put an arm around his daughter.
”Daddy loves you sweetheart, you know that right?”
”Of course”
”I want you to have a happy birthday and am willing to do anything I can to make that happen. You know that right?”
”Yes.”
”Good. Because your fourteen years old. He’s fifteen. There is no way on this planet as long as it still exists, that I’ll ever agree to that.”
Kristen chuckled, quickly kissing him on the cheek. “I know dad. I wasn’t serious. I just wanted to watch you react. I’m going to go to the mall with some of my friends from school. I’ll be back later, and then once the others come home, we can go out and celebrate!”
Willard throws his hands up in disbelief as she skipped away. Destiny still sat behind him, laughing to herself over him taking the bait.
“Kids! That one especially will be the death of me someday.”
”No you don’t. You just think you do.”
”What part of I QUIT do you not understand?”
”I”
”I? You don’t understand that?”
”No, because you aren’t going to quit.”
